On the Castigation of Heretics
Posted by Astraea on 01/30/20
Heresy is any belief or theory that is strongly opposed with the established beliefs or customs of the Church. While we of the faithful do not always act in accordance to our holy dictates as we should for we are only human, the Legates and Archlectors who are so close to the Gods always strive to embody the ideals that we so love. So when Falak'a'Sib came to the Compact he was received as an honored guest and ambassador here on behalf of the Prophet of Sands. Despite his personal beliefs he was allowed to move among us freely and to proselytize, even though he was warned against it, to those who would listen. This was a magnanimous act of grace that was bestowed upon him by the Crown and the Faith of the Pantheon through the wisdom of our Dominus who is closest to the Gods. Who were we to oppose divine mandate and to question the doctrines of our beloved faith.
All of that has changed.
We all see the tides shifting and the writing on the wall. We all prayed for peace and a time of renewal and in many ways we were blessed with it, for a time. The Holy Knights of the Temple are not warmongers who seek battle when diplomacy may prevail. We are a chivalrous order of guardians to the Faith of the Pantheon, the holy shrines, the lands which are sacred to us, and to the faithful themselves.
Our obligation is to the Holy Traditions of the Church and as the highest authority of Gloria's disciples it is my duty to draw the line in the sand and say we will take no more. We will not suffer slavers or threats from Falak'a'Sib, we will not barter with the representatives of Skal'daja when they come unless they wish to repent and give up their ways and we will not turn a blind eye to heresy.
For this, I, the Archlector of Gloria do condemn Falak'a'Sib, the dune Kingdom of Skal'daja's slavers, and the Prophet of Sands as heretics. May they face the righteous condemnation of the heavens and may they be offered mercy when they are brought to heel but for as long as the practice of slavery and the assault on our lands, our people and our Faith persist they will find no succor from Elysia. They are cast out from the protection and Light of the God's realms and shall find no peace wherever they may wander.
Decreed by the Archlector Astraea Valardin of Gloria on the 8th day of the year 1012

The Templars look to our Archlector and to the Legates and the Most Holy for guidance in all things, and find we cannot argue with the condemnation of Falak and of the Eurusi Empire. We are Gloria's children, we must protect the innocent and our honour.
