It was a pleasure having a chance to meet some new people this past week, and make their acquaintances. I do not have many friends, and I hope that some of those that I did met, bit become friends in the future.

Relationship Note on Rane

We have made such progress today and before your wedding. That armour, while it could have shone bright, would not have suited today. Instead the aeterna doublet and fine floor-length cape serves today as your armour to protect you upon the dance floor as wife of yours, Baroness Katherine and yourself begin your first steps together.

I was unsure about attending the Question and Answer gathering that Sister Dianna held at the Shrine of the Thirteenth, and now afterward I find that I am very glad that I did. Having a chance to learn about The Thirteenth in such an way was refreshing, as was spending time after it talk with Val about the Thirteenth some more. I hope I have the pleasure of getting to attend more of these events in the future.

I don't know what this book is all about but I wish I had a copy so I could sell it to nobles at a huge markup.

Nobles go bonkers spending on stuff like this.

Someone's left a gift on my doorstep.

I can't say I've ever been so overjoyed in my life.

Thank you, giver of salacious breadcrumbs.

Attended the Remembrance of Arcadia. She would have been pleased to know..I dont remember walking home but Rowenova's dog was close by. And I woke up face planted on my couch covered in glitter. That won't come off...Because I DO remember my Duchess tossed it in giant handfulls.

Some times it is rather like hiding from the winter weather. This seems to be one of those seasons.

I am not certain anyone will wish to read of this in times to come, and it's not anything wrong with the weather, more just how this babe is taking me.

I am also interested in knowing more about these sharkenoids. I can provide tales and evidence of abhorrently large man-eating crustaceans in exchange, if required.

There are times when I simply cannot breathe the city air. I feel claustrophobic, like the very buildings are closing down on me, like there's too much smoke, particularly in winter. Too many people, even hurrying about to leave the cold air. Too many carriages on the streets, undoubtedly.

In the training yards, lately, are throngs of people. I cannot help but ask myself why - when there are fewer people training than huddled in groups, talking. Surely there are warmer places. Or is it that they plan to train and finish -- or become distracted and never get around to their exercise?

Yes, training in the winter is wonderful. The chill against my hot cheek, the way the cold air and snow soothe so quickly the bruises I earn. The clouded breath before my nose - both of mine and my opponent's. It's a luxury that never comes but during winter - to both see and scent breath as it hangs there.

But, I prefer training in privacy with no more than a few trusted friends or family.

Better still is training in the woods, of course, with no one around but me and those I bring along. The dogs are perfect company for running through the snow. They're better at it, built for it. I do my best. I'll get better.

Yes, there are a million words I'm not writing here, while I'm tucked away in a tent I set myself, near a fire I built, myself. The dogs are sleeping in the corner where I've set the blankets. It's going to be wonderful, tucked between them, with little Ash warming my neck. I swear to all the heavens, after I meditate tonight, I'll be still for a while. I'll sleep with the dogs, and I'll know it's where I belong.

I thank Skald, forever, for our ability to make choices - including going back on certain ones we realize were wrong.

There are days when it becomes altogether too much to swallow the bile that comes bubbling to the surface, and any bit of good news is welcomed, for it often feels to be in short supply.

The snow outside is calming and peaceful, if nothing else. The way the wind lazily carries it about to settle in and bathe even Crow's Lane with a thick coat of white to contrast the typical brown is a wondrous thing, and even though it quickly turns to slush and mud that can be tracked into nearby bars (with my apologies to those who tend said bars), I don't think I shall ever tire of watching it fall.

There were a great many years when I wished Winter would never come. There are plenty still who currently face that fear. If you find yourself with clothing you no longer wear, do consider donating it to a trusted charity in the Lowers, as there are many and more here who could benefit from a cloak, boots, or gloves. You needn't open your coinpurse to save a life, and some of the lives you save might be the sort worth keeping around.

...I know I'm a poor case in point, but I do hope to remedy that, some day.

Relationship Note on Niklas

I was surprised to hear that none other than the genius playwright Prince Niklas Grayson set out with the party to find us in the wildlands outside of Stormwall.

Let it be recorded here that, beneath his wit and charm, there burns within the soul of Prince Niklas inextinguishable courage, not least of which was displayed in his choosing to wear what Rukhnis accounts an outfit consisting of orange hued ironwool punctuated with teal hedgehogs.

Relationship Note on Valencia

When I come back to the city, the Golden Hart has become one of the first places at which I call. Not only for the company of others, but also - and perhaps foremost - because of its radiant hostess. Valencia has lost none of the light that shines from within her since we last met. She is still a beacon in this city, and weathers her hardships with grace and kindness enough for two.
