I attended a wonderful session of teaching and learning organized by Lady Kaia Malvici. She is excellent at organizing and instructing students. I learned so much from her about investigation and hope to learn more from her in future.

Several other instructors were there, each skilled and ready to teach. Cirroch learned some very important things as well. I am very happy I attended.

2 House Velenosa Guards arrives, following Baldessare.

As it is customary, the scholars of the Vellichorian Academy gather once again at the main hall to offer their tutelage in various subjects of interest. Somewhere by the front of the student desks are Kaia and Vitalis who seem to be discussing about the topics that are to be presented. The lady would look over to the ones arriving and offer them a smile. "Welcome! Welcome. We shall begin shortly. Make yourselves comfortable."

Tila comes into the room, smiling at Cirroch and Kaia. She sits down at one of the Student Desks.

Tila has joined the Student Desks.

Caprice has arrived just a little early to claim a seat - briefly torn, it seems, between marking herself as a potential student or finding somewhere further in the back to observe. In the end she takes a spot amongst the desks, front and center, a journal, quill and inkpot arranged within easy reach.

Kaia has joined the Teachers Desk.

Oswyn dashes in from the outside, pausing to kick the snow off his boots in the threshhold. "Pardon," he says, moving past the students to join Vitalis and Kaia at the front. "Hello. I decided to stop by to help. I hope that's alright." He starts tugging off his gloves and stuffing them into his coat pockets.

Oswyn has joined the Teachers Desk.

Baldessare steps in with a decisive gait, moving to join the students. He gives nods to Cirroch, Tila, Kaia, and Oswyn as he moves through the room.

Baldessare has joined the Student Desks.

Faye steps into the room with the others, giving a nod of greeting to acquaintences and those she recognizes. She finds a seat and settles in to listen.

Cirroch not wanting to be late for the offered classes had left in the middle of an advisors meeting, which prompted the guards and Petroc to charge after the Marquis as he simply grabbed at a coat in mid-stride out the door. This means that the large dog known as Bear also followed along as no one was thinking to keep him in the Giant Hall. He's currently fidgeting at a students desk trying to get comfortable

Cirroch has joined the Student Desks.

Kaia grins at Oswyn and nods. "That's more than alright, Messere Oswyn. That's actually perfect! We are glad to have you here." she notes with a nod. A little wave is issued to Baldesarre, Tila and Cirroch as she catches sight of them.

Thea ventures inside, poking her head around a corner. She smiles a moment over at Kaia. "I just came to see if you needed help and things,"her eyes looking at all the students. "Hey,"she greets with a brief grin.

Oswyn smiles quickly and nods to Vitalis --- spying some familiar faces among the crowd, he nods to several people in turn - Baldessare, Thea, Faye. Otherwise he's pretty unintimidating and essentially a friendly face regardless of whether he's been encountered before or not.

Caprice twirls her quill between finger and thumb, sending the dun-colored feathered end fluttering in a circle. Like others, she offers murmured greetings, smiles and nods for teachers and students alike. Baldessare earns a warming smile all for himself, delight brightening the artisan's features. "Your Highness. Good to see you!"

There's a bright smile offered to Thea, "Oh, certainly! Join us.~" says Kaia, a gentle gesture to the teacher's desks. Her eyes take note of Faye and she waves. "Messere Ruger I'm glad to see you were able to make it! Welcome."

Tila waves to Kaia before turning to Cirroch. "What is Bear learning today?" She shoots Cirroch an amused grin.

Thea has joined the Student Desks.

Cirroch looks down to see Bear sitting next to him, he has apparently been not getting nearly enough sleep lately and was oblivious to the dog following. He leans back to answer Tila, "Possibly stealth as to hide from Entreri when he is seeking a ride."

Baldessare inclines his head to Caprice, returning her smile. "Messere Artiglio. It's always a delight to see you."

Merek walks along and into the place to settle in and listen to the teaching, taking the time to adjust the scarf which he wears.

Kaia would begin to move about along with a few other scholars and start giving the students a piece of parchment. Ink and quills already ready atop the desks. "Please, write in the topic of interest. We shall have our instructors move to you once we know the topics that we are to guide you on."

Cirroch looks at the parchment and scratches out as best he can, funny story...while he can read and write, he doesn't write very often that's what Petroc is for, thus the two skills he's looking for them good learnings in are a little mispelled, scratched out then tried to write it again. Then just handed back to Kaia with a small aside

Thea nods her head, looking a bit pleased. She walks over to one of the desks and eyes the class. Not even serious. Where's her RULER!

Caprice dutifully makes her short list in an elegant hand, turning it back in for the teachers to arrange match-ups. A second parchment is drawn close for her to write...something else. A note to pass in class. Ugh, one of -those- students.

Once divested of his winter hat and gloves and the like, Oswyn produces some papers from his satchel and taps them into a neater pile on the front desk.

Baldessare considers his paper, starting and stopping several times before scrawling two phrases in a deliberately lazy hand. He folds it, hiding what he has written, and sets it aside.

Tila writes one word in a quick yet legible hand. She carefully blows on the parchment before passing it back.

Faye smiles faintly in Oswyn's direction. "Master Oswyn, it's good to see you again. It feels like it has been quite some time since we've crossed paths." She gives a nod of thanks to Kaia as well. "Luckily I had a little free time and could stop by." When passed the piece of paper, she writes a quick note and then sends it on.

"It has been too long, hasn't it?" Oswyn remarks to Faye. He smiles a little, close-lipped, crookedly. "I hope you've been well."

