Issuance of Narciso's Candles

A ceremony that is thankfully not common but becoming a bit more notable occurs briefly one morning outside the House of Questions. High Inquisitor Alistair Velenosa holds the small ceremony, which is attended mostly by members of the Inquisition, but a few other parties are present as well:
"This matter has been pondered for some time. The new tradition of lighting a candle bearing the moniker of Inquisitor Narciso Artiglio was originally intended to honor agents of the Inquisition, those who have assisted the Inquisition directly, and those who have perished during the Inquisition's watch. The battle we wage to keep the Compact safe is for many purposes. One such purpose is that so the battles we saw at Darkwater, Stormwall and Setarco do not have to be fought. Thus, today we light three candles, to honor those who fought, and those who died: By the lighthouse of Darkwater, peering into the abyss; off the shores of Setarco and before its walls that held; and within mighty Stormwall, that did not yield without a proper toll. The lights of these candles will burn for all days, until the day that marks when victory was declared. Then its light will be snuffed as a memory of the battles waged, the lives saved and the lives lost. So that we may never forget."
And with that, three candles are lit, each larger then normal to commemorate how many were lost and how many fought. As the flame flickers to life, the candles are brought into the House of Questions.

The recognition of lives lost in service is indeed commendable. The reminder of Inquisitor Narciso Artiglio's sacrifice is as well.

We salute those who give their lives in the fight against the Abyss. May the day come soon when these candles need not shine any longer.
