Gianna

I attended a lovely gathering at the Ashford Orangery, where I made several new acquaintances. The results of Lady Olivia's work are astounding; what a charming place to spend time. And useful, too! She is to be commended.

Softest Saedrus has a deft hand with illustration; the cards for the little game were excellently executed. Very pretty.

The Orangery is open to the city! Though the spring might be here, it is only early, and the nights still carry the winter chill. In here however, it is warm and brightly lit to the brilliant space of the vibrant Orangery. Saedrus is by the entrance, draped in teal silks with a warm smile to greet guests as they arrive. There is certainly plenty to explore, areas to rest and converse, with food and wine enough to keep the hungers at bay.

Relic, 4 Ashford House Guard arrive, following Harlan.

Elizabetta, a disapproving lady-in-waiting, 2 Grayson House Guards, Lily, an aloof lady-in-waiting, Clark, an exasperated guard arrive, following Sabella.

Harlan enters from the main part of the house, apparently having been dealing with ... well, duty. He was likely in his study most of the day. He does seem to relax a bit when he enters, however.

It may come as little surprise that the Steward of House Stonewood is present for the Ashford Orangery's official unveiling. Lorna had been given a little sneak peek by Master Cedric, House Ashford's own Steward, and the pair had kibitzed about the various feats of engineering involved in such a wonderful structure. Now, however, the tall redhead stands alone and off to the side, quietly marveling as the green space.

Olivia stands a little back from the entry beside one of the tables. She offers greetings as people arrive, although there's just the slightest sense of anxiety over it all, and the occasional glance toward the flowers. So many people! She hustles toward Harlan when he arrives. "Oh there you are brother, I'd worried you'd leave me to this all alone! Well, not that Whisper Saedrus isn't here to handle things, but still." Leaving most of the hospitality to said host, her own offerings to the guests are more particularly: "If anyone would like a tour around, or explanations about any of the plants, do feel free to let me know."

A noble pair arrives, one Lord Alexandre Wyrmguard, the other Lady Rosalie RedTyde. The former is clad in simple, unremarkable clothes, as they enter the Orangery, drawn by curiosity, and the opportunity for fine company! "It's fortunate, that I should arrive in time for something like this." Alexandre remarks to Rosalie. Their path takes them to Saedrus, and the man nods to the Whisper, giving a smile. "Are you one of the organizers for this event? I'm afraid I still have many people to know still. Lord Alexandre Wyrmguard, at your service. And Lady Rosalie RedTyde, if you two have not already met." Which, clearly, Alexandre has no idea!

Among the earliest arrivals, Agostino looks around the hall with curiosity gleaming in his dark eyes. There is a hint of a smile on his features as he walks in, dressed in unremarkable black and brown. "Good evening," he greets Saedrus briefly as he passes the Whisper, though not with any familiarity. He does not linger there, though, since others are trying to get into the Orangery behind him.

"It's so beautiful!" Sabella comments enthusiastically upon entering, turnung in a small circle to take it all in as she walks, clasping her hands together. "Look at those flowers! Has it been spring in here all winter?!" She gives Rosalie and Alexandre a big smile and wave, moving over to Harlan and Olivia, "It's glorious! You did such an amazing job!"

Harlan smiles towards his sister, and reaches to pat her arm, "Of course i wouldn't leave you to this. Although, this was all your work. You should be proud of it." He smiles towards SAbella, and inclines his head, "It was Lady Olivia's doing."

Saedrus brightens and bows graciously before Harlan as the Duke arrives, "my Lord, the space is an incredible venue," he compliments. "I must give my compliments to your lovely sister properly soon." The courtier's ever watchful attention turns as Lorna comes through. "Mistress Lorna, weclome, please be comfortable and look about. It is spectacular." And the guests keep coming in! A warm, "Master," to Agostino, "thank you for coming this evening, I hope it is a lovely night. Ah, my Lord, welcome! And new to the city as well? I am honoured enough that Duke Harlan asked for some assistance with the evening, Saedrus Whisper, a pleasure," Saedrus greets with a brilliant smile to both Alexandre and Rosalie. Finally there is the woman of the hour, whom Saedrus gestures to with a smile, "And of course there is Lady Olivia, the creater of this wonderful space. You have done a remarkable job of this, my Lady."

Arriving on Alexandre's arm, Rosalie smiles up at him cheerfully, nodding, "I admit I was very curious about the Orangery myself. The duke had offered to let me see it sometime, but I think I'm glad I waited until now. This is just fantastic!" As they approach Saedrus, her smile brightens and she dips a quick curtsy, "We haven't met yet, though I've heard about you already from Master Aleksei. I am glad to be able to meet you now." Then he's drawing attention towards Olivia and Rosalie offers a broad smile and wave towards Sabella, leaning in to murmur to Alexandre, "We should go greet the Ashfords, and that's Princess Sabella Grayson with them! She's very sweet and a lovely woman."

Olivia smiles, brightly at first, although it turns perhaps a little bashful under sudden attention from many directions at once. "Ah, you are all too kind. My brother knew I needed more space for some of my projects, and so he had this place built for Princess Tikva's gifting day. So I in turn have him to thank, and the Princess as well." Focusing on Sabella, she dips her head. "Thank you, Princess. And the space is not without some seasonal fluctuations. But enough light gets in, and the walls hold enough of it, that it prevents frost and allows some things to grow that might not otherwise, including some rarer or more exotic plants."

"Your Highness, lovely to see you," The Softest Whisper greets of Sabella when he spies her, a gracious bow before the woman. But then, a thought is sparked! And Saedrus looks aside from his greeting of guests with a soft 'oh' of a sound, "before I forget, my most esteemed guests, there is a little parlour game to be played through out the night as you explore the Orangery. There are no prizes beyond just your own enjoyment and having a reason to seek out new conversations." The courtier moves aside where one of his attendants are waiting nearby holding a collection of little drawstring bags. "There is a card in each bag which has a corrosponding card in another of the bags. Your task is to finding the matching pair by discussing your card's description. You do not have to play, it is just a light little game and the cards are tokens to take home as well."

Saedrus drops Flower Card Parlour Game OOC Guide.

Jasher lopes after the others into the Orangery, his gait slowing as he takes in the explosion of shrubbery and colour, the smiling flowers and fruit trees, where his severe attire stands out like a sore thumb. A gloved hand lifts to loosen a few buttons of his longcoat as the climate makes itself keenly felt.

Alexandre nods to Saedrus. "A pleasure. It is certainly well done, both the place, and the opening." he tells the Whisper, smiling, before his attention shifts to the other individuals presented. "Then let's!" he tells Rosalie, and there they go, approaching the Ashfords and Sabella. "Duke Harlan, Lady Olivia, thank you for opening the doors of your Orangery to the city, we are all very appreciative." he tells the two Ashford. "Lord Alexandre Wyrmguard, at your service." he offers in introduction, before shifting his attention to Sabella. "Princess Sabella Grayson, I was told? I was likewise told you were both sweet and lovely. I can so far confirm both these claims."

Olivia gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Harlan nods and smiles, "Lord Wyrmguard, welcome to Ashford -- I'm very pleased to show off my sister's creation to the city." He lets Olivia hold court as much as possible, though!

"If you ever grow any peonies I would be particularly interested," Sabella tells Olive with a smile, before turning to nod to Alexandre, "Lord Alexandre, it's lovely to meet you! And oh, whoever told you that must be very kind and generous with their thoughts," she says with a laugh. "But they have my thanks for the compliment." she gives the bag she is handed a curious look, glancing up in time to see Jasher's arrival, "Prince Jasher! Can you believe Lady Olivia's amazing talents at growing such glorious things?"

It does not take long before Agostino has a drink in hand, a glass of whiskey, though he has not so much as sipped from it yet. For the most part, he is observing those who enter, paying attention to those greeted by name. With a small crowd around the evening's hostess, he keeps his distance for the time being, until he is handed a bag for the game. Opening it, he takes a quick look at the card within, and gets a thoughtful look on his face and begins to look around at the other guests inquisitively.

Gianna makes her way into the Orangery, peering at the little black velvet bag she's handed with interest. Up one eyebrow arches. She gives her hair a toss and has a look around. Coming up beside Jasher, she comments, "A bit warm, are we?"

Jasher looks towards Sabella and nods, once, accepting a bag offered by one of the attendants at their insistence. "It's impressive. Striking."
He glances Gianna's way as she comes up. The comment draws a wry twist at the corner of his lip, but he says nothing more.

Olivia listens curiously as Saedrus mentions the game, and given a bag, opens it to peer at her card. "Oh hmm. So just to try and guess who has it without actually naming the flower? I feel as though I may be cheating a little regardless." One expects she knows the place by heart. "And there are a number of flowers I would like to add," she admits to Sabella. "Although even with all this space, I could likely find hundreds more that I would like to grow. Have you seen the dahlias? They're the most... interesting, I think, because they are not native to this part of the world." Mysterious! Then as Alexandre and Rosalie approach, she dips her head in greeting and offers them both a bright smile. "Oh you're more than welcome, Lord Alexandre. It's a pleasure to have people here."

The little bag offered to Lorna is accepted with a gentle smile and opened with a ginger touch. The young steward steals a little peek at the card within, turning it with a pair of fingers for a moment to discern its contents, her smile growing brighter as she appears quite pleased. Pale blue eyes then lift to survey the expanding crowd of nobles and esteemed guests. "How merry, perhaps gleeful" she says, seeking out her potential companion like a timid songbird making its first call in the forest.

"A few more buttons at least," Gianna tells Jasher on her way past. Someone offers her a drink, and she graciouly accepts it, raising it to her lips for a sip. "Princess Sabella, hello."

