Regarding Recent Events

To the great citizens of the Compact -
First of all, I would like to apologize to the our messengers. It feels as if they have been working extra lately in a role that does not get the thanks they deserve. For their tireless efforts, I am grateful.
Now, on to slightly more serious matters:
Recently it was announced I gave up rule of Bastion. The reason is that there is much to focus on as Sovereign. That's not a complaint but a reality. It is something that, with the time it takes, has become now a singular focus for me as Ruler of the Compact. It also means that as I step away from worrying about the decisions of House Grayson and instead focus on all of the Compact, I've had a chance to truly reflect on where we've been and where we may be going.
I understand that people have questions on the nature of my recent decisions. I can tell you, that at the core of any decision I make, is the long term well being of the Compact. At the Assembly of Peers I will announce several upcoming measures, all meant to strengthen us now and long term.
I understand that change is difficult. It has been suggested that I am inviting ruinous results with at least one I have made. It has been mentioned that there are plenty of reasons that people believe are sufficient to specifically not elevate House Pravus. I understand that there are those who felt I was trying to do so in secret, even though I specifically let the High Lords and their voices know weeks before the Assembly of Peers that this was coming. I understand that people have strong feelings and concerns on this matter.
I would remind everyone that it was not so long ago that one of our houses was fighting against all the others. Another house was considered a group of pirates and slavers. During the time after Queen Alarice, there was so much violence and betrayal that the Crown turned over multiple times. House Thrax was not always a Great House, and House Pravus once was. My point being?what has been hasn't -always- been, and doesn't mean that it is what should always be.
I also see the Compact not only as what it is, but what I believe it can and must become if it is to face the innumerable challenges that we know are out there. At what point does protecting what we have turn to complacency instead of seeking to make it something more? Will we huddle in our current borders, bolstering our walls and talking of the greatness of the Compact, while hoping that what we have is not taken from us by the many things that wish to? I would say no. I would say that now is the time to expand and stretch our boundaries, remove the threats that we can, and at the same time continue to use all of our resources to make allies and show to our whole world why The Compact, its people, and its ways should not only survive but should absolutely thrive.
To that end, The Compact was never meant to stay one thing forever. In truth, if we continue to stay what we've been then we will never become something more than what we are now, and I would consider that perhaps my greatest failing if I did not, during the time of my sovereignty, help lead us down a path that allowed us to excel. My hope, and goal, in all my announcements that I will make at the Assembly of Peers, is that you as the Compact and the people I love so much will know that every action and decision I make is made for you, and your children, and their children.
I ask for your trust and patience to allow me to share what should be shared, when the time is right versus when those I asked for trust and discretion choose another path.
Thank you for your time in reading, hearing, or telling this to all that will listen. May we continue to stand for all that is good and passionate in this world.
May we stand for what is honest and fair and just.
May we stand against the dark and the unknown.
May we stand in oneness as we continue to usher in a period of peace, and remind those who would seek a fight that we are ready and willing, but that there are also other ways.
May we stand for our allies, who's support and trust in us remains unshakeable.
May we stand for The Faith, the Gods who we serve and who watch over us and all of our thoughts and deeds.
We are The Crown. We are the Compact.
We Stand
King Alaric Grayson
Fourth of his name
--- Amadeo Stance via Duarte ---
The King of the Compact is of course wise and judicious!
--- Blackram Stance via Gaston ---
The Compact has endured times of incredible change and turbulence, and it will continue to do so. We stand with the King, and look forward to what dynamic a new Great House will bring to our realms with interest.
--- Whisper Stance via Bliss ---
Whisper House will, as always, be ready to serve the Compact in this time of great change.
--- Scholars Stance via Sina ---
We will watch with great curiosity to see how these events affect the Compact into the future. As always, we shall ever be watchful, and record these events with all due diligence, in Vellichor's name.
--- Mirrormask Stance via Vayne ---
What we are concerned most about is whether these changes - which are not necessarily unwelcome - have been considered against the alternatives. Did the King consult with anyone who would offer a counter point before he set the Compact on this course?
--- Byrne Stance via Mikani ---
As always we stand with our King and with the Compact. To move forward we must evolve and grow. It is part of the cycle and tis the season of change. May the Gods and Spirits look favorably upon us as the King guides us through this.
--- Rivenshari Stance via Eshra ---
A river that does not flow and change, grows stagnant and dies.
--- Crovane Stance via Kaldur ---
Speaking from experience, things like this can veer in ways that are charitably called surprising. Crovane supports King and Compact in finding a way forward attuned to the Ideals of our Faith.
