You do me a great honor, my friend. Your children will be the best liars in the Lyceum by the time I'm done with them.

Relationship Note on Fairen

Marquis Fairen Leary... So, with the challenge made to my liege, Countess-Consort Reigna Keaton, wife of my cousin and as close to blood as it can get, I decided to spend the afternoon reading through the history of white journal exchanges between the two, to better understand the situation as I was not there for the initial incident.

Knowing Countess-Consort Keaton as well as I do, I can easily vouch for her unwavering integrity, warm heart and good nature and I have never known an instance that she has ever been duplicitous, disloyal or deceitful. I don't even think she is capable of such things by her very nature, so such accusations lead me to only one logical conclusion.

Marquis Leary has obviously lost his senses completely and I would highly recommend immediate attention by the Mercies at the House of Solace or whatever healer may be nearest. I have heard that they can do miraculous things with damages to the mind as well as the body and I wish him all of my best in a swift and full recovery to a working and whole mind again.

May Lagoma be with him and his family through what must be a very frightening and trying ordeal. If there is anything at all that I can do, I hope that they will see beyond any past slights with House Keaton, real or imagined, and reach out for the help they need.

Relationship Note on Eirene

The concept of the First Liar was so fascinating the first time I heard of it. Naturally that role is filled in the Oathlands by the 'Name Witness', and its purpose is to provide a child with someone who is responsible for their moral comprehension and religious knowledge. The first time I heard of a First Liar I was genuinely appalled. But the more I thought about it and the more I read about Lycene culture, the more loving I understood the role to be. It is hard for a woman of my nature to be able to see a lie as a loving thing, or truly understand the machinations that must be a part of life for Lycene nobility. This is not aided by the fact that many of the Lycenes I socialize with, yourself included, tend to be of a forthright mentality. I wonder if all physicians have a tendency towards forthright discourse, given our unique perspective of just how frequently people tell lies to their healers. The illogic of it still baffles me, but human nature is a curious thing.

Yes, do. My son loves to turn them into enemy boats he can sink in the bath.

..and I will enjoy the chuckle.

As a Lycene who was given a First Liar to guide me in the art of deception before I could even talk, I find these journals about lying to be hilarious. Most who know me know I rarely lie if at all. I prefer blunt honesty as a soldier and physician but never forget I am a soldier of the Lycene.

On that note, I officially name Archduchess Eleyna Velenosa as First Liar to Idris and Iris or whichever of them she prefers if not both of them. May her wisdom and cunning serve my brats well.

Before anyone starts, because I am already remarkably short tempered this week..

No, I am not a champion.

No, I am not going to become a champion.

If you have an issue with me fighting a duel on behalf of the Duchess Pravus, feel free to drop her a missive - I'm sure it will give her something to chuckle over.

Relationship Note on Marian

One of the most amazing matches I have ever fought, it was an honor and a pleasure to be part of. Not only did she fight like the bear of her House but she was kind enough to instruct as she did so. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for her and she will be in my own prayers as well.

Relationship Note on Fairen

Am I, though? Really?

Are you saying that I am cynical? Or mocking? I admit, I can at times be wry, but I do not perceive myself as being cynical. In fact I wrote at length about my penchant for trusting everyone around me. True, I've come to question that, but I do not think that points to cynicism, but rather learned behavior.

Or are you implying that I am incongruous in some fashion? Please, do clarify. I am fascinated, as most people likely are, in seeing how others view me. So far I have: I am not funny. Being ironic might make that better, do you not think?

Relationship Note on Thena

It is, is it not?

The only problem with it is that one can rarely invoke the charge of being supercilious without in turn being it yourself. So it is very much a 'hand with care' adjective. I, for instance, fall prey to it often. Just ask those in the Whites. I am *wretched* about it.

Relationship Note on Fairen

And yet, instead of doing so yourself in a meaningful fashion, you instead erroneously claim that other gods were invoked within the topic and Limerance had been left out, as if those participating lacked a fundamental pillar of the conversation or understanding of the topic. When in fact none of the gods, or even the Faith had been broached at all.

But please, do continue to be supercilious.

Just stating that Limerance is not my go-to god when it comes to the question of lies, so I understand why it’s not anyone else’s.

True, but integrity and honesty is a way of adhering to your vows. My comment was that Limerance should be brought into the conversation at some point, not particularly the focal point of it.

I was speaking specifically to the cause of Aurelian. Who I was suppose to marry, but then . . . well, you've read the judgment, I'm sure. But, I do not feel the need to further explain when you see fit to twist things around to selfishness.

Because lying is bad. It means your word cannot be trusted.

Oh... is this satire?

Am I being unfunny again?
