Even with the city under siege and an impending attack as the Silent Army's siege towers are finished, life goes on in Arx. That's the opinion of many about word of Lazarus Mercier angrily renoucing (and not being released from) his vow of fealty to House Grayson and taking his business to House Fidante, with most being confused why this is happening and only vaguely aware it has something to do with Lord Karadoc Saik. And grain? Something. Breaking his vow obviously wins Lazarus few friends with House Grayson, though most adopt the stance that it is beneath notice, even if Lazarus an extremely prominent merchant. Many of the commons of Tor are concerned that it could hurt their standing with house Grayson, but hope a relatively minor matter won't blow up, and assume the Duchess of Tor has the matter well in hand. Baroness Kima Saik, however, is extremely proactive, with the Lioness of Saikland Greens attempting to reconcile House Saik with the Merciers, by offering the first batch of the next season's bottled wine for free, and the baroness offering to train three gifted commoner children in the ways of knighthood without charge. It's a generous gesture, and a reassuring sign that cooler heads prevail when a supernatural foe that wants to obliterate existence is outside the walls and doesn't seem as concerned about grain and alcohol usuage. Or maybe they do. They haven't said. Not much talkers, bringers.
