Tonight's event was, admittedly, kind of fun. If only because I saw the Archduchess clenching and unclenching her fist over trying to decide who would win, only to give up and give into pressures put upon herself, and choose -two- winners.
I didn't even have to do anything, just sit there and enjoy her 'turmoil'.

Back in the city again and starting to settle in. Raided the wine cellar but I was good and didn't open the best bottle. Ordered some new clothing. Got filled in on some family history by Cristoph. It's like I was never away. Comforting, in a way.

What a hectic week this has been (extra arduous due to my healing wounds), but then it has been a memorable one, too. I could have laid around all week in a Weak Maker (bed), but that would have been no good. I have been quite sad, and somewhat foggy, but the social activities with dear friends were a great help, along with my work tasks (which I love doing, and no, I am not joking).
Many people for whom I care have been suffering from their own problems, too. From battle wounds to stabbing strangers, insane animals with diseased bites, night terrors, and dead or dying loved ones... I wish I knew how to help them.
Although I never met Brother Martin, I learned a lot about him at his service, and am quite certain I missed out on having met a compassionate man who not only loved cake of all kinds but also loved people of all kinds, too.
The first time I have felt like 'myself' in some time was at the Rock Painting for the orphan children. Although I never painted, I was the wolf ride for a temporary time: until I broke down. Lady Delilah and Princess Sabella saved me from the little ones and their adorable mauling. I wish I could have held out! Marquessa Sasha (best patron anyone could ever have) was also there, too.
After talking shop, Jeweler Josephine and I walked down to the Golden Hart for the Spring Fling where Lady Lethe and Lady Lilith were my great teammates for the Three Way (Tug of War!). We did not win, but a fun time it still was. My sore back LUCKily popped during Round 2. I feel much better! Princess Valencia was a wonderful hostess, and I also met so many nice people. Some unexpected.
Our High Lord Prince Darren kindly hosted an Open Court within the Great Hall at the Redrain Villa. I screwed up, but I also learned a valuable lesson, and everyone there was most gracious. Sounds like there is plenty work to do!
In other news, good things also happen. Thank you to everyone involved in the Willowfall sharpening, handmedown satins, sea silks, and substantial raise I recently received. A new armoire/wardrobe and new ring are in design stages, the latter one a kind gift to be. I have been steadily healing, too.

Relationship Note on Esoka
Our wedding anniversary passed while we were on the road with Thena and Sir Preston. I know we talked on this already, but it seems fitting to make a mention of it here in my journal.
We were a couple for two years before we decided that it would be a good idea to make things 'official'. As official as this is considered for commoners anyway. There will be no great backlash if someday we decide it would be better to part ways.
I look back on the last year of being a married man and I can't say that there's anything I would change. I spent many years alone. By many, I mean a whole fucking lot. I've enjoyed having someone else in the house, even if that someone stomps around an extraordinary amount and shouts frequently and never lets me get away with /anything/.
I've liked the company and the companionship. I've taken comfort in not eating all of my meals in solitude and in the solace of having a trusted ally to confide in. The joy of having a drinking and sparring partner that I can stumble home with.
No, I wouldn't change this. I hope that there are many, many years of it come.

I'm glad for the change in seasons, it means that the weather is warming up and I can begin to focus on all of the many projects that I have for my house. From parties to building and to maybe even, an expansion of our domain if possible. There's also endless bits and pieces of research that we're working on. I'm blessed to have the people in my family that I do, we work together as a team and we're fortunate to have each other for support. I look forward to what the rest of this year is going to bring for us.

There are so many things that are to be excited about this Spring. It's hard to pick one. So I'll just state that there are good things in the works for House Telmar and that we are excited for what's to come.

You can spend time being miserable because of the circumstances in your life but eventually you have to push through it. I went to sleep last night and woke up after a profound but simple message that's not new to anyone but it can be empowering to say so. We are all responsible for our own happiness. You can absolutely decide to wake up and cast off your demons, usher in the morning light and do something just for you. Even if it's as simple as going down to Lottie's for a delicious bite to eat or talking to the Gods over tea and crumpets, I mean I'm not into the tea and crumpets bit but there are so many tea parties within the city I just figured SOMEONE out there gains great enjoyment from the simple things. While I have thoughts about the ceremony Vellichor, I'll save those for my black as they are so very intimate. You already know anyways but still, it's good to write these things down.
