House Kennex is pleased by Warlord Abbas's renunciation of flaying as a military punishment. That the practice is fading among the Thrax is inevitable - examining alternatives carefully would always reveal a less messy but still effective path.
One of Admiral Johan Kennex's founding principles for our house was to look to how our children would view us, and always consider the appearance of our actions along with our intent and results. It is from his vision that we swore from our ennoblement to refrain from taking war prisoners as thralls. It is from his vision that two hundred years ago, Marquis Nikos announced the abandonment of flaying as a method of causing pain during executions.
It is from his vision, inspired by the Warlord's proclamation, that I announce the end of another practice - the use of the crosses. Crucifixion is intended to appear brutal and to display the condemned for the mockery of those nearby, which needs to end. The March's new method of presenting the condemned to the sea, which will remain an accurate euphemism for execution, is faster and less public, while still allowing the condemned the time to think upon their sins. We believe this to be the correct intent of an execution.
