Cheryl the Assistant Innkeeper, Scourge, a sweater wearing rat-dog arrive, following Mae.
Meriah pats Kalani on the shoulder playfully. "If you fall and break all your bones, I'll fix you right up. Don't fret a pinch, dove."
Boots, Chip, a small mouse arrive, following Valery.
"But there was a meeting." Cora says a little confused, "And but huh?" She doesn't get what Reigna means. Shaking her head she grins, "Besides you said spend the night, there was no further instructions beyond that. I did exactly as I was ordered." She nods feeling vindicated even as she makes little waves to the baby, though she isn't moving to get nearer cause that requires motion. Godric gets a wave as well, see you sneaky sneak. "Yeah but lets avoid bone breaking anyway, common sense and some precautions should help with that."
Rey takes the young boy and settles him in her arms as she smiles brightly to Reigna, "You are welcome, we will just be over there and within eye sight.." She then looks down at the young lord and makes introduction. "Hello Lord Talis, I am Lady Rey Laveer and I will be you seat while your Mother explains a few things to the best Healers in the city.." She winks at Reigna just as the boy reaches for a braid of white hair and Rey finds a comfortable place to settle down. Godric is given a beautiful if shy smile as she passes as if inviting him to sit if he wishes.
Once she's divested of her youngest, and she's certain he's not mauling poor Lady Rey, Reigna moves over to her desk, picking up an extra large parchment and handing it over to Gigi and Phinnaes. "Can you please hold up the map?" She smiles to her helpers and then turns to those gathered. She waits a minute or so, making sure everyone has time to take a seat in the chairs she's had gathered for just that purpose. Once everyone is settled and the map of the Lodge and surrounding area is on display, she looks to the gathered. "Thank you all for coming. How many of you present have heard whispers about incoming trouble regarding the Lodge of Petrichor?"
There's first a very firm 'stay!' that can be heard just outside the doors of the hospital. Then, in a flutter of dark silk and the jingle of bells, Mae enters. She's just a smidge breathless, obviously having ran over.
Valery is late! She arrives in a rush and with her basket of mice. Yes, she brought her nice to the hospital. But they are kept in the basket, the lid closed, and they are mostly quiet so no one should know unless they already know they are there, right? She looks for a place to sit, trying to be as quiet as possible.
Rey dips her chin to Reigna instead of raising hands that are busy with the child.
Dove? Godric looks over at Meriah with one of those looks and mouths, "Dove, really?" He tries to return Rey's smile though it may appear more as a grimace, though he hasn't sat down at all before Reigna begins. "Heard all about it." He confirms, sounding none too thrilled.
Meriah looks at Godric for a moment and then sticks out her tongue at him. The height of wit and snappy-comebacks. She doesn't speak though, not wishing to interrupt. A shake of her head signals she has no idea about the Lodge.
Lethe arrives a little early and waits patiently. As more people arrive she gives a nod to them. She looks to Reigna. "I have heard a little about it."
Once everyone is distracted finding seats, Cora nabs the one nearest her and settles into it. At the question she nods, "Yep, heard about it and still trying to see how many of me I need to make to hit everywhere I need to be."
Instead of taking a seat, Kalani too leans against an open space of wall and lifts one hand in reply to the question that Reigna asks. "I am given to understand that Grayson will be organizing defenders of the Lodge, proper, while others of us will be staged around the various approaches."
Godric grunts quietly in agreement with Coraline, cause that is something of a new thing for him - needing to duplicate oneself for the good of humanity and all. Also, he makes a face back at Meriah. But he tries to do it when nobody else is looking.
Valery nods at the question and murmurs. "I heard about it, yes... I'm making some cureall from the suncatchers we brought to the Lodge and transplanting some to the Stone Grove. "Meriah may get a wave is she looks her way. Same other people she knows.
Mae says nothing. She just keeps eyes on Reigna as she drifts over and ends up settling down beside Coarline. She flashes a smile to the princess, then looks back to Reigna.
