It is of my opinion that House Grayson, of all Houses, should consider carefully its actions and how those actions may affect those we touch. Even the smallest slight, as we have witnessed, can have unexpected consequences and touch upon so many. It falls to us to lead by example, and when we fail to do so, then we fail to live up to our motto: None greater than Grayson.
I will reserve full comment on this situation until I have had a chance to speak with my brother, but I will say that I have taken it upon myself to make this pledge: Those aggrieved parties involved will find a fair and reasonable resolution to this situation. While my brother is fully responsible for his own words and actions, I do feel that it is my responsibility, as his older sister and a Voice of House Grayson, to ensure that our family's honor is not besmirched as a result of what has transpired.
Please rest assured that we are looking into ways to resolve things to everyone's satisfaction.

It is my understanding that a person of higher rank, if challenged by someone of lesser rank, may choose to decline without penalty or further declaration, at least on the formal level. I'm assuming that Prince Barric has refused based on this principle, though as to the nature of the incident, I have no knowledge and cannot not speak to it.
If I'm wrong about this particular point of dueling etiquette, I am certainly willing to be corrected. I'm not taking sides, but I am interested in this point of clarification.

I've heard that the city's minds have been shifting slowly to cats. I'm pretty happy about this as for once, it's something I actually know a little bit about.
Cats are very independent creatures compared to their fellow most popular pet-choice, dogs. They're actually much easier to take care of than other animals I've found. They bathe themselves, they find their own places to nest and even hunt for their own food if you desire. Lilybelle is a cat that I feed with such irregularity that I barely fucking remember when the last time she ate was. Yet the population of rats and tiny birds in the Thrax ward has never been lower.
Which brings me to the next point of felines as excellent sources of pest control. We've kept cats on merchant and war vessels alike as they weed out the same animals that feast on the fruits of our labor. Which in turn allows the cats to feast and shelter. Win win. The numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for rodents and annoying chirping all across the city.
In case anyone is curious, Lilybelle is also a white cat. Well, was before the fires anyway.

I am certain that anyone who has read in Prince Barric's White Journal an accusation that a Whisper of Whisper House has publicly lied about his behavior in exchange for pay is simply misunderstanding the inks put upon the page to say something that he cannot _possibly_ have meant. Naturally the most prestigious organization of courtiers in the Compact would never be so tawdry as to accept pay to spread slander about a Peer of the Realm and I'm sure that no one shall be quicker than House Grayson to correct this mistake.
It is a pity when a failure of communication results in such an awful misunderstanding and breach of etiquette. It's so unfortunate I really have nothing else I can possibly say about it.

I have been very busy of late. Two apprentices have tested into being Physicians, so congratulations to Physician Briar Marjawn and Physician Coraline Thrax!
The strides you've both made make me very proud to call you physicians of our order.
That being said, there have been a number of very trying cases that have kept me busy in the hospital and I might need to take some time away from my work there for a few weeks. Not that I will abandon my duties completely, but I find I have several things I need to do for myself. As such I plan to spend some time in each of the Shrines to look for answers and contemplate on the nature of the world and the gods and how things are all connected.
I had the *most* fulfilling conversation with Blessed Aureth, Lord Tomwell Leary and Scholar Rinel Tern the other day. It was beyond lovely and so very thought provoking. Blessed Aureth has, time and again, been a source of such incredible inspiration to me. He helped me bring together a deep philosophical conflict I have been grappling with for the last few years.

Now I'm not the betting kind, usually, but this upcoming match between Master Derovai and Marquis Fairen has me torn. I feel their is no distinct advantage, one is marginally taller than the other and might have more reach but I don't think it's accounting for the unexpected talent or two. After all scholars and people who specialize in the collection of knowledge can always be expected to have an unexpected talent or two.

If you should receive a messenger from Princess Consort Alarissa Thrax count yourself lucky. She has an amazing way of turning a phrase. I am quite afraid that I started the life out of a random passer by for laughing so hard and abruptly. Apparently they didn't expect that from someone in the Guard's cloak and thought they were in trouble.

I refused the challenge because I do not agree that we need one.
The story between Marquis Leary and myself is one that should be addressed between us, and all of these thoughts that I dishonor Gloria and the like? Completely untrue. As are the wild tales that Whisper Bliss has been spreading about me. I do not know who has paid her to smear my name in such fashion but I assume they are getting their moneys worth.
If I had accepted the duel challenge, and my champion had lost, the result would be the same as if I had never accepted the challenge at all. As such, my refusal is tacitly yes, I did reference Marquis Leary in the Whites earlier today. It is indeed possible that the writing could be construed as rude and/or insulting. I however do not believe that every grievance need be aired in such public fashion, or even automatically brought to a duel.
Communication is the key in which understanding is brought. There was no attempt to communicate at all.
Thus, I admit to having wronged Marquis Leary by my refusal. I apologize for any slight, real or imagined, that I may have done to Marquis Leary and/or his House by my actions or inactions. I will endeavor to avoid doing so in the future and hope that such is returned.
Now please, go about your day.

After a his time in training as my understudy, Gene is finally ready. It was a pleasure having him as my student and I know we'll still be friends. I'll need to find someone else to help on their journey, I asked Wilhelm if he wanted to be a proper guardsman finally, but the thought of combat still makes the man light headed. It'll need to be someone else, or perhaps something else.
