Crisis Action How To

So I've gotten a few questions about how to make an org's action for a crisis, particularly since a lot of players weren't playing when actions were last active in the game. Keep in mind that a lot of the current commands will probably be phased out as I make it simpler, and I want to avoid a long guide that would quickly become dated, so I'll just type up a quick how-to here now.

Type '@crisis' to see the different plot numbers of the crises. Then the command to create an action based on that is @action/newaction <crisis number>=<story for what the action is ICly attempting>.

For example, if an org wished to create an action for the 'Upset Traditionalists' ongoing crisis to help calm them down, it would be:

@action/newaction 1385=So we plan to try to win over the traditionalists by appealing to a traditional appreciation of Lagoma, by firebombing every single one of their holdings. First, we plan to gather a lot of oil, and then...

That first command creates an action draft, and tells you the current action number with a notification like "You have drafted a new action (#4370) to respond to Upset Traditionalists:", and that number is what you reference when adding the fields of the action. While I plan on deprecating a lot of the parts of actions to make this a simpler and easier to use process in the coming weeks/months, that part will likely remain as an org leader could still have a crisis action and personal action to switch between.

With the draft created, a few fields need to be filled in. Select the org with @action/org <your action number>=<your org name>. For example, a legate of the faith doing the above would type:

@action/org 4370=Faith of the Pantheon

Next is the 'ooc intent', which is what you use to tell the staff what it is you are trying to accomplish OOCly, what you hope to see or avoid. Generally speaking, for any actions for personal stories diving into mysteries, we at least want an OOC guess here as to what a character suspects so we can confirm or deny, something completely free form without any direction is incredibly difficult to write, and we really need that in ooc intent. So in the above example it would be:

@action/ooc_intent 4370=So me and my org are firebombing traditionalists trying to to intimidate them into never saying anything bad about elevating neo nobles ever again, or even thinking it, and preferrably even existing. This is so that when we elevate the Ulbran crime family into a ducal house, nothing bad happens. Also I would like a pony.

Next is the action tldr, this is like a title that will show up for the action to staff and other players, so keep it short and sweet. For our example, it's @action/tldr 4370=Winning Hearts and Minds with Firebombs

Next we have two fields that are currently necessary but will surely be removed in the future, which is why I don't really want to make a helpfile guide until in its finished state. The roll and category fields. Category is the type of action it is, such as 'combat, scouting, support, diplomacy, sabotage, research'. Just pick whatever most or least fits the action, or one at random, because it won't come up. So "@action/category 4370=sabotage" for our example. Roll will likely in the future be assigned by staff, not the player, but for now you can select it. So our example:

@action/roll 4370=luck,alchemy

Now, you can add other players to the action: each assisting player contributes to the owner of the action's roll, up to a maximum set by the action type, and as staff I'll usually glance at what the assisting players are doing and tweak the outcome accordingly. For crisis actions, the person invited must be a member of the org. So for our Faith example it would be:

@action/invite 4370=aureth

So the Dominus can look on in horror at what is being wrought. Then the action can be submitted with "@action/submit 4370". Most of the other commands will gradually be removed/tweaked, but they have some utility, like '@action/question' that leaves a note for staff or '@action/add' for adding in resources, military units, AP, silver, etc at staff's request or when we set the action's roll as being modified by them.

For personal story actions, it's just the same process, except there's no org, and the crisis number should be replaced by the plot number of someone's personal plot about what they are doing.
