Action by Fiachra(RIP)
As second-in-command of Alis' light cavalry unit, Fiachra will be making the following preparations/actions (The bulk of the information will be in Alis' +crisis entry regarding the mission. These are just notes specific to Fiachra):
* He will prepare a half-dozen to a dozen arrows that may be set alight before being fired, should he require them during the battle.
* As he's primarily a woodsman, he will be largely involved in the actual scouting efforts. Of potential use here is his ability to occasionally know the lay of land that he has never set foot upon. (This is in my secrets.) Alis is aware that he has this ability, so he will let her know if he gets any flashes of insight.
* He's certainly going to be looking for ideal ground to place the archers under his command in order to offer them the advantages in firing on their targets while preventing them from becoming easy targets in turn. As a Greenmarch archer, most of his tactical knowledge would be geared towards such manoeuvres.
* On a personal note, Fiachra will be watching Alis' back as much as possible. He'll do what he's there to do without hesitation/letting it distract him, but he certainly is not going to let the Princess fall if he can do anything to prevent it.
Result
Fiachra, in the end, is the one that picks the site of Pridehall Ford for the Battle of Pridehall (see the crisis update for full details). During scouting with Alis, he just started to have feelings about areas, and he just -knew- that the Pridehall Ford was a perfect place for a battle, he could all but feel it had been used for one before. He mentioned the spot as an ideal place to fight the advancing shav host, the suggestion went to Gabriel, who agreed emphatically after analyzing its strategic merits.
In the battle itself, Fiachra doesn't leave Alis' side. The archers are ideally positioned, thanks to Fiachra, and lay down withering fire throughout the battle- he himself shot an unarmed man running towards Alis who had just torn a Valardin knight apart- a clear bringer, though disturbingly it seems the diamondplate arrowhead didn't slay it. Repeated arrows and a dogpile of knights did, however.
