There will be a lot of times when you will have to make sacrifices. The battles you have won and its rewards are ultimately worth nothing if the survival of your house is not ensured. Those interested in the business of Blanchard's stables, my sacrifices are my own to make and I can ensure that business will continue as usual if not better considering the accomplishments we have reached in such a short time.

I'm planning the First Annual Gilded Page Literary Competition!

The categories will be Fiction and Non-Fiction and of course there will be prizes! Spectacular prizes!

One submission per author and pre-published books are acceptable for submission. There will be no mystery authors allowed in this particular competition, though authors' names will be kept a secret (at least by me) until the competition concludes.

The judging will be done by popular vote. Anyone may come into the Gilded Page and cast their vote for their favorite tome when the competition official starts, until its conclusion!

Copies of ALL books submitted to the competition will be available for purchase during the contest, with all proceeds donated to the Faith, as per the Gilded Page's usual policy.

I liked my silly life the way it was, but spirits sometimes speak through the appropriation of strange substances and in one such, I saw a change neither sought nor desired. Safe in harbor and now half-restored, I can't say that I've any better understanding... but I have caught sight of at least a gradual liking for this new life, too.

Plus, I love my new bow! It came with almost no strings attached at all!

Oof, those are ruff. NO, no hounding me with those puns, because they do get me hot under the collar. You take those puns to the OATHLANDS with you, my lady. Such a mastiff waste of time.

Oh, and by the way... I do so enjoy encouraging the local economy. Make more things, crafters and builders of Arx. I need to impulse shop.

Honestly, though -- I know those philosophical meetings are just reasons to chit-chat, shoot the shit around, and get dee-light-fully drunk -- but. But. HUGE But. The nature of truth? In this city? REALLY. That's a knee-slapper. Thank you, Guildmaster.

Audric says we are the dogs of Velenosa, we are who you meet when you have moved past the point of the subtle games played within the Lyceum.

Suggests a lack of subtlety on our part doesn’t it?

I could say more but... just imagine my laughter instead; loud, braying, and perhaps a hint barking.

I’m not laughing with you.

Relationship Note on Anze

When I first came to this city I met, then a Prince, Anze. We drank. We trained. And in the strange that is this city, I felt something akin to the normalcy of the North. He helped me adjust to proper city life, but also helped remind me that the North is where ever I go.

Our paths crossed several times since those first days, but never long enough for my liking. I will always remember drinking and the laughs shared. I will always remember the thumpings in the training center. And I will always remember him being there during that blasted battle of those damn wasps, where if he wasn't there I would have likely gotten my arm severed off.

To The Last, Anze, I will never forget you.

On the subject of duels and good ideas: please do consider making sure you have a healer or physician on hand before you begin a duel taking place somewhere without staff on hand. Seconds are important when someone is in danger of bleeding out.

At the Ambassador salon the other day there was an interesting discussion on truth and deceipt, with many interesting thoughts posited. At the end of the day, I hope everyone got some deep thoughts to think. I know I did.

Calaudrin gives the BEST opportunities for adventure!

If Silas' desk gets 'accidentally' cleaned though, it's all the Deputy Commander's fault.

It is time, I think, to donate to the Guild of Physicians! Particularly for arrow extraction medical supplies. Or perhaps this is the time for Princess Saoirse's Fine Arrow Extraction Technique to shine. If you have not heard this story, remind me to tell it to you. It is not a happy ending, but it is worth a laugh.

With the Day of Vows coming to a close, I wanted to remind everyone to take a moment to acknowledge the bonds you have made through sworn word. Whether it is the little things like promising to make time to spend with someone, or the big things like marriages and oaths of fealty, these vows shape and define us in many ways, more than anything else.

For me, my vows are largely to myself, and so the Day usually ends up one of quiet contemplation and review. How well am I doing at holding up to them? Is my life oriented in the right direction? Am I making progress?

It is, of course, also a day to remember love. I have my own thoughts on that, but those are for letters, for Reflections, for personal conversations. It's a tricky one for me. But I can say that Limerance's presence is felt in my life, day in and out, in all it's myriad ways. My faith only deepens as I do my best to live up to my Devotion, and see the ripples this has in the rest of my life.

I had heard about this and thought it was a joke. This is really happening?

Perhaps I am the pot calling the kettle black because of my love of jousting and how a tilt can sometimes go horribly wrong, but this just sounds like asking for disaster to happen.

As an archer I am confused and disturbed at the idea of duels to first blood by arrow. Arrows are powered by momentum. If they score, they score hard. There is no weapon by training that I can think of less suited to honor duel.

I love the Champions and use their services happily but this is a concerning idea.

I'll be honest, I've never fully understood why some ruling nobles wouldn't want to be friends of the Faith. I know that not all noble lords consider themselves pious, though I am sure all are dutiful to the Gods. The Faith though cares for the poor, orphaned and sick across Arvum. We are in every parish. Every hold. Every village. And the rightful tithes are redistributed across the land as we pay to provide these services. It seems you would want your smiths chosen to provide for the Knights of Solace. You'd be wanting your horse breeders animals chosen to provide for competitions - I will admit myself that we have a great deal of pride in some of our finer stallions and warhorses that have come from the Valardin lands, and look forward to seeing the horses of Saik to consider some for purchase when we help out that Barony soon. It seems you would want to champion your hold and its goods to the Faith. You would want the help of the Faith to just provide that extra support of our troops to guard your people as you expand your land. You would want to get to know the Lodge of petrichor, learn their secrets of the land. At least to me. Is not prosperity one of the duties of the noble? To ensure at his passing his people are happier, healthier and better off than when his reign started? But. There are many routes to that. And I accept that it is a freedom to choose to decide indifference to the Faith, to view us as a simple support apparatus. It does not impact on any of the services we provide to your people, so I suppose in many ways if you wish for a life free of the Faith you can just ignore us as we toil around your lands to help others. The Templars will still defend you. The scholars will record. The lodge will help you plant your seed and tend your animals. The Solace will still patrol your roads. That's fine.

But what truly baffles me. What confuses me. What renders me mute in surprise? It is the fact that some noble lords seem to desire to be active enemies of the Faith, her clergy and the people. To oppose the good work of the Gods - to be obstinate. Of course, providing that opposition does not take tangible form, they may well be fine. But it seems like the work of a very disturbed mind to choose to hate the representatives of the Gods and to place oneself on that cliff edge.