Reigna looks around the room tallying up the yays and nays and the nods. She's in Scholar-mode which is slightly different than her healer-mode, her voice taking on a slight sing-song cadence that works with her thick Oathlands accent that is already fairly slippery and sing-song as it is. She nods to Kalani and says, "Yes, I will get back to that and detail it further, but I am going to give a quick explanation for those who are not aware of the challenges we are going to be facing." Reigna gets serious for a moment and then takes a deep breath, "The forces of the Horned God, the Herald of the Archfiend of Slavery are gathering and preparing to descend on the Lodge of Petrichor." She lets that rest, looking to each face gathered. "This is not the first time we have gathered to fight such forces. Those of us that went to Stormwall or Setarco faced something similar, but I have been told that this is going to be much, much worse."
Mae gets a welcome smile and a companionable welcome hug if she will allow it, but Cora's attention is pretty much all on Reigna's words, herself in serious mode now. She nods as Stormwall and Setarco are mentioned as well and that it is said that what is coming is meant to be much worse.
Rey blinks once but as Reigna speaks of Stormwall her eyes go distance and the green seems to pale slightly and the whispers of Moon-struck might come to mind. But her arms are secure on the child and as he tries to put one of her braids into his mouth she shakes her head and pulls it out giving him a soft smile and a cuddle before her attention turns back to Rei, just slightly more pale than before... tho really that is hard to tell.
Tucking her hands into the front pockets of her vest, Kalani nods to Reigna but - like everyone else so far - stays nice and quiet while their guildmistress gives the mission briefing.
"Archwhat of what," Meriah says quietly, maybe she didn't mean to say it--or maybe those words hardly sounded real coming out of Reigna's mouth. The Master Physician clears her throat and falls back to silence, the idea of fighting and so forth made her scratch at her eye-patch with a kind of subdued nervous energy.
"As my good friend the High Inquisitor told me yesterday," Godric begins, in a deceptively soothing voice. "Don't worry it can always get worse." Maybe they aren't actually good friends. Okay, more like that's his boss. But the words really did happen!
There is a subtle shift in Reigna's posture after the mention of Stormwall, a slight hunch to her shoulders, a little flash of something so briefly lost. She shakes herself out of it rapidly enough that it could easily be missed. When she speaks again, there is only a slight deepening husk to her voice, "One of the powerful agents of the demons of the Abyss, Meriah. We can discuss the theological explanation after, but... they are extremely powerful and possess all manner of abilities that defy our understanding of how the world works. This one, for instance, is able to steal names, and through that name stealing, strips foes of their very identity, enslaving them into the hive-mind. As awful as that sounds, we are not going to battle without our own protections. And honestly? With a few exceptions," She nods to Coraline, "We are not going to be on the front lines. As Lady Kalani mentioned previously, there is going to be a centrally located triage hospital, set up within the Lodge itself." She points to the centralized circle on the map. "There are five other locations that need defending, and there will be forces set there. I will be looking for volunteers to hold down the triage hospital and looking for others to lead the combat medic units I will be placing at the other five locations."
Rey speaks up softly, "I have been asked to be on the front lines with the diplomats as a Mercy. Those who are going to be doing things that are..dangerous.." Silly but she doesn't say that, she just looks up and meet Rei's eyes. "If I can do something for the healers on that front, please let me know.." Her voice is veryvery soft but the child is keeping her in the here and now.
"Where I am stationed with the Thrax forces I will be commanding a unit anyway, no reason why I can't help with the combat medics stationed there. While I might be busy during the fighting, after I will be free to help. I think..." Cora grows quiet a moment considering, "Unless I end up with another responsibility, then again I will get back to you on that." She nods.
"I volunteer," Mae offers up, lifting a hand as she does. "To be in the combat, whatever that looks like," she says, with a smile.