Laughing deligthedly as Alexandre leads her off towards their hosts. Smiling brightly towards Harlan and Olivia, Rosalie dips a curtsy towards them and offers, "Duke Ashford, Lady Ashford, thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful event. I've been here mere moments and I already want something like this for the Redtyde Manor!" She looks to her companion and smiles up at him, "Shall we play the game as well? I think between the two of us, we should be able to find the matching flower among the guests." To Sabella, she offers a grin, "Your Highness! Tell me, when are you due? I must make sure to have an absoltuely -divine- gift for the baby."

"It is a beautiful creation, and one that shall last for many years yet, I'm sure. Are flowers and their caring your passion then?" Alexandre both tells and asks Olivia, smiling brightly. There doesn't seem to be a hint of artifice in his approval, dark eyes as honest as his words. To Rosalie's question, he nods. "Yes, let's!" And thus the game begins! With the bag received, the Wyrmguard peers inside. "Mm... I don't suppose anyone is particularly... luxurious?" he queries, glancing at Rosalie, Sabella and Olivia in turn.

Saedrus smiles with a gracious bow before Jasher, "your Highness, welcome. Please," a gesture as very helpful attendants slink up with trays of food and wine. When Gianna arrives there is a more familiar smile for the woman, and Saed dips his head to her. "Gianna, welcome, please enjoy yourself. Lady Olivia and Duke Harlan have created such a curious space here."

"Mistress Gianna," Sabella smiles in greeting to the Nightingale, "Are you here to mingle or did you come to sing?" She bounces a bit when Alexandre says that, "Oh, I am! I don't suppose you're terrible handsome?" She can't quite keep a straight face and laughs again, "Or purple? And the baby should be here next winter. Perhaps the end of November or early December depending on its punctuality." She glances over at Agostino and waves at him, "Hello! I don't suppose you're..." She consults her card, "Lazy?"

Rosalie gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

"Softest," Gianna greets Saedrus, a hint of a smile curving the corners of her lips upward even as she inclines her head. "Thank you. And I'm here to mingle, Your Highness," she tells Sabella, "But I won't say no if I'm asked to sing." Glass in one hand, the little cloth bag and her purse in the other, she heads for Olivia and Harlan. "Thank you for inviting us to your lovely orangery," she says. There's a thing. With the cards. Gianna tucks her purse under her arm and opens up the little bag, peering at the card inside. "I'm looking for something... exciting?"

While Gianna passes by, Jasher satisfies his curiosity by teasing open the bag and prying out the card from within--no small feat with wide hands encased in gloves. He looks at it wordlessly, then slips it back into the bag.
He's undoing just one more cuprite button when Saedrus greets him, and he nods once, affecting a near-smile in return before his feet carry him among the plants as he's spoiled by attendants with snacks and libations. The best part of any gathering.

Carita's appearance is a quiet one but the warmth of the room is clearly appreciated, shown in the ease of her shoulders and the half-lidded smile that appears once inside. She pauses to glance around and search for a familiar face, but despite that, accepts a drink when it's offered.

Agostino is listening for a short time, before something that he hears catches his ear. Taking a sip from the glass of whiskey in his hand, he begins to make his way in a certain direction, before Sabella stops him. Bowing to her deeply, he considers her question for a moment before answering her, "Not tonight, your Highness, though I've certainly been accused of it in the past. My name is Agostino Alnonso, by the way." After introducing himself, he flashes a grin at her before quickly glancing around the hall again.

"The principles behind it's construction are not difficult," Olivia assures Rosalie, seemingly enthusiastic to have other such sanctuaries constructed. "In fact, almost any garden can have its climate altered somewhat even by the inclusion of a few simple stone walls. It's all about the placement really, and how they absorb and hold sunlight and heat." As for Alexandre's question, she can only answer with the greatest of enthusiasm. "Oh yes. Well, not only flowers, but plants generally. Actually, the majority of the plants here are inclined more toward practical use than being pretty - everything is edible, or has some medicinal or cullinary use, and so forth." Now she ponders her card a little, while shaking her head at the inqueries given nearest to her. "I am seeking someone a little more prickly, myself." She turns to offer Gianna a smile as well. "It is my pleasure! Thank you all for coming - and any I've not had the chance to greet yet likewise!"

Upon entering the orangery, Lady Azova Darkwater pauses. Partially to take in her surroundings, partially to search for her more-or-less-sister-in-law, Carita (oh, good, there she is!), and partially to just inhale the smell of orange blossoms. Ahh. That's a nice smell. The Mercy allows herself to smile, to relax, to find her way to Carita's side at a leisurely pace. No need for stress at the moment, she's just here to enjoy the company and the smell. And hey, she even snags a glass of whiskey on the way! Score!

Rosalie takes a peek at her own card, laughing in delight over the card she's received and tucking it away. She remains silent as people begin to seek out their matches, her eyes darting from one querent to the next before settling on Gianna. Smiling, she offers, "I may be exciting, is there anything else to go with that? Or perhaps you are.. charming?" Olivia draws her attention again and she smiles, "We should talk sometime then! Since we're rebuilding Redtyde from the ground up, I'll get to have a say in how the building is placed and what goes into it! I could potentially design an Orangery of my own with optimum placement!" She seems extremely excited by this prospect, a hidden interest perhaps unearthing itself. Looking to Alexandre, she smiles up at him, "I do like this game."

Alexandre laughs at Sabella's reply, mirth dancing in his eyes. "No, I fear I am not handsome. Beautiful, yes. The epitome of elegance in fact. But not handsome. And a far cry from purple, alas." he answers with a grin. To Olivia, he smiles. "Part of the Physicians Guild, I assume? While I have a pronounced interest in medicine, my knowledge of plants remains tied to their effects upon human health, rather than the knowledge to grow such wonders as this." he says, motioning to the area around them. To Rosalie, he grins. "It's certainly fun."

Jasher slowly makes his way around the greenhouse, regarding the various plants in thoughtful silence. His head is cocked slightly as he listens to the ambient conversations going around him.

Saedrus remains by the doors of the Orangery to greet guests. There are gifts of food and drink to be had, as well as the little bags with cards as part of a parlour game being given out! "Lady Carita," an elegant bow before the woman sees snowy white hair spilling along one shoulder before Saedrus rises, "lovely to see you, please do join the others and our lovely Hosts." With a gestures back towards Olivia and Harlan. Carita is handed a little card carrying bag and the Softest Whisper turns aside to speak with his attendants. "Lady Azova," How does he know these people? It's his job!

Gianna inclines her head to Rosalie. "I'm very charming." Then she consults her card and adds, "Also calm and cool and collected. I'm looking for something exciting. Warm and new?" Gianna plucks the card free of her little bag and holds it up for Rosalie.

Gianna gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Harlan deals with a fwe things for a moment before he returns back, happy for the moment to let Olivia ... well, blossom in the middle of her flowers. He does add in, "That is one of the amazing things about the forests -- there are so many things with practical uses. I learned many from Livvie, here, and then more from proxies who deal with merchants and traders. It goes far beyond medicines and teas, weapons and ships."

Sabella snaps her fingers, "I've also been described as beautiful and elegant, but if you aren't purple then I fear we are not a match," she tells Alexandre, giving her card another peek just in case. "Prince Jasher, are you purple?" She calls out to the man with a grin, turning to accept a cup of tea from someone as she finds herself a seat. "The illustrations on these cards are gorgeous. Did you make them yourself?" She asks Saedrus.

Lethe steps into the orangery and looks around with wide eyes. She takes a look at the pouch and card once she's handed it and she looks around to see who she might know. When she notices Rosalie she approaches her. "Lady Rosalie. I didn't expect to see you here." She notices Alexandre and looks to Rosalie. "Is this your date?" She smiles. "If you're talking about the Physicians Guild I'm also a part of it." She turns to Olivia. "It's great to see you again Cousin. It's been so long, but you look absolutely beautiful. I absoutely love this Orangery."

Saedrus drifts away from the doors to go and check on his attendants. He spots Agostino again and smiles, "Have you found the matching card for your own?" he asks the other man curiously. With a blink the Softest looks up to his name on Sabella's lips, "I did, your Highness, and thank you. I am glad they are well received."

Lorna loses some of her hopeful expression in hearing the others describe the contents of their cards. Perhaps doubting, she re-examines her own party favor and then attempts to recollect the descriptions she's overheard offered, but apparently none seem suitable as her match. Yet. However, rather than abandoning the game, Lorna looks to try and insinuate herself nearer the various nobles until she's conversationally close to Olivia and offers, "My lady, this place is truly marvelous. I wonder if I might seek your permission to engage in an exchange of clippings and seedlings on behalf of House Stonewood. The marquis has expressed some desire for a similar sort of addition on the grounds."

Nodding eagerly, Rosalie turns her own card towards Gianna, "It seems we've been matched! Warm and new and vibrant like the spring, I am!" Giggling lightly, she grins, "Oh this -is- fun. Now that we've been matched, we should help the others find theirs!" Looking back to Olivia and Harlan, the young woman smiles brightly, excitement in those dark eyes, "Oh yes! I've been making my own tinctures and gels and creams for a few years now. Just the bounty in the forest beyond the walls is astounding. I can't wait to find how the flora differs in the Mourning Isles and what new concoctions I can create with them!" Then Lethe is approaching and she offers a warm smile towards her with a nod, "Oh, yes! I've been looking forward to this event for days!" Blushing at having Alexandre termed her date, she nonetheless nods and smiles up at him, "Lord Alexandre Wyrmguard, this is Lady Lethe Tyde."

Gianna inclines her head to Rosalie. "I wonder if we won anything? But yes, we can help others. Lady Lethe, hullo," She inclines her head to Alexandre, too. "Lord Alexandre, well met. I'm Gianna Whisper, Nightingale of the Bard's College."