Kaia offers a smile to Cirroch and nods as he hands her his piece of parchment. Soon enough, the Malvici and scholars are collecting the notes and working on the pairings. "Hmn, let's see..." she comments, handing some of the documents to Oswyn, Thea, Vitalis and the others. "That should work, right?"

"Well enough, and the work continues," Faye replies to Oswyn. "Though I think the more I learn about, the more things get added to my list to study. Lately travel has interrupted some of my projects, but I'm hoping to free up some time soon."

Looking over the documents, Thea nods. "I think so, yes,"she tells Kaia and others with a smile. "I'll head over there now,"and off she goes.

Oswyn takes the paper from Kaia and nods. "I can do this," he assures her, collecting a stool. He starts toward Baldessare, telling Faye on his way past, "Let me know if I can help with any of your research. And hello again, Prince Baldessare." He plunks the stool down at Baldessare's desk. "Let's see. Ah. Puzzling through riddles can be quite interesting. Mostly it requires methodical thinking and taking note of things you've already thought of or tried. I keep lists, often."

Once the instructors are given the list of students, Kaia moves to find the ones she can assist. Her first victim is Tila. "Lady Tila.~ It seems I'll be helping you learn a few things today." she tells her with a bright smile. "I do hope you have been well."

Baldessare folds his hands on the desk, turning his attention fully to Oswyn. ""I quite enjoyed your research manual. I hope it will help me here." With that, he begins to make his own list of the tips Oswyn provides.

Caprice "I wonder," Caprice raises her hand slightly, feather held high, "if I might make a request of the group before we adjourn? Before we're all too deep in our lessons."

Tila smiles at Kaia. "I have, thank you Lady Kaia. I hope you also have been well." She readies her quill to take notes. "This is a little embarassing as a lawyer to be so unskilled an investigator."

Kaia says, "Please, go ahead, Messere Caprice."

Cirroch sits back into the chair and watches Tila get ready to take notes, then taking up his own quill. "I feel...Out of place with this."

Oswyn looks up at the mention of Caprice's name, squints, and then squints more. He nods in the woman's direction, opening his mouth as if to say something, but seeming to think better of it and returning to his work with Baldessare. "It should. Research is good for... just about everything." He rubs the back of his head, further explaining the reasoning behind many word puzzles and strategies to get past them. Then it's on to diplomacy.

Baldessare shifts in his seat, quickly nodding to Cirroch before turning back to Oswyn.

Kaia grins at Tila and shakes her head. "Worry not! You shall learn all about it soon enough. Now, shall we begin?" she asks, and then begins to give the lady a few pointers. "So, once you have decided on a topic, it might be good to hire some help. Having a few contacts here and there can speed up the whole thing. Oh, it's inmportant to conduct several interviews once you've found a witness or a contact..." she goes on. "Gather as much information as you can, document everything, and then slowly map what you have found. Of course, evaluate it..." she continues for a while.

"Just a quick request," Caprice dips her head in thanks towards Kaia before addressing the group at large, mouth curving in a small smile.

"I've started a long-term project for creating more educational literature; the Scholars know something of it already but I'd like to poll as many as I can to collect subjects that citizens feel are underrepresented in the stacks. So if you or someone you know has ever wished there was a less dry book about, say, a war or a place of interest, or a craft, and so on - please, let me know and I'll make sure it's added to the list of potential research and writing projects. Thank you."

Kaia says, "A wonderful idea, Messere Caprice!"

Oswyn smiles and nods in Caprice's general direction. "An excellent idea. Ah. I was told I should speak to you, though on another matter entirely."

Cirroch is doing his best to pay attention, though /might/ be goofing off and doodling with the quill or staring at the ceiling.

Oswyn speaks quietly with Baldessare. He's a pretty good teacher, and very patient. And encouraging of taking notes.

Thea starts to head over to Caprice and grins. "Ready to learn how to use part of your wiles?" She is joking oc course, but she leans down and begins.

Tila takes copious amounts of notes, asking Kaia several questions. She occasionally glances over at her brother but is obviously trying not to pay too much attention to his behavior.

"There are parts of my wiles I'm not using yet?" Caprice overacts her surprise before breaking in to a low laugh, and scooting her chair aside to make a little more room for Thea at the desk. There's a fond grin for the Lady, and a couple murmured words. Oswyn's comment also briefly draws her curious attention and she nods amiably to him, "Certainly, any time."

"Well, Lady Tila, I belive that's all I can teach you on the matter. Feel free to ask me more questions as you go on." she glances over to Cirroch. "I best go give Marquis Cirroch his lesson before he falls of his desk, hmn?" she says with a playful tone and a wink.

Baldessare continues taking notes and listening to Oswyn. He may be sending glances to Cirroch and goofing off, but a prince wouldn't do that. Would he?

Tila gives Kaia a grateful smile. "Thank you, Lady Kaia. I will probably come looking for more instruction from you at a later date."

Caprice is overheard praising Kaia: A wonderful hostess, whatever the purpose of the event!

Tila is overheard praising Kaia: She is very skilled at organizing all of us.

Oswyn has left the Teachers Desk.

3 Armed Confessors, Orva, a discreet assistant leave, following Faye.

Caprice lingers long over her own lessons. Some of that might just be because she's gossiping with Thea, but really, those are the best kinds of study sessions!

Caprice has left the Student Desks.

Thea has left the Student Desks.

The scholars and students continue on taking their lessons one by one. There's plenty of chattering going about, a bit of laughter here and there. Each focused on their topics of choice. By the time they are all done, students and teachers alike will go home feeling better prepared for whatever it is that awaits for them ahead.
