Congratulations to my cousin for her high placement in the Grand Melee. Her initial skirmish was located around some very talented warriors, three House Swords. I think they were... Next time cousin, you'll win.

Someone asked me recently: if I were an animal, what animal would I be?
I gave it some thought. My first instinct was CORGI but that's just because I love Stumphrey so much. Then I thought of a bunny (not rabbit) because they are so, so, soooo cute. But then it struck me:
Otter!
They are adorable, playful, curious, clever and of the sea. They seem to be such joyful creatures and, if I had to choose, that is what I want people to think of when they think of me...
Joy.

It was interesting to see all the fighting and to observe the medics as they worked as well. Exciting and nerve wrecking!

Soon it seems I may be traveling down south, to Southport, along with my dear friend, and sparring buddy, the Lady Thea, my beloved and charming Martino, and his group of diplomats.
Hopefully we'll be able to help resolve the conflict between the Malvici and Laurent vassals peacefully, and without the need to spill blood.

The Grand Melee. My first event as a Knight of Setarco. It was an honor and a pleasure but my victory was only a message of inspiration to those, of like mind, who aspire for more. To rise above self imposed limitations and to reach for the stars and grasp them tight.
Well done Arvum, I am sure the world watches and to our most recently departed foreign visitors,
Witness us.

You fought like a god-graced swordmaster savant today, Lord Michael. It was a sight to behold. May Arvum take notice of your skill and will of iron.

I am glad to see so many applicants for magistrates, even though there are so few who come from common birth. It's unfortunate. While it will be good for the noble magistrates to see what the commons concern themselves with, the court could use more of the lowborn to arbitrate simple disputes.

The grand melee was today, and I was never expecting to go into it to win the entire thing, but once I was there, of course I came in with all the expectations that come with it. The crowd, and the encouragement of the companions as we all entered together. Lady Viviana and Lady Arianna Pravus and I, the Blackheart of Pravus were all there to represent. Viviana dared to enter with no armor, and for some time she danced around the blows of Princess Marian, but she wasn't able to stand up to it for long. Marian next turned her sights on to me, and I had been holding my own for some time against the pair of assailants Lord Silas and Lord Domonico. Both were fierce and excellent fighters, and I was barely able to hold them at bay long enough before it all came to a head and Domonico turned his attention elsewhere. The pair of Marian and Silas all at once was quite likely the most harrowing fight I'd ever endured, and I'm forever grateful to the assistance for Domonico for helping me progress as far as I did in the melee. In the end, I fell, but it was an exhilarating fight all the same.
Lady Arianna instead stood victorious above us all, and I could not be more proud of her. She stood firm and from what I hear she eliminated the highest contenders in the fight. It was an incredibly skilled fight and I'm glad I was able to watch her finish. Though I wish that I was able to face off against her in the final rounds, I'll just need to make sure I better myself for the next time. Either way, it was a win for Pravus and one that I will proudly stand behind.

I have heard rumors of Lady Evonleigh Whitehawk's play in the works. This might be the only play I might enjoy attending, knowing its author well. I am looking forward to it.

A very tough opponent who defeated me at the very end of the Grand Melee. She wasn't an unknown to me, we have been sparring for years.

I cannot express how much I miss you in words. How do I express what it is like to have your legs cut from underneath you, yet being expected to keep walking? How do I express what it is like to have the rope holding you up out of the water suddenly cut. How do I express what it is like to lose the only family you have ever had...
I miss you.

I still can't believe Olivia entered the Grand Melee...and with hair pins nonetheless!
This crazy woman!
I'm glad she didn't get hurt //too// badly.
Thankfully Lord Jace seemed to make sure she was tended to quickly enough, or so I heard. I admit, I'm secretly proud of her for her courage and bravery. Perhaps I'll join her in on the craziness next year.~

To this I replied the best way I know how; With a laugh so charmingly I could see the shivers dance down their spine.

I can't believe Michael and Domonico made it into the finals!!! That damn cravat must have been really infused with luck and love! Pitty it got ruined with blood and cuts at the end.
Still, wow! What a match!
Although Arianna Pravus (The Destroyer of Men) came up victorious in the end; it was nice to see Bisland and Malvici team up as a symbol of love and family, at some point, for the upcoming union between the Lord Martino and myself. I shall forever be grateful to them for that.
Michael you won us glory and have made us real proud!

I am still figuring out how to be a mother. Mostly, I am emerging from a fog of getting no sleep, and accepting that far less sleep will be part of my life. Estara has been all of my world for the past months, and I only now begin to get back into training, and into seeing what becomes of the world with each passing day. Much troubles me. I wish to take my sword to those who did foul murder to the prodigal pilgrims in the Oathlands. I thank the gods for those such as Lady Teagan, who found a better way and gave shelter to those Abandoned who would bend the knee as things turned increasingly tense. I hope I was some small part of saving some lives in that effort. I watch what goes on in the Northlands with utter fear and confusion, as it shall herald far darker things if it does not calm soon. We live in uncertain times, the Abyss never sleeps, and we are at our own throats to their glee more often than than not. My strength returns and my blade remains sharp. I shall ever be a knight and good servant of Gloria, and now I've more than ever to fight for.

It was a thrilling experience to compete in the Grand Melee of the Tournament of Roses. It pushed my body and mind to their limits, and for me, there is an unspeakable joy in the stillness that comes from focusing all into action and reaction. Thank you to Princess Berenice Velenosa for organizing the Tournament, and to all those who joined the field to compete. It was an honor to fight alongside famed warriors of the North like Princess Marian and Lady Brianna, and many other skilled warriors from all over Arvum.
I would be remiss without mentioning a newfound respect for the Radiant Whisper, not to claim that it matters to her one way or the other. She shone brightly in the field of combat, and I am in her debt for piercing my illusions with a thrust her rapier.
My congratulations to Lady Ouida Harthall. Lying on the ground half-conscious was a testament to her strength and martial prowess. Taking her hand to rise again was a testament to her chivalrous spirit.

I await the hour when a certain few shops restock their works. It falls to me to find my acquisitions of late to be rather blue, and there is certainly more room in my chest for additional beautiful pieces.

I am still getting back into proper fighting shape. Having a child is very taxing on one's body. I think it was worth it, on the whole, but I don't want to repeat the process anytime soon.
Still, I'm nearing back to where I want to be, and was most glad to participate in the joust at the Tournament of Roses. I've never been as strong in the cavalry as I am in the foot, but I'm proud enough of the showing I put up. Prince Fecundo unhorsed me after several passes, and it was no shame to fall to such a fine rider. I thought he might take the whole thing, but the victor was the Sword of Lenosia, Harlex, who won the top prize in a very dramatic series of passes with Sir Jeffeth. It was most fun to watch!
My own steed, as always, seemed to enjoy parading before the crowd more than I did. He would rather enjoy a year on the tournament circuit, I think. For my part, I shall just continue to hone myself as a horsewoman and look forward to the competition next year.
