Guys. /Guys/.

Do not break the Wheel. That is literally what Brand wants to do. Breaking the Wheel is an End of the World scenario.

Please do not help them end the world.

I have been offered the position of seeing to the morale of the city during the course of the siege, and I have accepted the duty. It is important to keep the confidence of the people forthright and show our support for those who guard our gates. Some kind of daily reminder of our confidence in victory, as well as events for commoner and noble alike to keep up our spirits and remember why we fight. Too many times I have seen those who engage in war distance themselves from those who do not, believing that this distance enables them to fight. I do not agree, for it is people who make up a city, a kingdom, a Compact. Love of one's dear ones, happiness, and freedom must be held close to the heart to spur the fight. And our warriors will serve us best looking outward toward the siege rather than having to be concerned with chaos within the walls.

We must keep calm, and carry on.

Few more pieces falling into place. Expressed a theory, got a few more details filled in. Strange historic parallels being drawn.

To quote a wise old saying: All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again.

Well fuck that- I want to stop the cycles. Break the wheel. Bring it to an end. Why does everything have to repeat itself? Maybe if we could stop the systematic erasure of our past we could.

It wasn't me. I even forget to feed my snake sometimes. I'm certainly not going to feed yours. The offer stands, however, if it ever gets too much. I can drown it.

Prince Velenosa claims that he did NOT feed my cat a canary, but I do not believe him. And now Opia is going to demand I feed him canaries!

A guide to Lycene Masks:

* Volto: A full mask that obscures the wearer's face from view, allowing anonymity. Eating and drinking is not possible unless the mask is removed. These masks are also typically a hard substance; such as clay or ceramic, and either plain or painted intricately and decorated.

* Columbina: A half mask that is utterly decorative. Can be made of clay or ceramic, but is often times a cloth or leather mask that is then decorated with feathers, fur, jewels, etc. Being a half mask more of the wearer's face is visible and it allows for eating and drinking, but not much anonymity.

* Bauta: A full mask with a square, pointed chin that curves away from the face to allow for eating and drinking. Often worn with a hat and a dashing cloak!

* Medico della Peste: A full or half mask with a long pointed nose. Can allow for eating and drinking. People once believed that it could protect you from disease.

The reference shelf in the Writ and Binding is absolutely open to all to use for their studies. However, if you add your own volume to this resource, please speak with me so I can make sure the book is properly attributed and categorized.

Even if you do not wish this information made public, I would very much like it for my own records.

That said, the 'THE CURSE OF CALAZZO' is thus far entertaining, and I look forward to the next installment.

Relationship Note on Aiden

I'm of the opinion that older brothers should look out for their young siblings, and yet... Aiden has been coming to find me and remind me to come back inside for dinner since the first time I picked up the sword. My little brother has such a heart in him-- I swear to the gods, if anyone hurts him I shall make that person wish they were never born.

Haven't had such a close bout in a -long- time.

He's definitely learned quite a bit since the last time we've clashed blades. Which is great - we need it.

The thrill I get out of this job is ridiculous. People aren't supposed to -like- doing paperwork and chasing down loose ends till all hours of the night.

I only hope that I am effective as well.

Just in case anyone else is inspired by Magpie's creative genius:

We want to keep the Bringers as FAR AWAY from the FUCKING PIT as possible.

Please do not try to put Bringer dust in the Pit.

I'm sure someone already thought of this, but I was sitting outside the graveyard enjoying a nice bit of stale bread and a free bowl of soup from the clinic (I'll return the bowl later) and I got to thinking about the Pit. If a Bringer is stabbed, they seem to turn into dust or something, right? Poof. It's really creepy. But what happens to a Bringer that falls into the Pit? What if we set up a lure... A Bringer-Lure, if you will... and turned the Pit into a Pit TRAP?

We could lay some fake ground over it, lure them on and wheeeeee, down they go! Maybe throw some shav on top to make sure they're good and buried?

How does one lure a Bringer though? Maybe find a princess and put her up on a stick all tied up and calling for help?

Might work.

I am hearing advertisements that there are free swords out there for people that are commoners. I am, in fact, a commoner. Who knew?!.. (Don't answer that.) I also don't have a sword (cough cough *Hana* cough). So. My quandry is this... do I go see Hana about a free sword? Do you think the sword she's making for me will end up being free? (I'm guessing not.) What do I do?!

Tomorrow, I shall seek out a weapon so that I too can look like one tough Bringer-slaying bad-ass.

(Also, Hana, if you're reading this I totally <3 you and please don't cancel my order because I still very much want my dagger/cutlass super combo)

What have they given themselves to?

Why?
