A Farewell

There comes a time in the life of many men that they must stop, and take stock of where they are, where they have been, and where they are going. In the life of a knight, the importance of his oaths as a knight before the gods are of utmost importance, above all other things. An oath to uphold the traditions of honor and chivalry, the honor of sworn liege and the honor of a Great House, is a great responsibility, a duty of magnitude as well as nuance.
Prince Barric Grayson has served as the Sword of Grayson for several years now, and over the course of that time, he has served our House with the pride and dignity that he ought. Yet over time, it is possible for even the proudest man to grow complacent, and Prince Barric came to a decision that over the course of the past year, that complacency in his oaths has led to a diminishment of himself as a man and as a knight. He found within his own heart that his comportment was inappropriate and ill befit the son of a Great House, let alone its Sword.
So it is that House Grayson respects this choice of Prince Barric's to leave behind the Sword, in the keeping of our House and of His Majesty, and to go forth upon a holy pilgrimage to reflect upon his knightly oaths, upon where he is, where he has been, and where he is going. In obedience to the Faith of the Pantheon, he will pray at each of the holy sites of the pilgrimage path, and when his pilgrimage is done, he will return with the warmth and welcome of our hearts as the true knight he has sworn to be, restored and renewed.
We thank him for his service with Oathkeeper, Sword of Queen Alarice, and wish him well upon this long and Faithful road.
