Description: An older, portly man, Haramus seems to fill a room, both literally and figuratively. He sports a fluffy white mustache, a full and long beard, and wisps of hair that have been unsuccessfully combed over a prominent bald spot. His thin lips frequently grow thinner in disapproval over the most minor of infractions of palace protocol.

Personality: Although frequently amiable, the palace minister takes his position as the caretaker of the protocols that govern the affairs of royalty extremely seriously. And he will never let anyone forget it. Whether clearing his throat noisily when one of the several dozen official titles of the king is forgotten or harumphing in disapproval at a slightly relaxed form of address between peers of the realm engaged in informal conversation, Minister Haramus wishes to ensure that 'civility' is maintained at all times. Even if it makes everyone else wish to murder him.

Background: Haramus has been the chief minister of the palace for as long as any can remember. Presumably he was once a young man when serving Alaric IV's grandfather, but if he was ever less than an officious, supercilious, and obnoxious pedant, no one has shared any memory of those times. While a nuisance to nearly all who know him, he has an encylopedic knowledge of the minutiae of palace protocol, which he mistakes for importance.
