Action Id: 4632 Crisis: Participants: Pasquale, Neilda and Volya
Status: Resolved Public: True GM: Smile

Action by Pasquale

With a combination of orchestrated scout sightings, mislaid messengers and carefully designed behavior Pasquale wishes to make the fleets surrounding Redreef believe that a very large, but vulnerable, force of Lycenes is gathering with the intention of moving to relieve the Redreef siege. The impression he wishes to give is that the fleet is large enough that ignoring it will be a dangerous error but small, and vulnerable, enough that they have a very limited opportunity to take it. It is important that they believe that the risk of ignoring it is very real but the risk of chasing it minimal. A safe bet as it were.

And when they move to deal with this fleet Pasquale plans to slip through the gaps their movements make and deliver food, supplies and soldiers enough to change the outcome of the siege. It is hard to maintain a siege when you are being attacked in the rear afterall.

It wont be the first time Pasquale has changed the outcome of an invasion with a bit of Lycene ingenuity afterall.

Action by Neilda

Following a lengthy conversation with Pasquale regarding his plan, Neilda offers another idea to add the plausible believability of the scenario that they are concocting: using a couple of ships to lead the fleet that look and seem (to the observer) to be as vulnerable as the news (or falsely placed propaganda) has suggested.

Action by Volya

Result

For all the pragmatism in the Isles, many of their leaders are lacking in such brazen subterfuge. Which works to Malespero and thus Redreef's advantage. The mislaid messengers, scout sightings and Lycene ingenuity do indeed work to draw the attention of the rebel fleets surrounding Redreef Shores. There's a certain fear among the ranks given Bloodbrook's timely withdrawal from the blockade. Some of the soldiers wonder if maybe they too should follow suit as they do need to focus their martial power and resources on different war fronts. The captain of the Bleakshoal fleet thinks this is a perfect opportunity to weaken Redreef's allies as, "The Lycene don't have a fraction of the senses of a goose."

The plan works well, as numerous Bleakshoal ships make way to attack the vulnerable ships they assume have come to offer martial aid. Ships that seem in need of serious updating which Neilda wisely picked out. Ships that are intent on leading Bleakshoal on a fruitless chase. This provides enough of a window for Pasquale to slip through and restock Redreef with food, supplies and soldiers. They can only carry so much in the couple of ships that slip through the gap but it's certainly enough to help Redreef hold out longer.

With a timely exit from the Shores, his supply ships evade capture. Soon enough Bleakshoal will notice the ruse and give up chase, and inform the rest of the rebel fleet, which makes this a plan unlikely to work a second time. Nonetheless it is a bit of Lycene ingenuity that is sure to make a difference.