"Kaldur and I will be stationed with others at the Spirit Grove," Kalani volunteers this information with a wave of one hand toward the map. "We're going to be in the company of Redrain and the Shamans, from what I understand so far. I can take point in that area for any other combat healers that can be spared."
Godric nods towards Reigna before realizing he's a little back in the crowd. So he lifts a hand bbriefly signal first. "I can take triage hospital. If I am needed for something else, I'll give you plenty of notice to replace me." He seems fairly confident this is where he will be of more use though.
Meriah hesitates a moment and looks around as everyone stakes their claims. She takes in a breath and says, "I'll be best at the triage hospital. But I'll do everything I can while I'm there."
Lethe looks to Reigna. "I'll volunteer for wherever I'm needed. I don't have any prior plans."
Reigna moves to her desk and grabs a quill and paper. As people begin calling out their choices, she is taking them down. She looks back to the map and nods. She looks back to those gathered, first to Rey. "Rey, when you say with the diplomats, do you mean in the Burrow? The Fuzzybottom Chapterhouse?" There is an immediate upward lift of Reigna's lips when she says that, and, perhaps trying for a moment of lightness explains to the others, "The Fuzzybottoms are a Knightly Order dedicated to Petrichor. Comprised of animals. Stoats and cougars, I have heard of."
Mae blinks. Then covers her mouth, as some giggles come out. "Won't we need a vet, then?"
Valery bites her lower lip and murmurs. "I'm going to be helping with the children of the ward whose parents are going to be in the front lines. There is going to be an attack in Farhaven too... But I can help with the wounded once back in the city, and I'll make as much cureall and ointments I can to supply you..." She thinks for a moment. "Well, if anyone with apothecary skills wants to help me with the medicines, I'll be grateful..."
Meriah looks down at Triage, who has reappeared to rub his big eared head on her leg, and pets him. "See? Why can't you be more ambitious like that?" She shames her lazy companion.
Exhaling a sigh of words, "And unicorns. I'm still trying to believe that one, but as all of the rest of this is true, then being prepared to spot a unicorn while all this is happening is probably best to be settled on in advance," Kalani doesn't -exactly- mutter these words but she can't resist shaking her head. Because. unicorns.
Godric gets that 'nope' look of incredulity as the Fuzzybottoms are mentioned for the second time in his hearing. Or maybe its pained. A memory of the hangover he gave himself with the bottle of whiskey after hearing about knightly animals for the /first/ time yesterday.
Rey ponders a moment, "I am not sure, but I doubt it. I have been told little of it, but will update you as soon as I know. As for the burrow.. that seems more than interesting.." She even smiles and then glances towards Valery, "I can help with the getting the supplies really. My skills as a apothecary are yours.." She dips her chin as the bay in her lap pulls at her braid again. "And in general can help set up supplies for the main area as well.." This to Rei.
After saying how she's helping and asking for support on her task, Valery just sits quietly and listens to the others. She's staying here the whole meeting, really. To the end. (Unless something really weird will happen, then maybe she left before).
Reigna flashes a grin at Mae and says, "Duke Aiden Rubino will be on hand, stationed at the Burrow. While he does not have the time to commit to us, he still has his medical training." She looks to Valery and nods, "Your legendary skills are much, much appreciated, Goodwoman Valery, you have my deepest thanks." Reigna moves back to the map and points to the northeast marker, "This is the Fuzzybottom Chapterhouse, and will be defended by The Crimson Blades, the King's Own and the Fuzzybottoms. If you want to be stationed here, the point of contact is Dame Eleanor of the King's Own." She looks around the room and then touches the eatern marker. "This is the Watchtower. This is where we are deploying scouts, our chorus of Spellsingers and it will be guarded by Thrax." She nods towards Cora, "Princess, you will need to focus on your martial duties and need not be distracted from your task. I will make sure there is a physician on sight to lead the combat medics. If anyone would like to volunteer here, the point of contact is Calaudrin of the Iron Guard." She continues moving in a clockwise direction, to the south, "This is the unicorn pastures. The unicorns are apparently usually invisible, but they gather in the fields here. House Valardin and House Keaton will be defending them. Volunteers interested in leading the medic team here should contact Marquis Kael Keaton." There is a flicker of a smile as she speaks her husband's name. Pointing to the northwest marker she says, "This is the Spirit Grove. This is going to be defended by House Redrain forces, the Spirit Walkers and House Riven. If you want to be stationed here, speak to Lady Kalani." Reigna nods to the lady and offers her a smile. "Last, we have the Caves. Defended by the Mirrorguard and Society of Explorers, this is going to be a low-light situation, and that needs to be taken into consideration. The points of contact there are Princess Lou or Mirari, leader of the Mirrorguard."
