Placing the dead to rest
Posted by Preston on 08/11/19
As many will know, the Faith Militant constructed the Grand Mausoleum of the Faith Militant 3 years ago close to Sanctum, after Stormwall. A place for the bones of our dead to be interred so they would rest together. A place for mercies who died on the field to be remembered next to the Solace that shielded them. A place for the many Templar dead who fell at Stormwall to be remembered, and the lesson of their honour in pursuit of the Faith can be learnt by pilgrims. At the same time we made space for those knighted who fell beside our troops, those who had honoured their oaths to Limerance and Gloria to the fullest in dying under their liege's orders, to rest in the side halls of the Fealties.
Though the losses on the Great Road have not been as great as at Stormwall, nor as shockingly brutal as The Lodge, none the less Templars bled across Arvum alongside the forces of the noble houses. Those who died at Fournier, at Highhill and elsewhere, if they died fighting honourably on the side of the Faithful and the Compact, and were knighted, they may have their bones interred in the mausoleum should their families wish it. There is no greater duty than serving the Gods, whatever form that takes.
