No one lives a morally blameless life. There is no one whose private conduct could not cast him or her in a bad light if exposed by the right (or wrong) person to the right (or wrong) people. It is to our benefit for friends and family to reproach us for moral failings, but people in general should mind their own business.

I worry that I got too swept up in a night meeting the Rose of Tor. This is why I try to take things slowly. Having time to cool my feet, I am rarely swept off them the next time I meet the person. This is probably why I have only ever had two lovers. How. He is very handsome and very charming but, I don't know that his self grandiose manner is very compatible with my temprament. Too much and too little time are both my enemies when that time is to think. Sometimes my self doubt is crippling.

I had always heard tales about how impressive Duke Vercyn was. I didn't know until after thoroughly putting my foot in my mouth that I had shamelessly hit on him. Ysbail says he is eligible and to talk to Khanne but he is so well known and barely knows me. He could probably have his choice of dozens or hundreds of women with that rep, that face, and that rank combined.

I miss Prince Mydas. I rarely interacted with him in the whites and he did seem to infuriate some people, but he never did so without some meaningful purpose. He challenged and educated, he didn't sanctimoniously scold.
We've lost a tremendous contrarian.

My second is learning how to rule. It does, abruptly and for no particular reason, seem necessary. But I'll say this: There's no one I'd trust more at my back when I get a dumb idea, either on the battlefield or off. Either she tells me of the danger, or will, as she has a few times, punch me in the base of the neck and take command. Battlefield decisions are never easy, though. To say they aren't is a sign of an armchair general. I've given orders that mean folks that I like and trust will die, to carry the day. As a ruler, I've made mandates that will make some go hungry for a bit in order to make sure no one starves. If someone has a problem with Shard as a ruler, do let me know. We'll talk it out.

With that in mind, I recently herd that his highness, Prince Victus, mentioned that if he saw a goat in his house t he would be having lamb for dinner.
All I can think is that the prince must be kidding. Sheerly, ewe would not do such a thing, your Highness. Not that I wish to ram my opinions down your throat, for that would be rather rude and unnecessary, however it would behoove me to not mention that such a yarn wool be impossible, if I understood the implication of your statement.

The King said something nice about me! THE KING! The actual, real, honest King! Probably. I mean, maybe he had a scribe write - he probably did, really, because he's far too busy writing to every Crown functionary (which now includes me!) who happens to manage to fulfill a task for him. But the words "quite impressed" were used, and I am going to CHOOSE to BELIEVE that at some point he dictated those words to someone who then wrote them down and put his seal of approval on them.
