Lord Gaspard Blackram
"In a fight, you have your fighters where they are best. You dont go putting a pikeman on a horse. So...why am I at this party again?"
Description: A mane of luxuriant raven hair crowns this giant of a man, tumbling mussed and wild over the bulk of his shoulders, chest, and back. Thick black lashes and heavy black brows lend to a serious gaze, but his azure eyes, their pupils ringed in liquid gold, gleam with the depth and clarity of twin jewels. The rest of his features are broad and chiseled--a pair of high, strong cheekbones, a bold nose with the barest upturn at the tip, and full pink lips defined in a generous bow. Around his mouth, over his cheeks and along his jawline is a shadow of dark scuff to contrast the weathered fairness of his complexion, a handful of freckles scattered here and there. At six-and-a-half feet, he exhibits a languid grace in motion, attuned to the nuances of his movement and body in the way of a veteran athlete. His robust frame, too, is a testament to years of combat, from the supple lines of his deeply sculpted musculature to the scars carved across his skin and the calluses that beset his hands.
Personality: Gaspard is VERY comfortable out on the field, whether he's leading the charge or just participating in the line. Its when you throw him on the social battlefield that he doesn't do so well, and he's not entirely convinced he really should be here and not back out in the field. While he's not CRANKY, his default might be...brooding and quiet.
Background:
Growing up in the Blackram family meant that rough was a way of life, and lessons that anything worth having was worth struggling for, and anything given to you wasn't really worth much. Gaspard learned quickly that a people did well when everyone determined what they were good at, and did that, for the good of all. Merchants traded, bakers baked, sailors sailed, and of course, the warriors fought and protected. When Gaspard excelled in his fighting training as a child, he threw himself into his study and workouts and stopped considering anything else.
He joined the rest of the family's fighters in Cloudspine leading pikemen in defending the marches, and earned a few scars and his Knighthood in action there and at Gyre, as well as a name for dependably being at the front of battle. Gaspard saw himself as staying there until he finally caught a blade or an arrow and died honorably defending his people and the lands. Perhaps unfortunately for his plans, it has been made clear to him that a Knight is expected to set an example OFF of the field as well, and if the younger Marquis can be a shining example, then damned well can travel to Arx and support him.
