I find that I must give credit where credit is due.
After months of figuring it out, Ettore and I approached Mistress Mirari about rings to be made. We gave her our vision for what they should look like and while her designs were brilliant, the actual rings themselves turned out to be absolutely breathtaking. I could not have asked for a more beautiful piece of future, for the rings are more than simple pieces of jewelry.

I passed the exam to become a full-fledged physician today. I had an amusing encounter with a child and then had to tell a man that he was dying. Slowly, with just a handful of years left.
Most of my experience has been in the field - splinting broken limbs, cleaning out injuries, stitching people up - and then, usually just for short periods of time. A stop after a duel to tend to an injury. A journey of a few weeks with one bandit attack and a soldier with a funny rash that requires a salve. My time spent in the Lowers clinic seems to be much of the same. Blood, bones, and trauma.
My achievement has been recorded. Back to the shop with me.

You should SEE the Hairpins Dame Ida made for me. Rubicund and fire opal. I wear them almost every day. They are my absolute favorite. Dame Ida is the weaponsmith of choice for House Keaton. We all carry weapons of her make. It is an honor to carry them.

I was very surprised when my ask for improving myself was answered by Prince Edain Valardin. He also asked if I was up to serving as his Champion for an upcoming challenge. Due to the nature of the challenge, jousting, I had to admit that I would not be, perhaps, his best choice as I have not had much experience on horseback. His Highness' generosity shone through as he offered to help me in improving my skill on that front as well.

This city is MARVELOUS so far. Only a few days in and I've already met some positively wonderful people. And I've discovered have a cousin, which is just about the best thing ever. She's such a treasure.
Bullet points of high points follow in no particular order:
* Was assured of the nutritional benefits of eggs. Sound advice, I suspect.
* Will be answering many questions soon?
* Marveled at the talent of Mistress Petal. That mask she was making was a delight. Masquerade? Intriguing!
* Need to visit the Empyrean to eye up the fanciness of the decor while trying not embarrass dear old Dad.

* Need nicer clothes. Probably boots too, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
* Need to practice practice practice with the sword. Been lazy.

It is a common misconception that insult must be deliberate in order to be percieved correctly.
As an experienced diplomat, I can tell anyone who cares to know, that this is not true. It is all too frequent that even if one does not intend offense offense can still be taken. You then have a choice; you can choose to refute the outcome of what you have chosen to say, or you can aknowledge that your intention and the result were not in alignment, and proceed accordingly. This may or may not involve an apology, but quite simply, the best course of action is to take responsibility for what comes out of your mouth, regardless of the intention you put behind it. Perception is valid, and must be acknowledged, or peaceful communication breaks down.

Ah. Duels. They always provide such emotion.
Looking over the whites, the one mistake I see is the declaration that someone has or has not offended Gloria. It is not for a secular man, no matter his power or station, to declare if he has offended the Gods or not. Even in the Faith, it is not for the Templars to declare our own wars righteous, but it is for the Archlector of Gloria, the Legate of Arts or the Dominus to do so.
Consult with the Disciples of Gloria, with Godsworn, with her Archlector, then listen to them when they say whether actions offend the Gods or not. Because it would be a horrid thing to walk your life thinking you had not offended Gloria, and then to reach for her in your moment of need and find only scorn.

We have returned from the tour and I am pleased to report that it went very well; we were welcomed everywhere we went, and enjoyed warmth and applause from our audiences. Word is traveling far and wide, and I hope that come spring, the College will have more visitors from afar coming to join our ranks.
I am trying to learn how to play this beautiful citole. It is not unlike my gittern, though just different enough that it's a challenge.
I missed my warm bed at Whisper House and I'm grateful to be out of travelling clothes and back into silks.
