I now understand some of what Duchess Belladonna meant when she talked of grieving on her own terms.
To those who have offered me condolences, your thoughts are appreciated. To those who are thinking of it, it is not necessary. Elara was one of the two most important people in my life. My relationship with, and my love for, my sister are things that belong to me and are not going to be shared with the public. So I will not be attending any wake (an event I believe she would abhor) and, should you feel I am acting too flip for someone in mourning, consider what I have written here.
In other news, I hear the faith made a proclamation. I have no strong opinions. On one hand the faith can't really decide who participates, so they should probably get to decide who gets paid. On the other hand, enh.
Blessed Aleksei is an oathbreaker. In general I'd say if you care enough to make an oath you should care enough to keep it. But everyone's story is different and circumstances mean that saying things is general is for people who have never experienced any specifics.

Now that I have returned from the tour of the Isles, it is time to devote some time to self-reflection. Over the next two weeks, I have decided to dedicate some time to visiting each of the shrines to all of the Thirteen Gods of the Pantheon. To worship and pray, to learn more about each one, and to speak with the Disciples and Godsworn there if I have the opportunity and learn more of each of the Gods. I've also decided to handcraft an offering for each altar that I might have a small vessel in which to carry my prayers to the Gods.
My first stop was to the Shrine of Mangata, and then down to the beaches to her lovely altar there as well. I was so inspired by the tour of the Isles, it felt only right to visit her altar first, that I might give thanks for her many blessings and for the bounty of the sea, and her protection against the darkness. The Isles and all who live there are constantly in my thoughts, and I can only pray for their continued safety and protection in the coming years.

I pass no judgement on others for their actions. That said recent events have caused introspection on myself and the oaths that I have sworn over the course of a life in service.
In short, these oaths define who I am more strongly than any other aspect of myself. It would be as well for my life to end as to break or foreswear the oaths I have sworn. They are as vital as breathing.

This is not entirely so, Sir Ober. There is always the Rite to Gloria, to be considered, though it is entirely a different matter than fighting to first blood, as is the usual for an honor duel. I quite like these rites, when performed, though it has been some time I have been in one.

Inquisitor Godric was perfectly hospitable when I made the trip to the morgue to collect my late husband's belongings. He may not be very -chatty-, but I don't know that I would want someone like that in his position. He was polite, offered conversation if I wanted, or silence if I did not, and most of all, he was a consummate professional.