Azova accepts the little bag with a smile, offering a polite bow of greeting to Saedrus in return. Has she ever met him? She doesn't think so, but-- well, guess it's his job to know people! She withdraws the card from within and reads it with some amusement. "I take it we're supposed to find someone who matches this description? Er-- it says to search for someone else who changes? And is a morning type..?"

Olivia nods several more times, to both of the pair she is speaking with. "Oh yes, if you need any help I'd be quite happy. There are many practical benefits to estates maintaining well-stocked gardens, so it is a practice I encourage." From Rosalie to Alexandre, then she agrees: "Yes, I am a member of the Physicians, the Apothecary College, and the Lodge of Petrichor as a Disciple." Basically anywhere they let you play around with plants to some useful purpose. "The Lodge also has lovely gardens, so I advise visiting there if you enjoy this." She beams as Lethe arrives, and moves to greet her a bit more directly. "Cousin! Yes it's been too long. And thank you. I am very proud of it, and grateful to Harlan for indulging me." Lorna's inquiry earns a nod. "Oh yes, I'd be happy to do something like that. Although most of the varieties are not uncommon or difficult to procure, with one or two exceptions."

Jasher glances Sabella's way, then at his own bag. He balances it in one hand. "Perhaps," he replies guardedly, the look in his eye becoming slightly reminiscent of a dog unsure whether to flee or to leap for the throat.

Once Sabella moves on, Agostino continues on in the direction he had been moving, eventually reaching Lorna just after she addresses Olivia. Bowing to the noblewoman, he greets her first, a smile on his lips as he speaks, "She is right, this place is beautiful, my Lady. Thank you for sharing it with the rest of us. I am Agostino Alonso, by the way." He then turns his dark gaze on the woman he had initially begun to approach. "And you, I could not help but notice your lovely smile. It is so warm and inviting. If I were an artist, you would make the perfect muse," he tells her, his expression turning to feigned sadness.

"Alas, I fear you're not lazy enough for me either." Alexandre shakes his head, chuckling, at Sabella before turning his attention to Lethe. "Indeed I was! I still need to speak with my cousin Reigna in offering my aid to the Guild, but perhaps if she accepts we might work together. A pleasure to meet you, Lady Lethe Tyde." he smiles, once she has been introduced by Rosalie. "I suppose we are, aren't we?" he asks, glancing at Rosalie, to see her blushing. Yet before he can comment, Gianna speaks to him, and his attention turns to her. "A pleasure to meet you, Gianna Whisper. I have only recently been made aware of the Bard's College, I was in Blancbier before then, but I must applaud your College's creation. Do you often hold events?" he asks, curious. To Olivia, he nods. "Then I shall. I've many places yet to visit."

Alexandre has joined the a selection of couches and chairs of deep green wicker.

Carita gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Azova gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Rosalie has joined the a selection of couches and chairs of deep green wicker.

Rogue, a black falcon arrives, delivering a message to Sabella before departing.

Harlan has joined the a round table with a vibrant floral center piece.

Carita's smile warms at the sight of Azova, a hand outstretched to beckon her closer. "I got your letter," her tone fairly amused as she tilts her head at the aubrun haired beauty. "I think you and Baron Stormbeak are cohorts in sending me letters in an effort to alarm me." She laughs softly, "Beware of people /biting/.." she shakes her head.

Saedrus smiles brightly to Azova, "precisely that, my Lady," and he nods out to the Orangery, "somewhere there is a matching card for yours."

"Thank you! Our building is still under construction," Gianna tells Alexandre, deftly opening her stylish little purse and depositing the velvet bag and card inside despite holding a glass in her other hand. Maybe they teach you how to do that at Whisper House. "But we will. I think at least a concert a season. A stage is under construction, so that we might put on plays as well. My patron, Prince Niklas, is a playwright."

Azova smiles and shrugs helplessly to Carita. "We live in exciting times, I'm afraid." She says, equal parts amused and apologetic. "Now probably isn't the best time to fill you in on all the gory details, but I can do that later, if you'd like. For now-- what does your card say? It'd be too easy if we had the matches for one another, wouldn't it?"

Lethe looks to Rosalie and says something softly to her. "I didn't know you were interested in plants. We have that in common. I've specialized in herbal remedies. I'm hoping to learn more in the future, but Lady Olivia was always the one skilled as an apothecary in the family." She grins as she looks to Olivia. "I can see why. I think I'm going to have to come and visit more often." She turns to Alexandre. "It's nice to meet you as well. It will be nice if you help out with the Guild." She turns to Gianna. "Hello."

For the most part Saedrus keeps to overseeing his attendants and that the guests are well taken care of. There is a warm smile on his lips as he passes between groups and between the beautiful greenery.

"A brilliant playwright!" Sabella pipes up, then pauses, "Though I suppose I am not his patron anymore, but I will still sing his praises to any and all that will listen. Or who are in earshot and must listen in spite of themselves. If you haven't visited the College, you should" She advises Alexandre, "The Nightingale here has done an amazing job with it. She also happens to have just come back from a successful tour where she sang and played for, well, just about everyone! To much high praise." She glances over at Rosalie and Gianna's cards as they're displayed, "Are you an artist, Master Saedrus?" She asks, taking a sip of tea, "I knew you were very fashionable, but I didn't realize your skills extended into the world of painting and drawing!" She gives bright smiles to those others who have arrived, "Are any of you lazy and purple?" She inquires.

Cedric didn't just arrive, no. He's actually been here the whole time, of course, but he has been so largely involved in the dozens of actions that must dovetail perfectly in order to cater and present such a fine evening that he's been tied up in the mechanics and coordination of it all. But now things seem well in hand by lesser servants and Cedric is enjoying people watching.

Cedric:. Is. Everywhere. Ever attentive.

For a moment or two, all Lorna can do is blink a bit awkwardly in response to Agostino's generous compliments. "Ah," she drawls awkwardly for a whole note before stumbling back into her big girl words again. "You are... very kind to say so, Master Alonso." Pausing again, the young steward sweeps a slightly sidelong glance over toward Olivia and then asks the generous gentleman, "I do not suppose that you might be searching for something sunny to soothe your sorrows?"

Saedrus dips his head politely to Sabella, "you flatter me, your Highness," he chuckles gesturing to a few remaining bags of cards. "They are hardly a mastery of art, but thank you."

Saedrus gets a simple black velvet drawstring bag from a black velvet pouch with crimson silk drawstrings.

Nodding to Lethe, Rosalie offers a warm smile, "Oh yes, I've been studying plants and their practical applications for the last few years now. My own patron, Marquis Stonewood, has an interest in such things and encouraged my curiosity about them, so really you can blame him for my enthusiasm for all things apothecary!" If Lethe was seeking to make Rosalie's blush brighter, that whisper certianly accomplished that! Cheeks flaming, she nonetheless looks quite pleased and whispers something in return. Her eyes dart towards Alexandre and she clears her throat, struggling to bring the color in her face down to a reasonable level as she offers, "I can't say that I'm very good with setting bones or stitching wounds but I'm happy to offer my skills as an apothecary, if she can use them."

Olivia beams a friendly smile back at Agostino. "Oh, it is my pleasure that everyone can enjoy it as I do." And then, she glances back toward the prior conversation. "I am sure if you have skills to contribute, they would be happy to have you as a member," Olivia muses over Alexandre's interest. Though Lethe's announcement seems to delight her all the more. "You must! I spend an awful lot of time in here tending to things, and while I certainly do not mind the quiet," one might imagine that many who involve themselves such hobbies enjoy the solitude they offer, "I would enjoy a bit of company now and then." Now, with many of the questions that seem to have been pressing on her abated, she glances around. "Now I have to find my prickly friend," she muses, glancing around with big eyes. "Or perhaps, if anyone is searching for something that might match well with a clear sky on a spring day."

Carita's smile remains as she leans to show her card to Azova, speaking with her quietly. Her free hand lifts the glass she'd been given and sips.

Agostino gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Azova peers at Carita's card, hrmm-ing and shaking her head. "I don't think we're a match, unfortunately. Ah well, there wouldn't be much fun in the game if I just wound up matched with someone I already knew."

"I'd be delighted to attend such a concert." Alexandre tells Gianna. "Once the building has been built, I'll be sure to attend the moment I hear it is ready to hold guests." he adds, before nodding to Sabella. "Indeed. I'll be sure to do so at the earliest opportunity." he assures. And then Rosalie looks in danger of combusting. He blinks, unsure as to what just happened. "Are you all right?" he asks, concerned. Maybe it's an allergy or something. Lots of plants, could happen!

Harlan is still quite happy to relax and inhale the scents of the growing things. It's as close as he can get to the forest most of the time, after all. Well...that, and the treehouse.

"Of course," Gianna tells Alexandre. Her gaze flicks between Alexandre and Rosalie, and she has a long sip of her drink. She inclines her head to Carita, should the other woman make eye contact.

Half-Mast, a surly little person arrives, following Arthen.

Cedric weaves through the crowd gracefully, edging near Harlan. He passes off a flask to the Duke. "Ashford's finest..." he murmurs as he steps away, then, making a path to Olivia and greeting her with a stiff forward lean as a bow. "Lady Olivia, congratulations on realizing your hard work. The orangery is stunning." A beat, "Do you need anything? A food item or beverage?"

Lethe grins to Rosalie. "That's wonderful. I've grown up being interested in plants and the remedies I can make with them. It's easy growing up around so many. I think you might be a welcome addition to the Guild." She turns to Olivia. "I certainly will. We can talk and catch up." She then says to the small group. "I'm also a Harlequin of Death or the Mother of Beginnings."

