It was a wonderful event for the Order of East Light the other day and it helped me put aside, at least for a time, the sorrow I felt at the untimely passing of my beloved protege.

Perhaps too much port was involved, and no actual offense intended against the honoured Guildmistress Joscelin and her most devoted, capable members. They produce great works.
However, I may have inadvertently created the chorus for a comedy of errors, or a social commentary, probably for a stage play. The obsession with a new stone and silk -- all the silks -- convulses a faraway city. The rage bankrupts coffers and does far worse, I think. This chorus inevitably belongs to a gentleman trying to knock sense into his peers. Success is not clear. Blame lies squarely at the feet of The Muse.

Let artists claim Umbra and aeterna you found,
Leave making fancy garments and jewelry now

Relationship Note on Oliver
Unlike the family Masquerade, I took some initiative in looking for something to wear to the Gala early this time. My first event attended upon arriving to Arx was the wedding of Guildmaster Joscelin and Oliver Arterius. With that in mind, and knowing Oliver was one of those who handled dressing the men of Arx, I went to him with material and color ideas and asked him to surprise me. All I can say is that the only thing I am missing now is one of those legendary cloaks being raffled at the event. I think I may have found my tailor. My cousin, the Duchess Rubino, will be happy that I am finally dressing in something other than armor and rags...

An interesting conversation with the King himself has led me to believe that there is truth in the saying that history repeats itself.
Or is it: if we forget history, we are doomed to repeat it.
Whatever the case may be, his Majesty believes that there is evidence that the War of Stolen Names may be repeating as we speak. This gives me something to work on, something to truly study and understand.
Learn more about the original War of Stolen Names and understand what happened and how and why, perhaps. Then, perhaps, something can be done about what is going on now.

It's funny how things work out.
For so long, I knew my brother was the peacock in the family, showing off his feathers for all to see.
Then, there was the masq ball and my cousin, Duchess Grazia, lent me her peacock costume. I knew I would never hear the end of it from Fecundo. And, such was the case. He enjoys teasing me mercilessly about it.
The joke's on him, however. I won second runner-up in the costume contest. My prize? Leather armor.
He will still always be the true peacock in the family.

I do know what you mean. That is why it saddens me to tell you that writing your name in the snow in such a fashion is a myth.
Not only do you need to drink truly impressive amounts of water to the point of severe discomfort, but once you have achieved enough pressure for a cotiguous stream, that pressure will be to great to guide with sufficient precision for the fate.
I am sorry to be a crusher of dreams but anyone that claims they have done so is, unfortunately, lying.
