I've been spending a lot of time at the Shrine of the Queen. I enjoy every minute! I choose the later hours... I don't know why, maybe because it's quieter. Most of the time my only true company are the little spiders. It gives me time to read and reflect and also I find the few people you meet in the middle of the night interesting!

Relationship Note on Martino

As I was walking through Southport Square, looking for the Velvet Box (I was lost) I met Martino. The next day we went to the Eidolon Gallery and wandered around a little. I got to show someone my favorite painting there; the lady with the spiders... He's promised wine at another time and I very much look forward to it.

Relationship Note on Miranda

While the news of Miranda being attacked by the bear was so incredibly worrying. I was assured by others that my dear second cousin was recovering well, and fast. So I was even more pleased to see her up on two feet and walking the city. Such bravery by her, and the others, to ensure that no true lasting harm or... worse occurred.

Dear Sally,

What can I say? You woulda looked at me like I was drunk. And I would likely been tellin' a tall one too. But I met the King today. I was so close to him if I was to pass gas he would of known it was me. I, you know -- didn't exactly do you proud. But I did not wallop him none neither. Nor start no things that you woulda been to upset about.

I wish you were here with me. We should have come here a long time ago.

You would have dreamed of mopping these houses and doing their britches justices, Sally -- we could of had a small cottage. Only a few leaks maybe.

And you would have seen all them princesses and their dresses.

I sure miss you Sally, I can't wait to see you.

Relationship Note on Gunther

Gunter,

How interesting to read about your trip here and your thoughts on journals. I never thought of how important journals are until I started to spend time searching for information about other lands. It may seem trivial, but no. These days I am so curious about the lives of other people in those lands. Were they happy? Were they free to learn music... or letters, as you say. What might this tell me?

What might this tell someone ages from now? That what oaths we kept led to fulfilling lives? Maybe they'd want to learn from our mistakes. Now that I am back in Arx I see how people struggle and yet find joy. I see artisans revel in their craft. I see great debates that make me think.

I don't know anything about your life but what you write here. Maybe what you write here won't change anything for me or maybe it will make me a better heir.

With honor to Vellichor,
Lady Peri Seliki, heir of the Pearlspire.

THE KING CAME TO MY BIRTHDAY PARTY.

That is all. I'm just going to be over here, making excited noises, forever.

Anyone who might be knowledgeable -- and willing to share that knowledge -- in regards to the lands our foreign emissaries hail from is invited to send a messenger. I am happy to discuss payment, favors, acclaim, or even recognition by House Velenosa in return.

Vetiver-- a touch of citrusy, bright green grass. A bouquet of fresh flowers; honeysuckle, carnation, roses, orchid. Flowers bursting bright with their fragrance as the sun comes to warm them. And a little sliver of white musk to represent the chased away cold of the night.

Curls.

My little Ianthe has my curls.

Maybe it's time I get a haircut.

No, truly. She does pull at my -own- curls, but she has her own coming in, as thick as my mother swore mine were.
Ianthe Myri, you're such a mix, you've your father's eyes and my curls and coloring. And definitely your father's cackle. I swear I don't laugh like that, like you've a dirty joke hidden somewhere in that innocent little heart.

Speaking of reading strangers' journals, you're under no obligation whatsoever to take relationship advice from a militant priest. That being said...

I used to be into that type myself until one of 'em left me bleeding out in a gutter.

A truly educated person tends to be someone who has come to understand that information almost always turns out to be at best incomplete and very often false, misleading, fictitious, mendacious - just dead wrong.

I reflect that I could use more truly educated people in my life.

I came in this place, the Queenrest Inn. Them staff looked at me like I was a giant piece of horse dung. They didn't seem to friendly but that's what you get with them snotty high fallutin' sorts.

Was a woman there though that was nice enough to give me bread. I think she was a fancy princess, or owner, or somethin' because the staff wouldn't piss in her pot with their eyes and directed them dagger eyes off of me once we talked.

Dunno why a woman like that needed that spread anyhow -- wasteful, maybe she was working or something. But who knows with them folks, they never make sense to the Lessers.

I came into the city. Ain't never been in Arx before. Figured I'd walk around and see what is what. Take some time and do some writing, Sally was always on to me about my journals -- never really knew what for? Don't see the good in them. Ain't like I will be slaying dragon's or doin' anything in my life people would want to read on and struggle their letters to learn about.

But Sally like it it so I'll do it.

Kinda hungry, gonna see if I can come by some viddles.

Then maybe find some out of the way alley to rest my head at night.

The only thing better than a new gown is a new surprise gown. In the midst of the turmoil and strife of late, it is an immeasurable pleasure to have something to truly laugh about. To the kind soul that commissioned the gown originally, thank you. The intent is almost as lovely as the gown itself. And of course to the gentle giant that ensured that I got the gift despite it all, you are a knight among knights - but surely you know this already. I should find someone to make a matching set of jewelry perhaps - a jeweler with a very good memory, of course.

I have not been sleeping well. This or that on my mind, though surely all of a more personal nature than the larger things that loom for our leaders to decide. Not that I don't have an opinion, but it's of little consequence that, right? Who would listen to a smith? Crazy people, that's who.

When I can't sleep, I figure I should work. So instead of mulling the issues facing us or my own worries, I stand here as dawn starts to light the shop and wonder if I should finally attempt sleep once again. The glimmer of daybreak hits the cases just right in the mornings and while my true joy is in forging, right now the way the warmth of the sun shines on these newly made wolf daggers and delicate star hairpins fills me with a small sense of pride. There is a welcome weariness that comes from being at the forge for hours and it's my hope with that seeming to settle on me, dreams may finally come.

I'll let Rigby handle any customers that might come by to shop - there should be enough things to last for a bit.

Has anyone ever read the journals of another they have barely known and come away besotted? I fall in love easy and often it would seem. But another uas been added to the mix of those I find myself compelled to know better and find myself quietly enamored of. I suppose I have a definite type though. Dark hair, dangerousness, and a reputation that at least alludes to a dark or troubled nature.

I was happy with the turn out that we had for the Prodigal's Meet and Greet. I think I might see about doing this during each season. We'd also open it up so even non Prodigals could attend and ask questions. As I realized that with Duke Malcolm attending tonight and a few others that we need to be more inclusive in these times. I had a wonderful time hosting.