Grinning easily when he is thanked, Agostino then nods his head when Lorna asks if he is looking for something sunny to soothe his sorrows. "Well, it seems I have found it. Does the night's Sun have a name, by chance?" he goes on to ask her after answering her question, taking his card out of the bag it is in so that she can see it if she wishes. Clearly, he is confident that he has found his card's match. Giving her a moment to do so, he then remarks, "Your card seems to have matched you quite well."

Lorna gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Carita's laughter is soft for Azova, "No, I suppose it wouldn't." She dips her head, "You had best go find your match." Gianna is given a dip of her head in response, and an accompanying warm smile as she makes her way toward Harlan. "Duke Ashford, would you mind if I joined you?"

Jasher accepts another glass of wine from an obliging attendant. It's not rum, but plied enough of any kind of alcohol and people tend to stop caring about those kinds of things. He doesn't seem to be looking at anything in particular, seemingly content to bask in the atmosphere of cheery greenery and pleasant conversation.

"Half, I don't know, I told you. I just heard they're celebrating oranges. That's all I know. Relax. Count your silver and keep your nose clean. We'll be in and out.", Arthen Dayne is saying as he arrives, ostensibly talking to the small, small person who is walking at his side, giving the area and the people occupying it some real good stink-eye. "Anyway, take a load off. Mingle. Be nice." The explorer takes a second to look around, only seeming to recognize one or two faces, so he just calls out, "Hey, is this where we're having the orange shindig?", to introduce himself. Who needs a fancy title when you can ask a dumb question, right?

Harlan lifts his flask from where he sits, all in black and green and says, "Of course, of course. If I wanted to hide, I'd be in the Study." He grins a bit, enjoying the scents, sights and sounds.

Azova nods, smiling warmly to Carita. "I suppose so. I'll keep an eye out for anyone who matches your card, too." She takes a sip of her whiskey, and meanders towards the rest of the group. "So, I don't suppose any of you fit the description of a morning type?"

Azova puts a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree in a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

"I don't know much about plants or flowers besides whether they are pretty or not," Sabella says with a laugh, glancing around the room again. "I really like the daliahs though. Did you say they weren't from around here, Lady Olivia?" She gestures to one of them before looking to Lethe, "I've been to the Shrine half a dozen times looking for your archlector, though I imagine he's kept quite busy with births and deaths. It's very...there are certainly a lot of spiders." She decides to say, giving Arthen a wave as he enters, "Hello! Yes, it is! Have you gotten a card yet? And are you lazy?"

Carita has joined the a round table with a vibrant floral center piece.

Lorna leans in a little to look at Agostino's card and, indeed, it appears the commoners have met their respective match. "Lorna Redvale," the redhead offers by way of her long-delayed introduction. "Steward of House Stonewood. And... what do you do?"

Cedric gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Aaaaaaaaaand then there's Alexandre. Bless him, he surely means well! But drawing attention to the blush only has it doubling down and flaming back to life in her cheeks as she goes wide-eyed and puts on a too-bright smile, "Fine! I'm fine! I'm just... going to... explore! The flowers and trees... I think I'll see if I can identify some of the rarer plants perhaps. You should find your card match! Beautiful and elegant seeking someone luxurious!" Darting a glance to Lethe, she smiles but quickly moves deeper into the Orangery, where there's more plants and perhaps a few less people! At least for a few minutes.

Gianna arches her eyebrow, looking from Sabella to Arthen. "I don't believe he has a card yet," she tells the Princess. "But I suppose he might be lazy, too."

Cedric removes his flower card and regards it with a sort of impassive look. He then tucks it back into the bag and stows it away on his person.

"Oh Cedric, hello! You are too kind. But... no, I think I'm quite alright, for just the moment. Hasn't Saedrus done a fantastic job?" Here Olivia glances around, and then suggests, "Are you going to play the game also?" Between that, and mention of the Whisper, one might even imagine at her hinting that their faithful servant take some time to enjoy himself. Though such hints can so often go unheeded... " Turning to Sabella, her expression is a bit more serious. "Well, yes and no, Princess. Strictly, I found the first of them not all that far from the city. However, everything I've been able to find suggests they are a variety native to the southern wastelands... before they were quite so wasted. I do not know if anyone else has discovered them growing on our contintent."

Cedric puts a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree in a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Alexandre? He is genuinely puzzled by Rosalie's behaviour. He blinks at her departing self, looking as if he might insist and ask her, but instead, mercifully, he remains where he is. He takes a look back into his bag again, and then to the individuals that have come in. "So... Yes. Seeking someone lazy, handsome thing that knows luxury." he offers at large in regards to the sought plant. "No requirement as to colours. I'm not as picky as she is." He motions to Sabella, teasingly.

Cedric removes his flower card and regards it with a sort of impassive look. He then tucks it back into the bag and stows it away on his person. He looks back to Olivia and give a non-committal smile with answer to match, "Very well, my lady. Enjoy the evening." He bows and steps away.

Lethe looks to Sabella and laughs. "At least you didn't say dour. Archlector Aureth is one my favorite people in the city, but yes he can be busy. There's going to be a Harlequins' picnic soon. Perhaps you can meet him then." She watches Rosalie watch off with a happy smile and looks around. She turns to Azova. "Hello!"

Well, there's at least one nibble on the hook. Arthen Dayne meanders over to Sabella, "Princess Sabella Grayson! I thought I recognized you. I feel like it was just the other day I saw you fighting all those pirates. Good to see you got out of that in one piece." He offers the princess a grin, and affably answers her question, "I don't think I'm lazy. I think that's just in the books, really. I know I don't have a card though. I just got here. Do I need a card?", and there is a smile for Gianna, who he doesn't seem to know, but the smile is sincere enough.

"A pleasure to meet you, Mistress Redvale," Agostino responds to Lorna, his dark eyes watching her with enjoyment as he speaks, "I do...a little of this, a little of that. Or I have, anyway, in the past, held a number of odd jobs. Now I work for house Malespero, finding things. People, objects...sometimes information. Its always been what I was best at, but only recently have I been able to find a position doing it on a regular basis." After this, he takes a sip from his glass of whiskey.

Azova smiles warmly back to Lethe, nodding politely. "Er-- hello! Azova Darkwater. I-- don't know most of the people here. I guess that's the whole point of the card game, getting to meet new people."

Gianna raises her glass to Arthen in a little salute. "You'll probably get a card," she tells him. That said, she sails off with a flutter of yellow silk, approaching Agostino and Lorna. "Oh, is that Mistress Petal's work you're wearing?" she asks the latter.

2 House Velenosa Guards arrives, following Sofia.

Lethe smiles as she sees Arthen. "Hello again! This is where my cousins live. If I'd have known you'd attend I'd have invited you. Who wouldn't want to come with a treasure hunter?" She speaks to Azova. "I'm Lady Lethe Tyde. It's nice to meet a Darkwater, and I know more people here than usual. Of course again my cousins are Ashfords. It's a change being a Tyde. Do you happen to like change?"

"I did hear about that! I'd like to go, but this is the latest I've been out in awhile. People always mention the sickness that comes with pregnancy, but they never mention the exhaustion," Sabella notes to Leathe, having another sip of tea. She laughs at Arthen's greeting, "Those pesky pirates are always bothering someone! I'm sure I'll be called away to deal with another bout of them shortly. But yes you should get a card because I believe I'm looking for someone purple and lazy, although Lord Alexandre and I share so many commonalities I wonder if we're not matches that are playing wrong. Can one ever truly play wrong, though, if everyone is having fun?"

Saedrus gets a simple black velvet drawstring bag from a black velvet pouch with crimson silk drawstrings.

Arthen gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Olivia now goes on the prowl a bit, since it seems people have somewhat exhausted all the most pertinent questions for her. She strays from her brother's side from the first time to amble a bit amongst groups, peerinvg over at those holding cards. "None of you are a little prickly? Or pointy? Or pokey?" That's a lot of powerful p's! "And here am I, feeling so very sad about it..." She's clearly not actually sad, still looking quite delighted by the event.

When Rosalie returns, she seems to have gotten the blushing under control, once more wearing a smile and approaching Alexandre to reclaim her spot at his side. Leaning in, she murmurs something softly to him and smiles up at him before looking around once more. Looking back to Sabella, she chuckles, "Does your description or seeking specifically mention the color purple, or is that simply the color off the flower on your card?"

Azova chuckles, nodding hesitantly to Lethe's question. "There's a few of us in town-- Darkwaters, I mean. Lady Carita over there is one too, you know." She nods towards the blonde. "And as for change-- according to my card, I do, yes. And in general it's usually a good thing. I seem to be in the camp of those whose cards somehow match quite well with their personality. And what of you, Lady Lethe? How do you feel about change?"

Rather than simply stand in one place and carry on conversation with her matched companion, Lorna looks to take a slow turn through the orangery with Agostino. She lifts her brows briefly when the man describes his occupation, but doesn't wear her surprise for very long. "This game must have been easy for you, then," she suggests, gesturing with the card she holds emblazoned with a sunny yellow flower. "Tell me... what's the most interesting thing that you've found? And-- don't say me. You've coursed that hare already."

"Well, if you're in need of a stand-in pirate killer, you just call on Arthen Dayne. That's not to say I've ever kill no pirates, but I do like trying new things.", the man who carries that name says to Sabella, "Especially being as you're pregnant? Congratulations on that." He's given a bag with a little card, and he pulls out the card to look it over for a moment, reading it carefully. "Huh. I'm a Bu-..", he begins to say, but then he doesn't, quickly realizing the game. How clever of him. Instead, he looks over to Lethe, "If I'd have known you were coming here, I'd have asked you! I didn't know I was going to be here, though. Just sort of happened that way. Maybe we got caught up in the same tradewind, you think?"

