A Statement on Today's Events
Posted by Aureth on 01/13/19
After extensive communication with the Master of Questions, I am satisfied to offer the following public statement to the City of Arx, regarding the events of 5/9/1010 AR.
The Inquisition discovered a conspiracy amongst certain named members of the Peerage in Arvum to overthrow His Majesty, King Alaric IV, specifically in order to welcome the wealth of our Cardian visitors. No evidence exists to suggest that His Excellency the Praetor Marcus Sulla had anything to do with this plot. Sufficient evidence did exist, however, that there was a risk to the Crown and to certain members of the Peerage who would appear at the upcoming Assembly that the Inquisition was impelled to act swiftly.
To further complicate matters, Baroness Violet, Commandant of the Crimson Blades, received information that the person of the Dominus was under threat of a conspiracy within the Faith of the Pantheon and specifically within the Scholars of Vellichor. This conspiracy was aimed to replace the leadership of the Faith of the Pantheon with the rule and certainty of the Undying Empire. No evidence exists that the Undying Empire was actually involved in any level and no insult is intended to Emissary Zulana by our swift response to condemn the said conspiracy.
Commandant Violet developed a scheme to root out the conspirators and her piety and zeal were such that she was overwhelmed. Her troops, acting under orders, understood only that they were protecting the city from secret enemies. We find Violet's passion commendable and are relieved to hear that she has already begun seeking penance for her violent exuberance in the Shrine of the Sentinel. Several other persons were involved in this same scheme and we presume that their penance for acting in defiance of the authority and protection of the Faith will be sought personally and individually.
Although the precipitous action is extremely regrettable and there will be work to do of repentance and restitution, the Faith and the Inquisition are satisfied that the conspirators shall be brought to justice.
In service to the Crown, In service to the Faith,
Prince Laric Grayson & Legate Aureth Grayhope

--- Ashford Stance (from Harlan) ---
It is disturbing that conspiracies of this nature existed, especially within the Scholars. Ashford commends the Faith for defending the Crown and the Compact.
--- Amadeo Stance (from Duarte) ---
We are pleased to know the bloodthirsty vigilante sellswords will be serving penance.
--- Scholars Stance (from Sina) ---
We are extremely disappointed in this debacle, and the way in which it was handled. There will be a thorough inquiry into this matter, which was never once brought to the attention of the Archscholar by those involved.
--- Templars Stance (from Preston) ---
A good deed ill done can never be fully good. Those who would use the Faith for their own ill purposes should pay, and thankfully have, but the risks taken could have given us a horror not seen since Darius Thrax. We must do better, especially under the watch of foreign powers.