Boots, Chip, a small mouse leave, following Valery.
Cora huffs and looks disappointed she can't jump in on the healin fun times, she does /not/ pout, cause princess' and knights don't pout...nope...never....ok she is totally pouting
Raising one hand as she pushes off from the wall, "We aren't expecting this to be any sort of conventional fight. Not, of course, that any fight ever goes as planned. But be flexible, be prepared to think on the fly, adjust in lateral logical leaps and don't trust what you're eyes are seeing at first glance. If unicorns can make themselves invisible when they prefer, who knows what this Gargantuan will bring with him to the field," Kalani's words are grim and bluntly phrased.
"I would like to help /Lord Commander/," Mae puts an emphasis on those words, "Eleanor defend the fuzzybottoms. Unless I'm needed elsewhere. I'll likely do better in the more dangerous situations."
"I know that was a lot to take in all at once." Reigna offers with a touch of apology, and as Kalani speaks she nods, "Yes. Be wary for anything that does not feel right." As Mae speaks, Reigna turns towards her and bows her head, "You are quite right, Mistress Mae. I apologize, I should have used her full title. Lord Commander Eleanor." There is a smile of apology offered the woman, before she looks around to the others. "So we have Lady Kalani in the Grove, Mistress Mae in the Burrow. Does anyone wish to cover either the caves, the Watchtower or Unicorn fields?"
Rey thinks for a moment before she speaks again. "The mission I will be on might be before the mass battle, if so, and I am back. I will either take the field once more or can be at the Unicorn fields.." For you know.. unicorns.
"Guildmistress, it would also help if we could organize runners to get water out to the combatants or just a supply cache that we can fall back to, if the fight turns into a slog that isn't just a few hours of intense insanity. Also," and Kalani leans against the wall again, "there's no standard 'dress code' for what people are going to show up in. Is there something that all healers will be wearing so we can identify others on the fly with a single look? It gets chaotic."
Cora just nods along totally not pouting that she can't do all the things. Kalani's suggestion though kicks her out of her not pout, "I would say set up a location to keep combatants hydrated away from the action. Do not send unarmed people in the middle of a fight with nothing but water to protect them. We should hae some heading off to pull injured out of the field though. They need to be fast and strong and focused."
Reigna looks over to Kalani and nods, "The Lodge is in the center, our supplies will be set up there and we will be having runners sending additional needs out to the spokes of the wheel on trips back from bringing the injured to the Lodge. The Knights of Solace and the Iron Guard will be defending the Lodge, as well as Grayson military. They will be well defended. As to apparel, we all have our Physicians robes, color coded to rank. All have the badge of the guild on them. We should stand out."
Lethe looks to Reigna and everyone. "I'm not really sure where I'd be the most useful. Perhaps it's better if I help out at the triage hospital."
Mae stares for a moment, then blinks. "What's my rank?"
Mae isn't the only one wondering, "I don't really know mine, either," Kalani admits.
Reigna looks to Mae for a moment and seems to be thinking. "I believe you are set as an apprentice. If you would like to take your Physicians test, we can do that soon." She nods to Lethe and offers a smile, "Your talents will be most appreciated, Lady Lethe. The hospital will have the highest population, as only emergent cases will be treated in the field and once they are stabilized, they will be transported back to the hospital." She looks back to Kalani and she says, "You are a Physician rank, my lady."
