Episode: The Sack of Bastion
Posted by Story on 05/31/22
It's not just the Physicians Guild and the Bards College that is growing, but the Scholars get in on the rush of progress as well with the building of twelve new libraries, situated in the domains of Houses: Deepwood, Riven, Igniseri, DiFidante, Pravus, Proscipi, Crovane, Halfshav, Eswynd, Blackshore, Blackram, and Clement. The move is wildly popular and they become go to destination for the academically inclined who intend to make a pilgrimage to each and every one to peruse their collections. Many credit the work of the Crafters Guild in building shelves and decorating the spaces as to why so many find them so inviting.
The King himself embarks on an exhausting tour of the Compact to support the efforts of the various fealties to enforce order and unity within their realms. With the charming Princess Berenice Velenosa and the well-respected Duke Cristoph Laurent to accompany him, few are able to resist the charms of King Alaric when he turns it on to dazzle his people all across the Continent. House Clement with Baron Norwood at the helm do similarly on a much smaller scale at Aaron's Crossing, to much acclaim. The Compact might not like neo-nobles much at all, but they dislike House Clement far less than some others. Baroness Amari Redire, also the head of a new House to the Compact though of old blood herself, attempts to bring order to her realm by using her knowledge of the law, but her efforts don't garner much success in unifying her people.
While any of these efforts individually might not do much to dampen the lit fires that threaten to consume the Compact, unified together, much like the Compact itself, does seem to get the idea across that they all work better together than apart. If only everyone could decide on a common goal.
