Description: The first and easiest thing to notice about Kaede is the long, midnight hued hair that falls to her waist from a center part when left unbound. In the brightest light, faint copper highlights can be noticed within the depths. Abundant freckles and a certain amount of weathering of her bronzed skin speak of a life spent outdoors, while her high forehead, the prominent bones of her cheeks, and well-defined jawline suggest a certain strength. Her observant brown-black eyes, set under straight brows and over a roundish nose tend to roam restlessly, taking constant measure of her surroundings. Her form is leanly athletic as befitting those who have spent their lives at work, with just enough curve to bust and hip to make it obvious that she is, indeed, female.
Personality: Sarcastic and more than a little bit irreverent, Kaede is a survivor who meets what life throws at her with the passion that tends to come to those who have nearly lost everything. She's certainly most at home with a ship under her feet or in company with those of her ilk, preferring the company of sailors and the like.
Background: Kaede was born on the sea. While she doesn't remember a great deal about her early years, she remembers the pitch and yaw of a ship, and wood under her feet rather than land. She was still young when the pirates took her world away from her. She lost everything; her home, her family, and even her name. It was a miracle that she didn't lose her life as well, but she was found by Ravenseye sailors clinging to some of the wreckage of what had once been her ship. Dehydrated and delirious, she was nursed back to health by a sailor who had had no children of his own, and was determined that the child would live.
She took to her new home and new family, but her love for the sea would always be in her blood, and she continued to spend more time away from land than on it. Her loyalty is to the clan who took her in, and she is now a captain in her own right, knowledgeable in naval tactics and with a lingering, burning hatred in her heart for pirates and those like them. Kaede is accompanying the newly-made Countess to Arx, so that she may continue to be of assistance to the only family she remembers having.