"Can so much elegance truly be contained between the two of us?" Alexandre asks Sabella, laughing. And then Rosalie returns! He nods to whatever she says, murmuring something in return, and seems to be worried no more.

Cedric is there when Jordan enters and he hands the knight a velvet bag with a flower card inside. "Good evening Sir Ober. Enjoy the catering, and the matching game." He slips away.

Late. Fashionably. Always fashionably. But late does Princess Sofia Velenosa arrive, letting her guards do the hard work of finding Harlan in the crowd and steering her in the right direction to wait before him for a formal introduction.

Harlan is, at the moment, seated at a table with Carita!

Jordan looks at the bag, then back to Cedric, before nodding to the butler. "Thank you. There was no need for this, however, Master Primm. I do not intend to stay long enough to enjoy the festivities." With a smile to the man, he heads on over to speak with the Duke, stopping in brief deference to Sofia so she can approach his liege first.

Lethe looks at her card again and then to Azova. "I happen to find change delightful. As a Harlequin how could I not?" She grins. "So do you think we might be a match?" She looks to Arthen. "We're here together now at least. I'm glad you could make it. It's pretty beautiful here, and I haven't seen any pirates will be sure to flee once they see you're here."

Jordan gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Gianna inclines her head to Jordan when he enters; Sofia's given a thoughtful look, and watched for a short period of time as she makes her way toward Harlan. Gianna has a sip of her drink, malachite glinting on her finger.

Nicola arrives, delivering a message to Constantine before departing.

Azova returns Lethe's grin with her own, inclining her head thoughtfully. "Perhaps... How do you feel about mornings? Apparently I'm supposed to look for someone who might watch a sunrise with me."

Glancing around, Rosalie looks up to Alexandre and gives a small nod, murmuring something to him before smiling faintly.

Rosalie puts a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree in a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Sabella laughs, "When I'm not fighting pirates I'm wrangling unicorns, fighting dragons, and singing with mermaids. But if you'd like to try something new, might I suggest gardening?" She gestures around with her nearly empty tea cup. "I'm sure the Lady Olivia could give you a few pointers." She laughs again at Alexandre's response, "It is a wonder there is any left to spare for others! Or...is there?" She glances around slyly, before shaking her head in a not very discreet way at him as if to indicate that no, there is not.

Constantine slipped into the Orangery in his usual, unobtrusive entry into any given room. He stepped aside so as not to block the entrance, pale gaze immediately lifting to take in the unfamiliar sight of the room, lips parting somewhat in awe. It took a moment for the seaborn lord to regain himself, the sound of Sabella's voice almost immediately drew his attention and the direction of his pace toward his sister-in-law.

Lethe nods. "I do like mornings. It's always up with the sun. Who needs night? Winters are so dreary. I get a lot of sleep, but I'm supposed to be looking for another who like change."

Azova gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Well, since her brother is buy and Olivia is already prowling around looking for people with cards, she does end up by the late arriving Princess and pauses near her to offer a smile. "Hello, welcome to the Ashford orangery, Princess - it's good of you to come. Don't mind that everyone is a little, hmm, wrapped up in things? Our wonderful Whisper host has put together a game and everyone is playing sleuth, I think. But feel free to get a drink, or go enjoy the garden. And if you're interested in any of the plants I'm happy to tell you a little about them."

"Good evening...I'm afraid we've never met either, have we? I am Agostino Alonso," the commoner introduces himself to Gianna when she approaches, a smile on his bearded face. Then he turns to the woman now standing beside him, shrugging somewhat when she mentions how easy the game must have been for him, before remarking, "I'd have gotten to you sooner, but a princess was wondering if I was lazy. It would have been rude not to answer her. I assume, though, that you want to know about things I have found in the course of my job. I've not been with Malespero long enough to actually find anything for them. But I once tracked down a lead for a fellow Scholar, who was trying to find a really old, really rare book. Something about elves, I think. The copy I located for him was in a ruin, on a map I found tucked away in a bookstore. There is no telling how many people walked by that map before I found it. The owner of the store said it had been there for years."

Lethe gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Azova peeks at her card again, and nods. "I do believe we're a match then, Lady Lethe. What do you think?" She shows the other woman her little card. "How does this work? Are they the same flower, or..?"

Lethe nods as she looks at Azova's card. "I expected the flowers to be the same, but the descriptions seem to be the same for what we're searching for. I think we're a match."

"Alas, I fear space will be made, for I must take my leave." Alexandre tells Sabella with an apologetic smile. "Thank you all for this evening, and thank you, Lady Olivia, Duke Harlan and Saedrus Whisper, for this event. I wish you a fine continuation of the evening." And with that, the Lord takes his leave with Rosalie.

"Gianna Whisper," Gianna says, turning to incline her head to Agostino when he addresses her. She inclines her head to Lorna again as well. "Nightingale of the Bard's College. Well met, Master Agostino." Constantine appears, and she tips her chin his way, should he happen to catch sight of her. Though she is wearing bright yellow.

Harlan has left the a round table with a vibrant floral center piece.

Rosalie has left the a selection of couches and chairs of deep green wicker.

Alexandre has left the a selection of couches and chairs of deep green wicker.

Alexandre leaves, following Rosalie.

"Mistress Whisper," Jordan greets Gianna in turn, dipping his chin to her respectfully. He hangs back, for now, opting to make his way to Azova, instead. "Lady Darkwater," he greets, bowing his head to the Mercy. "Glad to see you at the Orangery. Tell me, do you know Lady Olivia?" He gestures to the Ashford Voice, flashing her a smile in greeting.

"Huh, so it would seem!" Azova nods, reading over Lethe's card. "Well, how about that! Er-- I notice you're a physician as well, judging by the robe. I didn't wear mine today, but... Well, it's always good to meet someone who shares your occupation."

Sofia gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Harlan is talking at the table with Carita, about who knows what. When he sees Sofia, he smiles, standing, and inclines his head, "Princess, welcome back to Ashford. I'm glad you were able to make an appearance. I believe you and Princess Sabella are our only Princesses visiting tonight." He smiles again towards Oliva.

"Now, I don't know about gardening, but if you want to show me a thing or two about unicorn wrestling, I'd be obliged to learn it, I think.", Arthen Dayne tells Sabella, but then he also asks her, "Hey, princess, you seem to know just about everyone in existence. Anyone here I ought to know?", but he does bring those baby blue eyes of his back to Lethe, on account of her speaking to him. "I feel like we might be safe from pirates here. Being in an orange celebration. But maybe not? They might want oranges real bad, this time of year. I can't say I know a pirate's eating habits real well.", he tells her, smiling all the way through it.

Sofia puts a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree in a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Olivia has paused after greeting Sofia, at this point, but turns to smile over at Jordan as she spots him, and then glances after the departing pair. "Sir Jordan, I am glad you could make it. Did you get a card?"

Jasher finally heads over to the round table, taking one of the unoccupied seats there. He relaxes, stretching out his legs under the table, quietly watching the others converse.

Jasher has joined the a round table with a vibrant floral center piece.

"Of course Duke Ashford. I would not have missed it, I would also not have ever been late could it have been helped." Sofia assures Harlan, after greeting Olivia with a quiet, "Thank you, the grounds are a vision, I assure you. Duke Ashford was sweet enough to give me a private tour after dinner some time past." Then she's back to smiling at Harlan, gesturing to the large party. "You hardly need Princesses to make your event! It's doing quite well."

Lethe nods to Azova. "I am. I love working there and helping people, but I only recently took the test. Have you taken it yet?" She laughs as she looks at Arthen. "Oh no! That would be terrible. I'll be sure to be on the look out for any orange craving pirates."

Gianna would be terribly difficult to miss in her bold colors, not to mention she is difficult to miss in general! So a small smile was granted in the golden Whisper's direction as Constantine neared Sabella. His daunting height gave way as he canted to press a light kiss to his sister-in-law's cheek, murmuring something to her rather than blatantly interrupt the current conversation at play. He did offer a quiet nod of greeting to those gathered, though. Once through Constantine rose back up to his full height and one hand lifted to take place in the pocket of his slacks as the other hung idle at his side.

Harlan smiles warmly and motions towards Olivia, "Princess Sofia Velenosa, this is Lady Olivia Ashford, my sister. Livvie, this is Princess Sofia Velenosa. She was here for dinner a short time ago."

Holding up the bag with a brief grin to Olivia, Jordan nods affirmatively, spending a moment to pause before approaching the Voice. He murmurs a few words, expression serious for a moment, as he reaches out to touch her shoulder, briefly.

Karadoc drifts in, flicking a hand through his tousle of hair, regarding the interior of the Orangery with a languid smile. He continues to saunter, absolutely unhurried, directing his steps toward an attendant with a tray. A glass of spring-green wine is taken up, sipped, and he continues toward a table to settle at and people-watch.

Sabella brightens when she sees Constantine, "Constantine! I don't suppose you're purple and lazy--wait did someone just say something about not looking at the color on the card?" She glances around the crowd, certain she heard that but not sure from who! "Hm. It's possible I have been playing wrong. Though is it truly possible since I am one of two Princesses here, as Duke Harlan has pointed out? Perhaps I am just writing a brand new game!" She hms and nods to Arthen, "Lots of people! And Elizabetta makes sure no pirates come near me. After all, she let Prince Niklas get to me and he's the least likely pirate in a family of..." She clears her throat with a quick look at Constantine, "certainly NOT pirates! Master Arthen, this is my brother in law, Constantine Kennex. And that's Mistress Gianna Whisper, Lady Lethe Tyde who is a harlequin, Sir Jordan Over, Duke Harlan Ashford, his sister Olivia who inspired this whole thing, Lady Azova Darkwater, Lady Carita Darkwater..." She squints looking through more people, "Prince Jasher Thrax, he loves books about princesses and unicorns, Master Saedrus Whisper who did all these lovely cards, oh that's Lord Karadoc who will design you a wonderful outfit if you ask nicely enough, Princess Sofia Velenosa which I know you're thinking 'there are Velenosan Princesses?' But I assure you I've met like five in the past week so someone heard that question and sent them all to Arx, ah let's see...Oh Master Cedric, who will get you what you desire before you even know you want it, and...I think that's Master Agostino? I heard him introduce himself earlier but was very rude and didn't tell him who I was. Is that everyone? I think that's everyone. If it's not everyone, I will blame my condition."

