There is a recent fad among the Peerage for duels that are not duels: snowball fights, song contests, spoon fights ... jousting is at least a combat and its competitors could deem themselves _duellists_ with their weapons even if there was a horse involved.

I have sold my first dress today. I can not wait to tell my husband about it. I hope he will be proud of me!

Spring! That means, to me - temperate weather that will get unbearably hot. Wearing less, going out more, drinking more - find more reasons to go out to parties more - dancing and fighting or fighting while dancing more. All more. Much more. More alcohol, more steel, more reasons to be reminded that spring's here. It's the season that tells us to shake off the dust and get moving - it's the season that demands we rise from our sleep, kick the ashes away and stoke the inner fires of the heart!

I've been accused of being 'too happy' recently. Is that really a terrible thing? Spring is here and it is my favorite season because the flowers and trees are bursting with life and the sun is warm but not too warm. I can have picnics again at either day or night, depending. I also do not mind the rain.

Six wonderful Legends will be roaming the streets of Arx in the fortnight before The Gala, and each will possess a special token. Should you stumble upon one of these Legends in public, actively playing their role, you may attempt to convince them to part with their token with some impressive social feat! A wonderful story or song, a particularly clever joke or manipulation of words, perhaps a stare so fulminating their fingers weaken and the token just falls free! Each person who shows up to The Gala bearing one of the six Legendary tokens will receive a very special prize… their own THRONE, styled after the Legend they heroically won their token from!
Rules: Legends will only accept challenges when out in public as their Legend. No messengers to them about this game! If you send a messenger, you will be disqualified. One attempt per Legend, per day. Phew! Or is it whew? I am not entirely certain how to write out the sound of an outgoing breath of satisfied exhaustion, but whatever that sound is, consider it to be here, as faithfully transcribed as I can manage. So: phew!
I had clients! Actual, real clients with actual real money. I am definitely not going to starve to death! At least not today. We'll see about tomorrow. Especially since I have been given leave to set up shop, and have been moving all of the things I bought to outfit the shop to that building. It's in the area of a wonderful theatre, and surprisingly quiet. I hope that this does not adversely affect business, but I've always felt that certain goods require a quieter, more sedate environment to be properly appreciated in. "Storied Treasures". It's a terrible name, but I am terrible at naming things! Awkwardly, the sign painter has not yet had a chance to come by and switch out the signs, so the sign out front still reads "Heavenly Scents." I will be most embarrassed should anyone wander in, believing that their favorite scent shop is once again open for business. It does, however, still smell lovely in here.
The last bits and bobs from my previous inventory have been placed for sale. Nothing extravagant - a silver goblet, a loving cup which I choose to believe is an affectionate joke between lifelong spouses, a lover's token, and about...sixty percent of a very old breastplate. It will be interesting to see if any of them catch the eyes of people in Arx, while I continue to offer my services as a trade agent, and - of course - plan my next expedition!

It is hard to put to words how humbled and happy I am for all the kind words put to the whites by both family and friends in regard to Lorenzo and my courtship. The congratulations, offers of help, and warm welcomes from our soon-to-be extended families are things I cherish quite sincerely. I am very grateful and am excited to start our future together.

Counted number of vomit on the street. Found five. Three less than last week same day on the same street. I believe me convincing the puking perpetrators to scoop it up and put it in their hats last week might have something to do with this. Will continue to inspire the people of this street, with its bars, along these lines. This week: puke in money pouches or pockets. Must not be boring.

Wedding bells are in the air all around. Echoes of courtships and marriages 'ring' through the journals and proclamations. It's that time of year, I suppose.
It is Spring.
Spring that will forever bring a smile to my face. Spring of a year ago that saw me wed myself. Though Percephon has stayed behind in Whitehold to handle some business matters, so, unless he sneaks back to Arx for a visit, our celebration will likely be through correspondence alone. Unfortunate. We were hoping to hold the delayed Reception turned first-year anniversary party.... I couldn't possibly hold it without him, could I? I mean, he'd be there in spirit... I could hire Oswyn maybe, to write up an account of the festivities to send to him. No... no, that just won't do. I will just have to wait until he returns.
Hurry home, my scholarly love. My rabbit.
Anyway... back to Spring (sorry for the tangent. I miss him, what can I say?) It is a beautiful time of year that fills the world with color and smiles. The leaves on trees begin to bud and early blooms make their way through the cold soil to blossom in a burst of color. Even the Spirits dance in celebration! Spring is, as we see in all the news recently, a time for love and alliances made. It is a time of renewal and joy. I know what it brings to me... but, I ask of you all, what does Spring mean to you?

Relationship Note on Ida
I was pleasantly surprised as I was perusing the stack of journals brought to me, to see Ida mention that she was to be wed. I do not know her as well as others, but... I know this:
Ida is one of the most talented people in all of Arx. She is also one of the kindest and most generous. She absolutely deserves all the happiness in the world, and if this man brings it to her, I am beyond thrilled for her.
Congratulations on your happiness, Ida. And Gerard, whoever you are... you have won the hand of an amazing woman. I hope you know how fortunate you are... and how much you will suffer at the hands of others if you ever hurt her (as has already been mentioned in the whites).
