The Faith and the Compact
Posted by Aldwin on 06/16/18
To my beloved children,
These past few years have been very difficult for the Compact, and we have experienced change that could shake the faith of many. In these troubled times, more turn to the institutions of their birth, the ones that have stood strong despite the test of time and endured adversity that has reduced so much to dust. And it is the responsibility of the Church of the Faith of the Pantheon to be the bedrock upon which the Compact rests.
Change can be necessary and good, but some change erode the very strength of these foundations upon which we all depend. And as more and more Abandoned bend the knee and join the Compact, it is my responsibility to make certain that our foundations stand firm, so that we are here, welcoming and strong, in generations from now. It is long been the responsibility of Abandoned that join the Compact to commit themselves to truly becoming a part of the wonderful society that has endured for a thousand years. And as of late, I fear that many cling to traditions that should be set aside and show that they are truly now a part of us, and not merely an outsider that survives in the shadow of the Compact.
The danger of schism is simply too great if this goes unchecked, and it is with a heavy heart that I must make take steps to prevent this. As of this moment, the Faith of the Pantheon's discipleships will accept no disciples that worship anything but the Faith of the Pantheon. While we welcome visitors that still cling to shamanist traditions to visit the Great Cathedral, to worship and pray in shrines, they will not be permitted to teach others about the Faith. They may not join the Scholars of Vellichor, the Mercies of Lagoma, the Knights of Solace, the Templars, or any other institution of the Church. All of those who practice shamanistic worship will be removed from discipleships immediately, but if they renounce shamanism, they will be happily welcomed back.
--- Sanna Stance (from Cirroch) ---
House Sanna understands and respects The Dominus' discision. Those who pratice the worship of spirits should not belong to orginzations that have the objective to teach a faith that is not of their own.
--- Leary Stance (from Fairen) ---
This is a particularly radical 'expression' of our strength and unity. Forgive our... Skepticism.
--- Amadeo Stance (from Duarte) ---
House Amadeo recognizes the Dominus can make these sorts of decisions and has no opinion about it.
--- Acheron Stance (from Rhea) ---
Makes sense! Sounds good. Have fun having Faith, disciples!
--- Spirit Walkers Stance (from Khanne) ---
Nothing I want to say can be said in so few words. I believe in Unity and Understanding. May this separation not endanger us all when troubled times come.
--- Redrain Stance (from Darren) ---
Redrain respects the right of the Faith to manage its own affairs; however, many devout Northerners who served the Faith are now barred from service due to secondary beliefs. We mourn this divisive move that threatens unity.
--- Templars Stance (from Preston) ---
The Templars, as always, hear and obey the commands of the Dominus. It will pain us if we lose any disciples, but life is not always comfort and love for brothers transcends discipleship.
--- Laurent Stance (from Cristoph) ---
House Laurent steadfast with the Faith of the Pantheon and wholeheartedly supports this direction taken by the Dominous.
--- Grayson Stance (from Tikva) ---
House Grayson entirely supports the Dominus in his choice to permit only the exclusively Faithful to serve the Faith.
--- Nightgold Stance (from Lydia) ---
Nightgold stands with our Liege Darren and Redrain. By their acts we shall know them. I see prodigals doing good works and here The Faith is turning them away. It makes one pause to think, doesn't it?
--- Ashford Stance (from Harlan) ---
Ashford respects and supports the Faith and the Dominus in his choice. There is concern however, in how divisive this may be. Including the Scholars in this could ultimately cause us to lose access to brilliant minds and researches because they believe differently.
