Just a note -- not all commands need to have RP-spurring motivation behind them. Sometimes just being functionally useful is very beneficial.
Also, I remember when I was a wee newbie, I was RPing in a scene and getting some awesome info that was blowing my mind. My RP partner was short on AP and was like 'hey, if you have some AP, I can share some of these clues with you', which I tossed over -- and I got the clues that supported our RP. So that command very much helped our RP. In that case, +iamhelping was an OOC functionally useful command that very much helped my IC role play.
