Sad Tidings

I deeply regret the report that I must now pen for the Compact and the annals of House Grayson, but unfortunately this too is a sad duty that has come to me.
In consultation with the Most Holy, Dominus Aldwin, and with Prince Luca Grayson, we have come to the conclusion that House Grayson has no course but to seek a dissolution of the marital bonds between Prince Luca and Princess Reese.
Prince Luca’s life as a Champion, spending his body for the honor of others, has taken a toll upon him, and due to injury he received in the course of that work, it is my sad duty as a parent to commiserate with him upon the fact that he is medically unable to father a child upon his wife. He will, of course, continue to be a beloved uncle to the princes and princesses of the House, even if he can never give one to Princess Reese. But this is a marital duty that he simply cannot fulfill.
Therefore, although Prince Luca shall remain a Grayson prince with all rights and privileges thereto, and House Grayson shall continue to hold in him in the same esteem, and the treatised oaths between House Grayson and House Velenosa shall remain in effect with the full force of the bonds of amity and filial love that we have grown to share, he must be set aside so that Princess Reese may one day have an heir of the body.
With the approval of the Dominus, this separation is deemed to be one of no fault. I can only offer our deepest thanks to the Faith and to the gods for the understanding Aldwin has shown to these young people at this time of sadness in their lives.

We offer condolences to Prince Luca and Princess Reese Grayson for the unfortunate dissolution of their marriage for reasons beyond their control. We also offer condolences to Prince Luca for... well... surely it needn't be explained.

'It is ten o'clock: Thus we may see,' quoth he, 'how the world wags: Tis but an hour ago since it was nine, And after one hour more 'twill be eleven; And so, from hour to hour, we ripe and ripe, And then, from hour to hour, we rot and rot; And thereby hangs a tale.'
