Vowkeeper
Posted by Arn on 01/03/19
Honor is a concept that defines a house in the Oathlands. My honor has been called into question countless times, from the day I usurped my treacherous father as Duke of the Telmarch until today. I have been dogged constantly as untrustworthy, dishonorable, a troll. I've accepted those barbs because I care less for what others think of me and more for what I know to be right. Honor can be complicated. It can be difficult for one to maintain it. It is a hard path to follow and one that sets the Oathlands apart from the rest of the Compact. In many circumstances it is debatable what the honorable decision should be. Not so in this case.
Bliss Whisper has been wronged by House Telmar and so I set it right. Vowkeeper is hers for the length of her life. May it be long and prosperous. May she forge new stories and adventure with this ancient blade. And when, long after I'm finally dead, the sword returns to our keeping after her passing, let Vowkeeper be displayed in the great hall of the Telmarch. A part of our history - and Bliss's - put to rest. Honor restored, vows kept.
--- Mazetti Stance (from Hadrian) ---
We extend our respect to Duke Arn and House Telmar for reaching an exceptionally difficult decision, setting right a wrong left to fester. Their wisdom and honor is once more apparent.
--- Solace Stance (from Jeffeth) ---
It's hard to make a decision like this. Solace congratulates House Telmar for making a difficult decision in attempts to make things right.
--- Faith of the Pantheon Stance (from Orazio) ---
A Sword kept faithlessly has no honor to guard. The Faith is pleased to see Duke Arn acting to ensure that the honor of his House is kept in tact, and no doubt pleasing Limerance with the keeping of vows given in House Telmar's name.
--- Leary Stance (from Fairen) ---
We applaud you for doing the right thing, in the end, even if it was not easy to do.
--- Grayson Stance (from Tikva) ---
May Duke Arn be lauded and remembered for meeting the demands of honor and keeping a promise before Limerance regardless of the caterwaul of the masses or the flinch of anyone's personal pride.
--- Shepherd Stance (from Malcolm) ---
Not real sure about how this all started, but - uh, I'm real glad it's ended peaceful-like. Honor's not in the weapon, it's in the keeping of a word. You've shown that, I'd say.
--- Thrax Stance (from Victus) ---
It is commendable to see difficult action taken for the preservation of House honor. Well done to House Telmar.
--- Deepwood Stance (from Grady) ---
Honor satisfied with diplomacy over bloodshed is always preferable. Deepwood applauds this stand for House Telmar's honor.
--- Whisper Stance (from Lumen) ---
Times of enmity are always opportune moments for abandoning principles. Kudos on having resisted the urge. May we soon forget the names of those who would have had it otherwise.
--- Valardin Stance (from Alis) ---
We have never doubted the strength of your honor. May House Telmar's actions this day serve as the finest example of the Oathlands.
--- Templars Stance (from Preston) ---
Though we are sorry mediation could not find an easier path, this one is truest perhaps to the name, even if those promises were made first by one who turned out to be lacking in honour. We are measured by the good we do, after all, not by the wrongs done against us.
