Prestige Changes

Posted by Pax on 12/15/18
So, the first stage of the prestige reworking is in. The main changes are:

* Modeling can be done without an audience again.

* Modeling no longer gives a bonus for doing it in public.

* Largesse gains for hosting an event have been significantly improved.

* Fame and Legend gains now can have categories associated with them ('designer', 'fashion icon', 'soldier', and so on).

* The 'score' command is gone, replaced by a new command called 'notable' which provides more generalized prose descriptions instead of raw numbers. Rather than seeing that someone has a given amount of fame and legend, you'll see that they're a notable Champion or a celebrated fashion icon, or whatever.

There are further changes planned; a way to automate fame gains for Champion duel victories and tournament wins, a command to nominate other people for fame or legend gains, and so on. There are also places where prestige numbers still occur, where I've not yet pulled them out; individual inventory outputs, the results of modeling, etc.

It's worth noting that because previous prestige/fame adjustments didn't have categories associated with them, it's going to take a little while before people's fame and legend values have categories or reasons associated with them; in the meantime, people will just be listed as 'citizens' instead of 'designers' or 'fashion icons' or 'Champions' or 'soldiers' or 'philanthropists' and so on. We may also adjust the 'tiers' (titles for given ranges of prestige/fame/legend), depending on where the list settles down after a while.

Depending on how things shake out with these changes, we may need to still rebalance things, but hopefully this is a good first step on making things feel more balanced to people. And if something seems broken, please let us know!
