The Stance of the Prince of Sanctum

I would like to be clear. As far as I am concerned Prince Abbas Thrax is a war criminal, and if he shows his face in the Oathlands or in the Valardin Ward we will respond to him as such. Outside of that I look to the the Highlord of the Mourning Isles to judge him of his crimes and the Pantheon to judge his soul.
I understand everyone's outrage. I feel it deeply. But it has to stop.
It has to stop because we all share some of the blood of the butchered on our hands.
When we agreed to pay the Nox'alfar's Teind, to pay the price of human sacrifice we gave up our moral high ground. When we made that choice, we decided that this is a fight we must win no matter the cost.
Duchess Margot Tyde proved there is a better way, Princess Donella has long been an advocate of peace. But they did not have the time or the luxury to be everywhere. And the part of the battle entrusted to Prince Abbas? He handled it the only way he knows how. With the brutality that a monster like him is made for.
Not all of us agreed to the the paying of Teind, but we all relented and we accepted that maybe that was the sacrifice needed to survive. We crossed that line in the sand, and we helped make the world in which this terrible slaughter could happen. Because we all agreed we must win no matter the cost.
I will not point fingers. I will not wash this blood from my hands. I will leave it as a reminder of what we decided to give up so that we might survive. I keep it to remember that when we finally defeat Tolamar Brand that it will not be a time to celebrate. It will be a time to reflect, a time to repent, a time for contrition. A time for us to understand that we must be better and stop ourselves from ever falling this far ever again.
But until that victory, I will stand and I will fight until my last, until we have pushed back Oblivion. I will keep the Oath of the Oathlands. As the World Endures, I Will Remember.
