Tessere Tragedy

Word reaches Arx that Marquis-Regent Gaspar Tessere has been the latest victim of the Tessere bad luck. Word spreads that the Marquis-Regent fell from his horse during an early evening ride and was found dead after a search party hunted for him the following morning. Normally, the Lyceum might begin to whisper that Marquis-Regents don't just 'fall from horses', the Tessere legacy of early deaths and terrible luck leave few speculating about the 'real causes' and mostly just wondering what gods House Tessere has made so angry. In the wake of Gaspar Tessere's death, Lord Cosimo Tessere, uncle to little heir Lord Constantine, is the obvious choice to replace the Marquis-Regent in what amounts to a quiet handover of power. Of course, while House Tessere has a new Regent, there are no few unkindly individuals who wonder, given the Tessere luck, if either will survive long enough for the little lord to attain his majority.
