I have received word of a decree by the Dominus of the Faith. It is, of course, the prerogative of the Dominus to do that which he believes is best and right. Likewise, it is the duty of those Peers within the Compact to remember the duty to integrate the Faith into their lands and peoples lives. To that end know that I personally will not support the renouncing of dual beliefs by those who have lost their positions within Church institutions. In the last few years the Compact has finally recognized the truth that Spirits exist and they are in fact our allies in so many ways.
If you have lost your position within the Church, keep in mind truth comes in many forms and not only one way. I do not know the Pantheon well but I do not believe they seek service that is not wholesome and sincere. Is it sincere to deny your heart and your beliefs? Is it enough to retain your positions in the Church and the titles that come with? Is it truly who you are? Do the Gods want such conflicted decisions in the hearts of their most respected representatives?
There are other ways to serve outside the institutions of faith. Just as there are ways to fight wars outside of the army. Follow your path, truth will reveal itself to you. A way forward will be shown.

Here's the thing. If you didn't mean to pick a fight with shamans or shamanism or those that have ties to it, maybe, in the process of kicking a number of people who, as far as I know, have been serving perfectly well out of the discipleship, which sure, fine, I don't care how the Faith runs itself, don't outright state that people who honor the spirits aren't being true or full members of the Compact, that they're clinging unnecessarily to old traditions, and are somehow being less loyal citizens (but of course they are welcome to come into your churches still, you are very generous), and then lay all of this at the feet of Prodigals, particularly newly joined Prodigals (that you insist must join the Compact under the penalty of death, I might add), with the suggestion that it might be undermining the very foundation of society.
I mean that's a very common sentiment, but it might piss people off.

I've been hammering nails and working all day, when the messengers finally found me and I caught up on all the news of the day. My goodness! What a day it has been!
The Dominus is of course right, and he is closest to the Gods, so it must be the right decision. But I guess doing the right thing can hurt sometimes, because I'm very upset. I'm upset that my friends that I've worked with, Mercies and Knights, some that I didn't even know they practiced shamanism no longer work with me. It's going to be sad not to see their faces in the House of Solace every day. It hurts my heart just thinking about it.
To all my friends who worked with me who no longer will, I thank you for your service to the Gods you have put in already. I will miss you, and I will worry about you, and I hope some day you make the decision to come back to us.

Wow, everyone seems very busy here tonight! I bet they're all writing about how great the Whisper Ball was! Champion Bliss and Radiant Selene did an amazing job! The music was fantastic, the food outstanding, and there was a lot of entertainment of different varieties throughout the night! It was an excellent event!
I shall have to catch up on what everyone else is saying about it tomorrow, I've danced myself into sleeping late tomorrow, I think!

So many important proclamations being made today, I'm sure everyone is weighing in and contemplating the deep impact they have made on the compact. Why Audric has a new bird weighs heavily on my mind, I know. What is the bird called? Who gave Audric the bird? Is the bird going to have to live in a soundproof box? Will the bird be able to breathe? May we all know peace soon and lay these consequential matters to rest via our white journals.

I've already had one person reach out to me about the Dominus's recent proclamation from a Skaldian perspective in matters of "freedom of religion."
For one thing, the Dominus represents the voices of all the gods, and I have no right to second guess his theology.
But I wouldn't even if it were my place, because no one's right to worship the spirits has been stripped away. The Dominus has declared that those people who serve as public servants and teachers of the Faith need to be dedicated fully to the Pantheon. So yes, some people have been barred from Discipleship. Most of the Faithful laity aren't Disciples, and plenty of people have been declined from Discipleship for all sorts of reasons. It's not a requirement for fervent devotion to the Pantheon. Discipleship is service to the _Faith_. Everyone can express their devotion to the gods every day with every breath and every action. Live honorably, live truthfully, live generously.
Perhaps it would be easier for some of the displeased nobility to grasp what's happened if they considered the possibility of having a servant of their household who served them _and_ a liege from another domain. I imagine most of them would prefer those dedicated to their service to be _fully_ dedicated.

I am saddened that you wish to shut down, but I understand the desire to avoid direct conflict with others in disagreement and debate. It makes sense to me, however, that initiates of the Faith should be wholly devoted to the Faith. A Disciple is an initiate of the Faith; though they may not be Godsworn, they are still devoted to the Faith and in some cases, have chosen to take the extra steps necessary toward that service. Discipleship should not be undertaken lightly, or with split loyalties. But there is nothing in what the Dominus proclaimed that should prevent you from worshiping both the Gods and communing with the spirits if you so choose.

It is your fight, if you care for your people and the people of the Compact. Perhaps Thrax sees far less who are impacted by this decision than, say, Redrain. Even still, it is hard for me to imagine how this "isn't your fight".

An important distinction to be made here I think is that the Faith also didn't tell you to stop worshiping spirits and old gods, nor have they tried to proclaim that either of those don't exist or aren't worth believing in.
What has been said definitively is that no people who believe in anything beyond the Pantheon may work within the Church itself. What distinction you can draw from that objectively, no idea. Not really my fight either.

Is that not what the Faith is doing to us right now? I was just starting to get used to the idea of trying to embrace the Pantheon and accept that it could be part of my own faith. I went around to shrines, I've talked to disciples and an Archlector. Now I feel that I am being told to feel a self-loathing because I embrace something outside of what the Faith says is correct. It is religious and cultural prosecution endorsed by The Faith. I will rest here. I have made my distaste known.

Perhaps the answer will come in time, with observation and patience. Simply because those who practice shamanism are no longer allowed to be a part of the Faith does not mean that we must turn our backs on one another or close our minds and our hearts.
