I swear, it's like the lot of you have never had the pleasure of a chill wind whipping at your bones. The comforting warmth of a bigass jacket coming around your shoulders. Trudging through knee-deep snow that's been freshly laid like nature just brushed its hand over the ground and went 'you're gonna be so fucking pretty'. Fuck's sake, any of you ever even made a snow angel before?

Seasons that come before winter are the weak and soft. Winter is where the real fun happens.

Doing the honorable thing is offering the whole of one's self to the belief that there is something underpinning all human life and its interaction - indeed, all of existence. That belief is a universal sense of right and wrong.

If you two make a mess, Oliver, Morrighan, you're cleaning it up.

Thankfully, the best way to get rid of tar is to soak it in alcohol. Morrighan, I'll raid your store and upend some of your better bottles.

As Agatha would say...HA! Will get a bag of feathers and a barrel of tar, both will have your name on it.

You'll be too much in awe of me to have time to tar and feather me! Just try not to drool too much.

So..what you're saying is..if I maintain my regular drinking I could end up old as fuck and only look 90? Maybe I need to drink more and cut off a few decades.

Fresh scones? Prepare to be raided. It'll be quick, raid and run. Should I tar and feather Oliver if I catch him naked?

There is something truly lovely about an unexpected dance on a stage, when there is nobody around to watch. It can be quite exhilarating.

I don't know, you drink and don't age, this woman has to be close to 90, so maybe she's just as pickled as you are?

Also if you're going to raid my kitchen, there's a fresh batch of scones on the counter. Just be sure to check Oliver's shop first; if he's not in there, he might be in the house and if he's in the house, there's a big chance he's running around without clothes on. I mean, if you're adverse to witnessing that kind of splendor. I don't mind you raiding and running. You have a key.

Ah haaaaaaaaaa. I like this woman, definitely need to meet her. That's kind of how I envision us both when we're old and gray. Think she'd give lessons on creative uses of swearing? I'm keenly interested. I daresay it's an artform. Sounds to be the sort I'd happily get drunk with, but she might be too advanced in her age for that.

Yes.

Also I've received no sympathy from my complaints. Emma Mason, my second favorite gem merchant, saw me bump over a crate of apples from turning too fast. I'm as ungainly as fuck. I've got bruises on my hips from bumping into shit and I banged my knee. I made the horrible mistake of telling that dirty old delight that it was going to swell. Do you know what she said to me?

"Aye, running into a man-snake with your legs open is like-as-not to cause nine months or more of swelling when you forget your tea, ain't it?" And then she cackled.

I mean it's not like the whole bloody Guild doesn't know I'm married but when she started that naughty little snigger and grinned at me and waggled her eyebrows, I daresay I was as red as your hair. Emma is a -great- -grandmother-...!

It was a strange moment; mortified and loved. She gave me tea and laughed at me more and told me about some helpful balance exercises but told me when I get into my last months it won't make a difference.

Also I think I should take cussing lessons from that wicked old woman. The most colorful, efficient descriptions of coitus I've ever heard.

Sorry, Josie, I don't have any pie on hand, but I can send Pie over to help you in your shop. He's real handy when he wants to be (and Magpie's not getting him in trouble!).

I like winter too! Hot chocolate, mulled cider, and making snow people!

And throwing snowballs at people. Lots of throwing snowballs.

It isn't for everyone. Some hate the cold. Hate the snow. Hate the ice. I find it beautiful. I enjoy the seasonal changes, of their cycles, and it reminds me of the Northlands - though it's far milder here than it is up in Farhaven. I will confess an eagerness to autumn, it's also one of the more lovely times of the year, with the leaves changing colors, but I'm still partial to winter.

I mean, it doesn't sound as if you could go wrong with maple bacon muffins, and I can't disagree with what Vance said, really, but...bacon does go well in damn near everything. Pancakes, waffles, scones...I think I hear Josie's kitchen calling my name for a raid.

Can't blame your dislike if you were stuck out in the cold all night, but I imagine it has left with you a bit of caution when asking for another person's bacon. On another hand, no one's going to toss the High Lord out of his own keep if you do.

Nor am I suggesting that the new Marquessa should suffer either. I am merely pointing out that there is more going on that just the elevation of one commoner to the Peerage. With everyone focusing on the Marquessa, it feels as though the other half of the situation was getting swept quietly under the rug.

I addressed you personally as you had most spoken in favor of the new Marquessa but had made no mention of the daughter left disenfranchised and disinherited. It was not meant to be any slight against you personally and I apologize if it came across as such.
