I may be slightly ashamed to admit that I am amused by this exchange between the lovely Guildmaster Joscelin, and a person I do not know by the name of Oliver. I only barely know Joscelin (though I wish I knew her better) but know that going against her takes some brass ..uh, gumption. I'll keep it clean.

All in all though, it makes me curious to see the crafting abilities of this Oliver, which is to say... the battle of beginning funds has certainly served as publicity.

Perhaps soon he will be too busy working on commissions to remember this little financial dance.

You can make scones for me, Joscelin. The Spirits do not tend to ask for money.

WELL-MADE EFFIGIES OF MYSELF IN LESS-THAN-FLATTERING HUMOR DOES NOT COUNT AS A NOTE OF PROMISE.

But it is well made. I like how you made it shiny on my chin like I'm frothing at the mouth. Your talents are wasted on such trinkets.

Relationship Note on Edward

His story is a fascinating one. I am always inspired by those who work hard for what they have. Even when one inherits holdings, money, what have you, it takes a special kind of person to see those gifts grow. I truly think Baron Edward has the ambition needed to take his circumstances and turn them in to something strong.

In the event anyone reading this receives any funds they do not want and never asked for, as a priest of the Faith I recommend making a donation of those funds to the good works of the Faith of the Pantheon. Instead of paying back what is not intended as a loan, pay it forward, and those who receive the benefit of Gild's charity will be enriched. Along with, of course, your spiritual well being.

You can't stop others from doing what they will, but you can control your own choices.

You do not need to understand me, to understand that the money will be repaid. I am not even sure why this is still an argument, if the Guild 'always gets it's money back and then some'. All I will be doing is putting the money where your mouth is and making you good on your word.

Though I believe his Grace has the right of it. Except, I'll settle at 45%. The extra is for the angry scribbling.

There will be no bets on this! This ridiculous person is turning down a something I freely give to any of the Crafters that need it: a fresh beginning! The Guild is always paid back in full and then some, -always-!

It isn't a loan! There is no interest! I will not accept it!

I'm writing to the Bank -right now- to keep such repayment foolishness from happening.

<the scribbles get violent again>

<illegible until->

-and that's it!

To those of you reading the exchanges between our Guildmaster and this Oliver Coldrain with amusement, I am predicting that Interest on that loan makes it to 35% before this is done.

Any takers?

Relationship Note on Oliver

Treating a business under your protection well encourages growth of said business which only benefits the entire Guild. I do not offer such things for selfless reasons, I've seen time and again that these methods work and work well.

I understand your distrust but understand also that I will not accept repayment of what was given.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

And as a member of the Guild, I cannot sit idly by and take another's hard earned money without paying it back. And then some.

The first rule of business is to never make deals where you -lose- money.

The interest is set at ten percent. If you want to keep arguing, I'll keep raising the rate.

It's not a bloody loan so there is not gods' damned interest.

I don't care about my pride, I care about the reputation of the Guild which -you- are now a part of.

Working title: // Expedition - Soar North //

Day 1. Planning.

On this day I look ahead, toward a voyage that will be difficult and dangerous. I look forward to meeting with everyone and discussing the expedition and what final preparations we must make before we sail. It is all coming together now. I am nervous what will happen when the crew find out why we're going. A surprise to note, the High Lord contacted me and wishes to go with, a boon to our voyage to be certain. The morale will be lifted.

I still fear the consequences of going and hope that none of us suffer the mortal sacrifices this journey could take out upon us. Though I must be prepared for that reality and it will be upon my conscience if anything goes awry. I am leading this expedition, however ironic that may be, I am starting to feel the weight of that responsibility. It is not going to be easy. It will be the first time in my life that I will venture beyond the safety of Grayson lands, the first time I venture without my siblings. The first time I'll be away from many of my companions. The first time many of us will be on our own, depending on our own skills to get us through.

Let us pray that it won't all be for nothing.

Humbled am I to behold the gods. Faces met and actions observed, their virtues are exemplified. We are so enriched in our lives. It is up to ourselves to see the lessons and challenges, then to learn and overcome them to grow anew. When I look on who I have encountered, I cannot but feel prosperous in life and fortunate to know more in this city.

By Lagoma's Grace, I am overcome and touched. Changed.

Thank you.

I shall endeavor to learn and speak my gratitude of what godly virtues they have taught. I welcome any who write these journals to join me in remembering the people in your life.

Relationship Note on Ailith

I find myself enjoying the company of the palace Seraph - her background is similar enough to mine, and there is none of the pomposity one can find at times. She certainly seems devoted to the faith, and to her work. She hosted a very enjoyable evening that got the Faith talking to one another, and also inadvertently led to Preston meeting the king. And she is sharp, that is to be respected.
