On Defiance of the Faith
Posted by Aureth on 02/09/20
The lands of Eurus follow a faith that is anathema to the Faith of the Pantheon. Our condemnation of the evil practices of the Eurusi, of their slavetaking, and slaveholding, of their worship of the darkest Reflections of the gods we follow, is already written. The Faithful have abided by the word of the Church, embraced the will of the Dominus, and have refused to exercise trade that might inadvertently support the wickedness of these foreigners and their false religion.
Yet in the Mourning Isles, there is a man who has acted in defiance of this interdict, who has opened his arms and his harbor to the enemy of the Faith. Duke Ivan Helianthus stands against the Faith of the Pantheon in this action, and in so doing, he places his own judgment above that the Church and the Most Holy. The Legates of the Faith shall perform the rite of excommunication upon Ivan Helianthus, and the people of the Mourning Isles shall know that they need not follow him into folly.
Ivan Helianthus shall have the rights of the penitent to submit himself to the judgment of the Church. He may recant his errors and be returned to the fold. But if he does not, he shall be cast from the fold. For if you stand with the unrighteous and infidel against us, you name yourself our enemy.
The Seraph of Sungreet has interposed himself between the Church and the disobedience of this man. Rather than provide spiritual guidance to the faithful of Sungreet, he aids Duke Ivan in this discord, and shows loyalty not to his oath or to the gods, but to a man he has followed into error. This seraph shall be recalled to answer for words in defiance of those of the Most Holy.

We dearly hope Ivan Helianthus seeks forgiveness from the sacred institution of the Church. No good comes from dealing with heretics.

We respect the wisdom and judgment of The Faith. Welcoming an armada of heretical slavers is a threat to Compact and all it values. May the duke repent without delay.
--- Tyde Stance via Margot ---
While tides change and politics shift, Faith and Duty are the sun and moon by which we map our paths in all weather. Tyde prays for Ivan Helianthus, and prays for Sungreet, may they remember this and find their way back to the the light of the gods.

The Seraph and the Duke, an example of how heresy and weakness before the abyss breeds the same in others and why such people must be cut from the flesh of the compact before they cause the body to rot. May they choose redemption.

May the wisdom of the Faith reach the Duke and the Seraph. This call to reflect on their actions offers a path to redemption before lasting harm is done. We stand firm with the Faith and pray for a timely resolution.

House Grimhall agrees with the sentiments expressed here. Now that Iosif Helianthus Grimhall is residing in Grihem's Point, he too is quite vested in the redemption of his Duke and his House. We pray for Ivan Helianthus to find his way back to the Faith.