Saedrus continues his hosting duties, manging his attendants and being sure there is everything the guests could need.

Azova casts a warm, friendly smile Jordan's way, nodding a polite greeting. "Sir Ober. Always a pleasure. And... I do not believe we've ever met in person, no." She inclines her head to Olivia, and shakes her head in response to Lethe's question. "I... have somehow managed not to take the test up to this point, actually. I really do need to fix this."

Karadoc has joined the a round table with a vibrant floral center piece.

Lorna greets Gianna with a warm smile, though the expression likely pales when matched next to the lovely Whisper. "Lorna Redvale. I'm honored to meet you," she softly offers. "Would I be able to trouble you into keeping Master Agostino company a while in my place. I need to return to House Stonewood before long and see to closing the house for the night." But, lest Agostino be left in the lurch, the young steward turns her pale gaze back to him and says, "It was my pleasure to make your acquaintance, Master Alonso. Perhaps we will see each other again some time."

Sabella points to Lorna, "Lorna Redvale!" She says in a rush two seconds after the woman introduces herself like it's no big deal. "Okay now I think that's everyone."

"Of course," Gianna assures Lorna. "A pleasure to meet you, though a shame to meet and part so soon. Take care." She has a sip of her drink and murmurs, "That must be Mistress Petal's work."

"Oh! Wonderful," Olivia declares, hearing that Sofia has already gotten the tour. "I'm glad to hear my brother has been putting them to use in entertaining." There is smoething in all that which causes her eyes to twinkle with a bit of mischief, for whatever reason. "Still, if you'd care to know anything about the plants, feel free to bother me." Then a pause, and she glances between the woman and Harlan, and even over to Jordan when he comes nearer. "I don't suppose either of you have a... pointy sort of card, do you? Somehow I've yet to find anyone who does!"

Carita was speaking quietly with Harlan, but the Duke has long since left the table where she remains, clearly horrible at the game of matching her card with someone else's. However, as Karadoc shows and makes his way toward her table to settle, she shines a warm smile his way. "Do you have a card, Lord Saik?"

"Certainly not pirates." Constantine mused in his gentle humor, an echo of Sabella's words. At the introduction he inclined his head to Arthen. "Ah, I believe we brushed past each other at the Ebb. A pleasure to meet you, Master Arthen." His gaze followed Sabella's gestures as she literally introduced everyone, many of whom he was also unfamiliar with.

Lethe nods to Azova. "Don't worry. The test is well I'll let you wait and see but I was nervous when I took it. Once I started I just did what I've learned, and I passed. Once you take the test we'll have to go have a drink as a little celebration once you feel up to it."

"Retired, now, your Highness --" Karadoc murmurs over the rim of his glass of wine, lifting it in a toast once Sabella has essentially called everyone out by name. "Thank the Thirteen for outgoing, overactive royals to make all the important introductions so piddly little lords like me do not have to. To all and sundry," he murmurs as he stops at a round table with a vibrant centerpiece, answering Carita, "No, Lady Darkwater, I do not."

"Mine looks intensely serious," Jordan glances down at his card. "I suspect this was Master Primm's." He flashes Azova a warm smile of his own, in response, nodding again to the Darkwater before mentioning, "Lady Olivia has quite the collection of healing herbs and other things that might be of interest to you. Both of you have a mind set to experimentation, so I think you have a lot to discuss, when you get the time." Having made this connection, he glances over at Constantine after Sabella's introduction and nods to the Kennex.

Bowing his head somewhat when Gianna introduces herself, Agostino grins a bit and responds, "Nightingale of the Bard's College. What a poetic title. A pleasure to meet you." Then Lorna is taking her leave, and he turns his smiling face toward her again. "Well, it is a rare enough treat to see the Sun at night, I should not be greedy. I hope you have a wonderful evening, Mistress Redvale. And that we do meet again," he tells her in parting.

"Sadly, no. Not pointy. Mine is.. delicate." Sofia states to Olivia after another peek at her card, beaming in approval at the design while nodding her head. "I have decided to take up healing, so perhaps I shall seek audience with you soon, Lady Olivia. Plants are utmost importance.." she states, giving the woman a wink and laying her hand briefly on Harlan's arm as she leans in to whisper.

Sometimes a man makes a mistake, and when he makes that mistake, he's got no choice but to hold on until the mistake has run along and finished. It would seem that Arthen Dayne did such a thing when he asked Princess Sabella if there was anyone he should know. The woman seems to blossom into a bright flower of introductions, and he follows along as best as he can. "Hello there.", and "Hi!", along with a "Pleasure to meet you!", and "I don't think we'd met. I'd remember if we had.", and just about every other greeting he can muster up as he tries to get on Sabella's level of sociable, a thing few can manage, probably. Just at the end of it, likely when she's out of people, he holds up a hand, "Hold on now. Hold on. I need to catch my breath. That ain't fair, you got two sets of lungs inside of you right now, princess."

Azova grins to Lethe. Her enthusiasm is infectious. "I'm sure that I'll manage, but thank you for the encouragement. And I will never say no to celebratory drinks." As if to illustrate this point, she takes another sip of her whiskey. "I'll be sure to send word should I pass."

Jasher appears to thoroughly ignore Sabella's blurb on him. Maybe it might be due to him busy sampling a piece of slow-roasted meat. He seems to enjoy it, at least.

Gianna raises her glass to Agostino. "Thank you. I rather liked it." She glances at said glass, then says, "I'm running low, I think. Would you care to resupply our refreshments?"

Jordan received a nod in return, though as the man was already engaged in conversation there was no verbal addition. Otherwise Constantine simply remained diligently at Sabella's side, the princess' exuberant sphere of social illumination a happy sanctuary for the quiet man as he could rest in her shadow.

Lethe grins. "I'll be waiting to hear from you. However I'm afraid the party is coming to an end for me. I have to be going, but I am glad we've met." She turns to Arthen. "Hopefully I'll see you again soon too." She gives a wave to her cousins, Sabella, and Gwenna before turning to go.

Harlan chuckles quietly towards Sofia, and reaches to pat her hand, leaning to respond to her, although he gives Olivia a raised eyebrow and a mention, "I believe the Princess has brothers...." He then does that responding bit!

Azova lifts her glass in farewell to Lethe. "Pleasure meeting you, Lady Lethe! Have a good evening!"

"Oh, is that so? Well yes, certainly, I'd be happy to help as I can. I am a Physician as well, and I've always taken to my gardening with a practical eye alongside my pure love of nature." Olivia answers Sofia, and then geestures about. "I grow a fair number of healing herbs here. Although if anything, most people fail to realize how many common plants have such applications." Hearing Jordan's suggestion he glances over toward Azova as well. "It seems we've had no shortage of guests with such interests. I don't know if that means they're very common, or if the nature of the gathering brought them out of the woodwork!" She pointedly ignores Harlan's reply then, and simply goes about frowning at the lack of card matches. "I don't know how I can't find anyone yet! Maybe mine left." Pout.

Sabella flashes Arthen a brilliant smile, "I'm afraid I was like this even before I was married and placed in so delicate a condition, but I shall take that as a gracious compliment for you have not told me to stop, just to slow down and I can most certainly do that! Probably. I can attempt to curb my loquacious nature so as to ensure that you make the proper connections you need to in order to thrive in what is, after all, a wonderful, amazing city that offers only the best to those that enter its walls!" She beams. Then goes to have a sip of tea, but alas her cup is empty. "Oh, did Cedric leave? How does he do that?"

Jasher gets a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree from a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Agostino raises his glass as well, and then drinks deeply of the whiskey in it. "Mine is as well. I would be happy to, of course. What were you drinking, Mistress Gianna?" he asks her once he lowers the glass again, before wandering off to find more refreshments. It does not take him long to find them, though, as he returns with two full glasses, offering one to her before commenting, "I am going to guess, with a title like that, your voice must be quite lovely?"

Constantine extended his hand for Sabella's empty teacup, "I'll fetch you some more. What were you drinking?" An ample excuse to walk the Orangery a bit and to stay out of chatty-town!

"Well," Azova says to Olivia with a casual shrug, "At the very least, if anyone here tonight starts bleeding they will be in good hands. And there'll be no shortage of herbs to treat the wound! An excellent place for someone to come to harm, if they had the option."

Gianna was just having something orange-based and lightly fizzy, and it's easy to find a replacement. "Thank you," she tells Agostino, lips curving up slightly at the corners. It doesn't quite reach her eyes, but it's something. "I am indeed a singer. From time to time I sing in taverns and the like, but also at events. I'll be singing at the upcoming Gala, in fact."

"I'd say it's less that it's common and more that physicians and apothecarists have a lot of intersecting interests in botany and animal experimentation." Jordan opines to Olivia, before smiling, pleased, as Azova addresses the Ashford Voice. With another bow of his head to both, he steps away briefly to finagle some cup of a beverage for himself.

