Abdication

Q: How does the general population feel about a noble abdicating a title/position? Is it a (SPOILER!) Frozen 2 type of situation where it's like "Oh, it's the best thing to do for the lands and people so it's cool" or does it get some side-eye about not taking one's responsibilities seriously?

A: It depends on case by case. It's seen as vastly more responsible for a noble to give up their title to marry a commoner for love than it is for them to try to ennoble the commoner, as an example, as that represents a clear sacrifice showing their sincerity. On the other hand, if their abdication is followed by say a succession crisis and war, they probably won't get much approval. So it's usually graded on outcome more than intent.
