Regarding the Inquisition's brief foray into stone forestry
Posted by Laric on 02/03/18
Citizens of Arx,
Several months ago, the Inquisition received a report of a superstitious cult impinging on Stonewood March. With the wise sanction of the march's ruler, Marquis Malesh Stonewood, the Inquisition began an official inquest. The cult had been defiling a petrified forest for some time, worshipping a dark bastardization of the goddess Lagoma rooted in idealizing 'stillness'. They chose the forest as it was a holy site for Lagomans long ago, where many festivals celebrating the change of seasons and great events were held.
The cult performed ritual sacrifices within the stone woods and hid their victims within many of the petrified trees. Marquis Malesh did not make the decision to condemn the landmark lightly. The Inquisition applauds his pramgatism and forward thinking. We have seen to the forest's removal and the clean-up of the resulting debris.
His decision was in the best interests of Stonehearth's denizens and protects the land his son Victor is set to inherit. Furthermore, we will be working with the Faith to inform the victim's families and return the recovered remains where feasible. May it be known throughout the kingdom that the people of our Compact will not suffer such discovered indignities. While the Stonewoods have lost their forest, they have gained a beautiful meadow in its place, a fitting change considering the area's history.
We are certain House Stonewood will put this new tract of land to good use.
We believe most members of the cult have been apprehended, but some may have escaped and they could have offshoots elsewhere. As always, the Inquisition strongly encourages the citizens of Arx to contact an Inquisitor or the Master of Questions if they are aware of anything that may be connected, whether it is within the city's walls or abroad. Any other concerns may be sent to the High Inquisitors or the Master of Questions' office.

The Faith of the Pantheon looks forward to working with the Inquisition more closely in future cases of this nature. Much more closely.

In turn, the Inquisition looks forward to having a two way street with the Faith regarding dangerous and illegal cult activities.

House Grayson praises the diligence of the Inquisition in ending such a vile threat in the Crownlands. Well-done!