"Oh, no. You don't got to curb your loquacious nature none, princess. That's fine. It's just that, I've been in canyons less windy. I have to say, that was impressive. You're a woman of no small talents, to remember all those names and faces and such.", Arthen Dayne assures Sabella, before looking around at all the people. "Anyone seen my little person? Half? Half!", he calls out. He doesn't seem to put eyes on his companion, but from somewhere a surly voice calls out in response, "Busy!", from who knows where, and that appears to satisfy the explorer, who carries on with his life, "What am I supposed to be doing with this card, anyhow?"

"Oh, my brothers are pussycats! Sadly though both spoken for at this time." Sofia states with a click of her tongue, turning to peer at Harlan with amusement as they speak in low tones, her hand still resting on his arm lightly.

Jasher puts a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree in a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

Harlan laughs quietly at something Sofia says, "Ah, that is not me, then, I fear." He hmms...."Maybe..." He moves over towards Sabella with Sofia, and says, "Princess Sabella, I may have found something here."

Sabella gives Constantine a grateful smile, "It was some kind of gingery tea. Or peppermint? Cedric got it for me so there's probably more around somewhere." She looks out to the crowd when Arthen's assistant calls out, but her gaze is altogether too high to place it, so she looks back to him, "You're supposed to be finding your perfect match! In the card. The cards have matches. But who knows! Perhaps the person holding it will be a match for you in some other ways as well! You need to go about asking people if they are, for instance, elegant, or lazy, or beautiful, things that would normally make a person blush to ask, but now causes laughter and friendship to blossom instead of awkward encounters. I'm rather sure Lord Alexandre and I were matches, but alas it shall forever remain a mystery for he left before showing me his card. I--" she pauses as Harlan comes over, looking to him then to Princess Sofia, "Ah, a Velenosan Princess? I know, I thought they were a myth too! Did you know Princess Saoirse is one? I swear I thought she was Thraxian. I had no real reason to beyond...well. Her...very proper posture." She decides is the best thing to say there.

"You're quite welcome," Agostino responds, and seems pleased enough at the smile he gets from her. The curve of his own lips does touch his dark eyes as he listens to her speak of her upcoming performance at the Gala. Stroking his beard a short moment, he continues on to comment, "I wish I could attend, then. I have other commitments that night, sadly. Perhaps I will be fortunate enough to see you sing some other time, though."

Gia the peregrine falcon arrives, delivering a message to Ezekiel before departing.

"Likely," Gianna tells Agostino, and truth be told, she seems a bit smug about it. Perhaps hers is a truly remarkable voice after all. "You certainly will if you attend events at the Bard's College. What is it you do, Master Alonso?"

"Proper? She's proper? Goodness the horrors. I would rather die a lonely old spinster in drab wool than be called proper in any setting." Sofia states to Sabella with a look of genuine horror, smiling briefly up at Harlan as she peeks at her card again. "Yes, perhaps. I need a delicate match in need of protection in my favorite hue!"

Constantine dipped his head in a nod to Sabella, casually dismissing himself from her and Arthen's company to locate one of the serving staff. He gave pause at Gianna, though it was brief. A short murmur offered to her as well as a smile and nod to those in her company, but he was quickly back on his quest to get a cup of tea for the princess without much latency.

Harlan gives a pained look at the mention of Saoirse, and then chuckles, nodding towards Sofia, and says towards Sabella, "From what I've overheard, I have a feeling the two of you match. I could be wrong, though!"

"Ah.", Arthen Dayne says to Princess Sabella when she explains the game, "I get it.", and he looks around at all the people, then looks down at the card in his hand, squints at it just a little bit, before casting those baby blue eyes of his around. "Anyone a buttercup of any sort?", he asks, aloud, not quite a shout, but it's almost there. Apparently, he doesn't get it.

A slender figure makes his way into the grounds of Ashford House, following the path towards the edges of the greenhouse. A flash of a smile toys his lips, his gaze lingering on those present. There is a deep bow towards Harlan, his bright green eyes flitting towards the man. "Duke Ashford," he offers. "Shall I set up to play?" There is a brief loft of his eyes.

"Does anyone have, uh, a pretty flower? Exuberantly pretty?" Jordan calls out, thoughtfully.

"Unfortunately," Azova finishes off the last of her drink, "I do not, Sir Ober. And it's about time I head home. It was a lovely gathering!" She offers a farewell bow to those around her, and sends a wave towards Carita as well.

Olivia cannot help but laugh at Azova's observation. "That seems an excellent way to advertise a party, does it not? 'If you come to any foul play while in attendance, there shall be many healers and apothecaries on hand to revive you, along with ample supplies!'" A glance toward Harlan. "Why didn't you think of that, brother?" Still, she leaves him to Sofia then and flits off toward another group of people, still clearly card-hunting. Eventually, it seems to strike her that maybe those more inclined to privacy might be her targets. And thus? She arrives near the table with the small Thrax-Velenosa contingent - Carita, Jasher and Karadoc. "Hello, hello, I don't mean to interrupt- but I did think I should make an effort to say hello to everyone. And more than that, I am wondering if any of you might be holding a card of a... prickly disposition? My own is a rather sky-hued affair."

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Olivia before departing.

"It's been a pleasure to see you again, my Lady." Jordan offers towards the Darkwater, with an earnest smile.

Jasher looks towards Olivia. He shakes his head. "No," he intones. "Perhaps the others are." He motions vaguely towards the other two table occupants with his chin.

Carita calls out, "Does anyone have a brilliant blue card? Bright like the blue of a .." she leans to read her card, "..a cloudless day? Used for...dyes?"

Harlan has just introduced Sabella and sofia, and nods towards Ezekiel with a smile, "Of course, Master Ezekiel," He then pauses, and says, "Everyone still here, I would like to present Master Ezekiel, my protege, who is going to entertain us with music while we enjoy the game and flowers."

"My card is a snowdrop. I guess I'll have to keep looking." Jordan looks at his card again, then looks over to Ezekiel and flashes the man a brief smile. "Glad to see you join the House in your capacity, Master Ezekiel."

Agostino nods his head, sipping his whiskey as Gianna speaks of events at the Bard's College. "I will surely keep my ears open then, for any such events," he assures her, before she asks him what he does. A low laugh escapes him then, and he answers, "I find things, Mistress Gianna. Information, items, sometimes people. Up until recently, I worked at it independently, but recently I took a position with house Malespero. Since my family is originally from Nilanza, it seemed fitting to work for the Marquessa."

"No, my lady," Karadoc addresses Olivia, shaking his head, "I do not have a card. Only wine. My apologies."

Sabella takes a look at her card and shakes her head, "I'm afraid I'm luxurious and elegant, though not in need of protection. I am purple, though! Is that your favorite color?" she asks Sofia. And seems about to respond to Arthen when Elizabetta leans in, "Ah, it seems I am being called away! It was lovely to see all of you. Duke Harlan, this is a glorious addition to your home!"

Ezekiel has joined the a selection of couches and chairs of deep green wicker.

2 Grayson House Guards, Elizabetta, a disapproving lady-in-waiting, Lily, an aloof lady-in-waiting, Clark, an exasperated guard leave, following Sabella.

"Ahh," Gianna tells Agostino, eyebrows arching. "That's certainly interesting. Congratulations on your new position." She frowns for a moment as a willowy young brunette slips into the room with a missive in hand. "Please excuse me. I fear I'm being summoned away."

THere is a bow of Ezekiel's head towards those present. "I am most pleased to make all of your acquaintances. And even more pleased that I might... in some small way, offer some manner of entertainment for you all." He grins a little bit at Jordan's statement. "You are far too kind," he says, with a smile. Slowly, the man walks towards one of chairs, sitting down. Noting Gianna, he flashes the woman a grin, before unstrapping his harpcase. Slowly, he opens it, to draw out a well-cared for, if perhaps somewhat plain, harp.

Gianna tips her chin in Ezekiel's direction before departing. She seems a bit reluctant to go, but she still goes.

One and two, Olivia'ss hopes seem to get shot down by Jasher and Karadoc, and her expression falls. Sadness! But just then Carita seems to turn toward the same holy quest just as she arrives. "Oh! Lady Carita! I think I may at last have fooooound you." She even twirls when she says it, holding her card behind her back. "I think that kind of blue might very well be my match. You are not possessed of a... passionate and yet painful sort of card yourself, hmm?"

Ezekiel checked charm + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 44 higher.

Karadoc has left the a round table with a vibrant floral center piece.

"I do believe my match must have left the event already, Duke Ashford. So all that is left is to dance, no?" Sofia asks Harlan with a cheeky smile, tucking her card away into the velvet bag and taking him by the hand to lead him to an area that makes dancing attainable, though she does allow him to lead.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Olivia before departing.

Harlan merely shakes his head in amusement at Sofia, before he moves to take her in his arms, waiting for Ezekiel to being playing, at which point he begins to lead Sofia through a dance -- say what you want, but the man can -move-.

Well, Arthen Dayne's social guide seems to have left, and things are slowing down a bit, so the man looks around once again, before telling just about everyone, "I think my card match left too. I better go find 'em. Even if it takes the rest of my life. This is important, I figure.", and then he's calling out, "Half-Mast! Come on out from wherever you are. We're gonna go quest.", but he doesn't seem to be keeping too much track of his companion. He turns around toward the people again, whoever is left, "Thanks for the fun! Great place, Duke Harlan! Nice oranges!", before he's seeing himself out.

Carita laughs softly as she watches Olivia twirl, the other woman's warmth seemingly infectious. "Oh, mine is the passionate beauty of the most painful sort." As the words are delivered, however, it makes the Darkwater voice's cheeks bloom. "I mean... my card's is." She lifts a hand to her cheek in an effort to cool her cheeks as she dissolves in to girlish laughter.