Rey glances up from the lovely eyes of Reigna's son and smiles almost shyly, "I have my Mercies robes but I will wear my Physician's under it, anyone for people to know the tiny ghost is a healer.." She is amused about that.
"I will have my robe on under my armor as well." Cora stubbornly says.
"An apprentice!" Mae declares. Then she considers, and she shrugs. "I mean, I don't feel like an apprentice." But clearly Mae has fallen into her own thoughts.
"I would never suggest that you do not, Princess." Reigna says with a smile to Coraline. She looks to Mae and tilts her head, nodding. "My experience of your skills would suggest that you are more than prepared for your Physicians test, Mistress Mae."
Mae flashes a smile to Reigna, then pops up to her feet. "Another time, then! I've got a theater to make sure hasn't burnt down." Mae then turns quickly and leans over, to press a kiss to Coraline's cheek. "I'll write the Lord Commander," she adds, to Reigna. And with that, Mae's heading for the door.
Cora smiles Mae's way and sneaks in another hug before the woman is gone, "Enjoy and stay safe!" She nods at Reigna's words looking relieved. "Ok, whew, right well gotta stay useful you know."
"I have to admit, the thing that scares me the most when something like this is in the works is the idea of pulling a wounded enemy into the triage center and having him, it, her, what ever, go berserk and hurt more wounded," Kalani's voice is quiet as she says this. "Where is the line? Do we try to heal enemy wounded if they're in our path or only focus on our elements until the fight is over?"
Cheryl the Assistant Innkeeper, Scourge, a sweater wearing rat-dog leave, following Mae.
3 Armed Confessors have been dismissed.
Cujo, the cadaver canine have been dismissed.
Cheryl the Assistant Innkeeper, Scourge, a sweater wearing rat-dog arrive, following Mae.
Reigna inhales a deep breath as she looks to Kalani, "That is... difficult to answer. In Stormwall we faced these... desiccated... coprse-like creatures. They were held on leashes by the Herald of Hunger and... they attacked by biting and were in no way human. From what I heard of what transpired in Setarco, they were beset by monsters. These dog-like creatures with spiny growths and massive teeth. This Herald enslaves humans to his will, so I do not know what it is we are going to face. I would say focus on our forces. Do not bring fallen enemies into the Lodge. It sounds cruel, but the risks are too great if one should breech our defenses."
Cheryl the Assistant Innkeeper, Scourge, a sweater wearing rat-dog leave, following Mae.
Lethe nods to Reigna. "I'll be there at the hospital then." She watches Mae as she leaves with a smile. She looks to Kalani. "There are always risks, but I agree about not bringing the enemy into the lodge."
"Alright," Kalani replies after a silent moment of what amounts to soul searching matched with combat sense. "Alright. So. Enemies get to stay where there are on the field, woe unto them if they brought no healers with them. Should we win the day, I hope there is some way to free them from their nameless enslavement. If not, perhaps we can grant them mercy and freedom at the same time."
"Yes. I will pray for them, and I will do everything I can to help them after the battle has ended successfully. It does not sit well with me either, my lady." Reigna bows her head and then motions for her helpers to put the map away. She turns to those still gathered. "Are there any questions before we move on?"
Kalani is overheard praising Reigna: She knows her way around a battle briefing, which is one thing, but she also knows how to sort and allocate all the healers so that we're staged logically around this coming battle. It's such a boon to have a leader who knows what she's doing.
"I believe death is not freedom in most of these situations. From what I have heard anyway. And yes it isn't the same as regular mortal enemies, they are not who they once were. Tactically it would be possible after the battle to try to help them in a contained location so that they might not harm others in the process of being helped but I don't anticipate that until the thing that has enslaved them is gone that they will be freel. Possibly not even after that." Cora shakes her head as she speaks, looking sad for those in such a situation.
