Matters of Tradition

On this day, house Grimhall reaffirms its dedication to the traditions of the Mourning Isles, barring men from serving as judges and lawyers within our holdings. At the same time, women are barred from joining the Grim Fleet and the Grim Legion. These matters, once left to tradition alone, will have the protection of law going forward.
In addition, in the interest of the safety of our people going forward, among those of our thralls who will be released from their debts in the first year will be the execution of those who were convicted of violent crimes such as assault, kidnapping, and piracy, along with those rare murderers who were afforded the leniency of thralldom. Exceptions to this will be made for those who have already worked off eighty percent of their debts, and who are, in the opinions of their debt-holders, earnestly working toward rehabilitation.
By my hand

House Nightgold extends thanks to the newest Duke with regards to the wisdom of his choice for the handling of violent thralls. Surely such a well reasoned decision will go far to quell the worries of those who had opposed their freeing due to the violent criminals.