Raising his glass to Gianna again as she takes her leave, Agostino takes another look around the Orangery, admiring the large hall and taking in the sight of new faces that have arrived. Sipping more of his whiskey, he listens to the music being played, and tapping his foot in time with it after a few moments.

"I think I'm part of the lonely cards club tonight." Jordan laughs to himself, before saying something to one of Harlan's attending servants. He nods a polite greeting to Agostino, introducing himself once more, "As, uh, Her Highness had said, I'm Sir Jordan Ober. Nice to meet you."

Slowly, Ezekiel's fingers caress the strings, his eyes lidding as he begins to play. As he does so, the polite guardedness associated with such things fades entirely and he loses himself to the music. The air that lofts from his harp is a pleasant thing, his eyes distant for a breath. Their is something in the song, a hidden thing, the twists of spring, entwined with the longing for summer. A tale is told of blooms seeking the air, of the first kiss of the spring rains. Of sprouting flowers. Of a world awakening from a harsh winter.

Jasher is silent as he listens to the music undulating in the air, a melodic counterpoint to the cheeriness of the Orangery. His gaze goes distant, and the beginnings of a smile tease his lips, lips that look so unaccustomed to such expression.

A bit glassy eyed once the music starts to play, Sofia has a huge smile on her face as Harlan busts out the Magic Mike of Arx moves. "Graceful, even when not in treehouses." she muses to him with a soft laugh, her eyes drifting towards Ezekiel as he plays. "Do you think you will forgive if I steal your delightful protege from you? He is utterly divine, darling!"

Half-Mast, a surly little person leaves, following Arthen.

Olivia looks not only delighted but relieved to have finally found her match in this whole affair, as if not doing so would have been some great failing. "I think then, Lady, that we are likely matched in this!" She spares a giggle at Carita's quick correction, and then finally offers her card out from behind her back. "You the rose, I the alkanet-" And here, perhaps realizing that one is vastly more well-known to the average person than the other, gestures over toward where some are growing. "Like those. They're actually one of my favorites. Small and understated blossoms, but such a brilliant sort of color."

Harlan offers a grin and says, "I'd prefer he not be stolen. I just began my patronage of him recently, after all." He's not as good as someone who has trained in dance, but just has natural ability to move around. He chuckles and says, "And what have you been up to, Princess?"

Agostino puts a simple little flower card with gold and silver filigree in a simple black velvet drawstring bag.

"Nice song, Ezekiel!" Jordan calls out, joyfully, before approaching Olivia and Carita. He smiles at both, then says, to the Darkwater, "I hope the project I am helping you with goes smoothly, and that I am able to assist you in bringing further prosperity to Darkwater, my Lady. Thank you for attending this party." To Olivia, he mentions, "By your leave, my Lady, I will retire to the Shrine of the Sentinel."

And then, Ezekiel begins to sing, his voice echoing like a clarion call. Soft, yet somehow pervasive. There is a tale entertwined in all of it. The story of two lovers, one of winter and one of spring. Lovers that might only meet at the turn of the season... soft and gentle. Beautiful and sad, as the shift of the seasons flow. And then, his fingers still the strings, his head bowing. "You are far too kind."

Carita's smile remains warmly lit as she nods Olivia's way, "I personally profer a violet to a rose," she assides as her eyes follow where Olivia points. "They're a beautiful flower, and I imagine even more beautiful were you to capture a few for your hair. They would accent your flaxen blond and like-colored eyes." She smooths her skirts out as she rises, "I believe Duke Ashford mentioned you had hand in planning things tonight? Or am I mistaken?"

Jasher remains silent on the table as the women converse, seemingly lost in the tale being told by Ezekiel's song.

"Well you may prefer that, but that doesn't mean I have to play nice. What will you give me in return for me -not- trying to steal him from you?" Sofia bargains, because what fun is losing if you aren't bartering? "I had dinner with my brother Alessandro and Prince Artur Redrain a few days past. It was rather enlightening." she muses, toying with a lock of Harlan's hair around her index finger as she gracefully flows along with him around the tables.

Harlan snorts and says, "I won't flip you up over my shoulder and carry you through the city." He's joking, presumably, still dancing with the Princess and seeming to be in a good mood.

Olivia beams at the suggestion of the flowers matching her eyes. "I admit I may have thought of that, when I picked them." But then she shakes her head at Carita's question. "I believe that was all Saedrus, as far as planning the festivities themselves. As ever he proves quite the master of such things. But the gardens themselves are largely of my creation and maintenance, so I suppose I might take credit for some of the ambiance, if nothing else!" THen hearing Jordan approach behind them, she glances back. "Oh of course, Sir Jordan, if you must be off. Thank you for for stopping by and be well in your... vigil?" She's not precisely sure how to term this whole affair at the Shrine.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Sofia before departing.

"Thank you, I will. And, my pleasure to stop by. I'm glad you're making friends tonight. Lady Carita is quite bright and adroit at various talents and I figure Darkwater and Ashford can stand to be good business partners in the future." Jordan, having said this bit, bows to the ladies and starts on his way to the exit, once dismissed.

Those eyes shutter again and Ezekiel starts another song, this time another instrumental air. One corner of his mouth twists in a little bit of a smile as his fingers flow into a fast paced jig -- oddly difficult to do on the harp, but, then he is not a small talent. His foot starts to tap out a stattaco beat, adding a hint of pacing to the song.

"I do need to go.. " Sofia says with a bit of a frown at whatever the messenger whispers into her ear, a bit of color draining from her face before she covers it with a smile and chaste kiss to Harlan's cheek. "Don't forget you are escorting me to the ball, though I do wish to see you before then." she requests, disappearing like Cinderella at the ball, only he knows how to find her and she doesn't lose an aeterna slipper. Those things cost silver!

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Jasher before departing.

Harlan chuckles as Sofia leaves as quickly as she arrived.

Jasher is interrupted from his reverie as a messenger taps his shoulder, passing him a missive. He reads it...and goes still.

Jasher rubs his temple with gloved fingers as he neatly folds the missive and nods the messenger away, to return or enjoy the festivities as they saw fit. The scion then gets to his feet, passing an absentminded nod at the table in doing so, before heading to leave.

Jasher has left the a round table with a vibrant floral center piece.

Emmelline strides in at a leisurely pace, and takes in her surroundings. "This place is beautiful," she says half to herself. Seeing harlan, she smiles and curtsies elegantly to him. "Good morning your highness."

Those fingers still the strings and Ezekiel looks towards Harlan, setting the harp aside for a moment. "A bit of cider for the the throat?" His brows loft, before he looks towards Emmelline, his head bowing her way.

"Well, you did a beautiful job, Lady Olivia, nonetheless," Carita's voice lifts again, her attention snagged by those that are leaving and Ezekiel's song. She leans in to say something softly to Olivia then, and after she gives a soft sigh. "To go back out in the chill night air does seem like a horrible idea, but I suppose I really should be going. I have letters to write."

Olivia beams back a bright smile, though with Carita's attention turning toward the singer, she likewise turns around until the two of them are both watching him play. "Well, I am glad people have been able to enjoy it. The credit really goes to Harlan there, for as proud as I am of the place I am usually too wrapped up in the actual gardening to properly show it off." She leans to say something quietly, before offering a sympathetic look. "Thank you again for coming, and please be well - and warm - on your way back." Then she looks to find Harlan, if only to note that she too must be leaving him to hold down the last of the party on his lonesome.

Harlan deals with something for a moment, then comes back and chuckles, "I'm not a Prince, but it's all right." His tone is mild, and not unkind. He smiles and says, "Welcome to the Ashford Orangery." Which is not just oranges, of course.

Emmelline blushes slightly at Harlan's words, but her soft smile remains in place. "Lady Emmelline Harthall, I am so glad to have made your acquaintance. many people speak very highly about you," she says conversationally.

2 Ashford House Guard have been dismissed.

Abalene, the Northern Hawk Owl arrives, delivering a message to Carita before departing.

A smile toys Ezekiel's lips as he claims a glass of cider. As Olivia moves to depart, the man bows his head. "It appears matters are coming to close?" He takes a swallow of the cider he collects, before setting it aside. And then, he begins to put away his harp, letting out a small sigh. "It was lovely to perform for you and your guests, my lord," he says to Harlan.

Harlan chuckles quietly and says, "A pleasure to meet you, Lady Harthall. I'm glad that you could make it, although I do believe things are just about over. I believe I have lost the game we were playing." HE chuckles.

"A game my lord?," Emmelline asks curiously, the soft smile still playing on her lips. At Harlan's mention that things are just about over, a slight frown creases her face, though it is clear that it does not become her. "But I have only just arrived!!! I have been hoping for quite some time to meet you." her words are light, her sky blue orbs twinkling merrily.

Carita pauses to lean and whisper to Ezekiel, her pale blond hair held behind her ear to keep it from falling on his shoulder as she speaks to him. She then hears Emmelline's voice, and as she rises, lifts a hand to wave to the woman, "Lady Harthall, a pleasure to see you again. I'm on my way out, but I wanted to greet you before I left."

Harlan smiles towards Emmelline, "Aye, we were trying to find those with similar cards to ones we had. I had bad luck there." He raises an eyebrow, "And what has had your hopes up for so long? I am rarely further than a messenger away."

A smile toys Ezekiel's lips at Emmelline's statement, his hands spreading somewhat. Reaching for his harpcase, he brings it to his shoulder. "A lovely party, all in all." He smiles, before glancing towards the exit.

"lady Carita," Emmelline says with a bright smile, curtsying respectfully to her, flashing a smile at Ezekiel before focusing her attention upon Harlan once more. "Honestly," she says with a merry little chuckle, "the thought of sending a messenger after you did not occur to me."