Reigna looks around to those gathered and when there are crickets to the ask for additional questions, Reigna nods, "Alright, if there is anything you need to ask me afterward, any questions you have about the forces of the Abyss and the enemies we are facing, that is fine, just see me after and I will explain all that I can. The only other point of business I have is to address some rumors that I have heard circulating. There's been some chatter concerning a healer making his way to Arx. He's apparently got quite the following for his alchemical skills, though I have not had any success in finding any books that he has written. His name is Galinius Roderic."
Cora nods at mention of the name, "I heard rumors of him as well, he is meant to be wandering the city right? I heard he is looking for an apprentice?" She pipes up.
"I hope the man isn't all snake oil and personality," Kalani murmurs with a grimace.
"Most men are," Meriah comments.
Laughing, Kalani grins at Meriah, "To be fair, we're all stuff and nonsense at some point. But the Snake oil and personality cult can be dangerous if not deadly."
Reigna stifles a snort at Meriah's quip, shaking her head slightly, clearly not taking it very seriously. "He is either here, or almost here. But I would like it if one or two of you might go and check him out. If he is a charlatan, I do not want him peddling poison to our people." SHe nods to Kalani's words, "Yes, precisely, Lady Seliki."
Lethe looks to Reigna. "He sounds interesting, but I can't say I've heard much about him." She frowns. "I don't like the idea of him peddling any poisons and hurting people."
Rey glances up again, she was having baby time, "My skills as alchemicmist is almost as good as my healing. I can see what he is doing and if it's helpful or harmful. I will simply need someone to send me a message if they see him.."
"I'm sure we'll all find out, soon enough. If I run into him, I promise to take notes and share what I know," Kalani offers with a firm nod to Reigna then to Lethe and Rey in turn. "He'll probably be flattered to have a handful of ladies suddenly paying attention to him," there is just the tiniest bit of cynicism there in her tone of voice. Just a smidge.
Cora laughs at Meriah's words but nods at the rest, "I can try and check him out though I know next to nothing about alchemy. At the least I can see if those who use his wares suffer and I can purchase some myself to bring back."
For his part, Little Lord Talis can be exceptionally charming. He's got about five or six visible teeth when he smiles, which is often. And he burbles and blows raspberries as he grins up at Rey. And while he like likes to grab at her braids, he's actually quite gentle with them. Though he does drool on them. Because baby.
Lethe looks to Rey. "I'm not as as good at alchemy as you are, but I should be learning more soon. It's something I've always enjoyed, but I obviously wouldn't use what I know to hurt people. If I see him I'll let you know."
"Fantastic. Thank you, all of you." Reigna says with a smile, looking around she asks, "Are there any questions or concerns any of you have that you would like to bring forward? If not, we can consider the meeting over, and I will offer my gratitude for your time. I know we are all quite busy."
Rey glances over to Lethe, "Thank you and if I could teach I would offer pointers, but everytime I try it I seem to drift into other thoughts.." She blushes at that, "But if you see him, or even if you don't. We can get together and talk shop while we follow rumors.." She then turns to Rei as the baby becomes even more adorable. "Thank you for taking the time to share. Getting the information is always the hardest.."
"Thank you for sharing Guildmistress." Cora adds to the thanks with a smile.
Pushing away from the wall she's been leaning against, Kalani walks over to smile at Reigna's son before looking up again and grinning. "This is actually the highlight of my day. I'm dragging my cousin shopping for armor and gear, and I can't imagine how long that's going to take. Thank you for organizing this," she adds with a deep nod to Reigna. "It's so nice to meet everyone too."
Meriah rubs the back of her neck. That toothy grin fading a bit. She nods to Reigna, "If he's taking advantage of people, we'll expose him...and probably feed him to stray cats or something."
Lethe nods to Rey with a smile. "I'm not much of a teacher either. It would be nice to just get together and talk." She looks to Reigna. "Yes thank you."
