Samantha and Soup

Marquessa Samantha Deepwood, the Conscience of the Peers, has gone out of her way to be enormously supportive of the Crow Soup Kitchen. She's petitioned the Crown for a stipend in her capacity as Minister of Civil Development. As Marquessa of Old Oak, she's called upon her people to donate furniture, food and supplies and general charity, focusing on pragmatic, workmanlike gifts. And in what has some nobles frowning and others looking in approval, she has personally volunteered in the kitchen. That's always mixed. Some nobles will feeel that's beneath one of their standing, or even just feel it's showmanship rather than an effective use of a leader's time. Others see it as, well, noble. And the willingness to work with commoners and make real sacrifices of a noble's time shows true commitment. How they view it will generally be a reflection of their own biases.
