In Memory and Aid, and a new Voice of Darkwater

Life is difficult; it is hard, and trying, and all too often short. Once we accept that, they say, then the hardships do not feel like such burdens. I know many fine men and women who do not accept. Who do not accept and overcome, but rather choose to meet those hardships with blade and bow and bared teeth, ready to send them into the depths of hell or die trying.
It is a glorious sort of bravery, and one I am ever proud to witness. But I am also a mother, and I know well the particular pain of wondering how to meet hardships and keep them from those you care most for. The young, the vulnerable, the elderly and revered. We are in the midst of winter, and we have suffered the loss of many good sailors. That news is even now speeding its way to the isles, to the families of those we have lost to the sea. I regret that I cannot go with it, but let my words be carried, as well: I will not let them suffer through their mourning in fear of starvation, eviction, or foreclosure. Even now I have ships coming to carry aid to the families of those sailors, in the form of food, and lost wages, and textiles, and fuel. I know well the fighting men - and women - of Thrax will see to their safety. I am a mother, and I will see to their comfort, and their security.
This day, I also name Lord Darrow Darkwater a voice of Darkwater, to oversee such rebuilding and re-arming as is necessary for our people to thrive.
