It's been a few days, but I wanted to belatedly thank Amanda Whisper for the Snowball fight, and my team, who although they lost, lost gallantly, and had fun doing so.
We were eliminated to a man by Tikva's team, in a bout well won, but Prince Niklas proved he was better at snowballs than jousting, Count Artorius proved that a bigger target is not always easier to hit, and Lady Azova showed remarkable resilience in the face of our chosen 'foe'. With Lord Geralt and Master Ven to round out our numbers we were certainly not lacking for good arms overall, but the snow was not with us that day.
Next time? Bigger snow fort.

Attended an archery contest today. Sir Calaudrin Estardes won, but we all represented ourselves very well. Sir Calaudrin is exceptionally talented. I think I may pursue him for lessons in the future.

Relationship Note on Petal
Mistress Petal is going to make the new outfits the Marquis "suggested" Jessa and I get. She's a talented artist, and so I'm excited - something different and new! And Jessa wandered out with me around Arx, and we made a day of it, and ended in Petal's comfortable, /warm/ shop. She is, I think, a woman who has seen too much sorrow. She is acclimating to Arx and I hope that she continues to do so. And that one day what sorrows can be abated are.

Relationship Note on Aurora
A pleasant woman, and an absolute artist when it comes to needle and thread. I found her shop interesting and inviting, and her conversation quite enjoyable. I think she's a little shy, but she really is an excellent conversationalist. I whiled away an afternoon talking to her about artists and art and the upcoming trip to Stormwall, and that afternoon was not wasted.

There are two scholars I would trust with my life, who have done more than any other I have seen.
Scholar Wynna, the Lead Archivist. I do not say this because she is my protege (though she is, and a wonderful one at that) but because she has worked and continues to work tirelessly at the history of Arx, and brought to light many accounts that would have been lost. Without her, we would not have an entire retelling of the recent Pirate War, nor any number of other volumes. She is a font of dedication and wisdom.
The second is Lord Percephon Halfshav. His ability to tease out the solution to a problem is second to none. He is one of those people you may trust to be steady in a dire situation. He has likely helped to save the people of Arx on a great many occasions, and he can keep a secret (I don't know if people realize how rare that truly is) better than any I've met. And he knows /so damned much/! He's got a bit of a death wish, too, which helps on perilous adventures.

It amazes me daily how people can change your life for the better. The simplest thing, a smile on a bad day, a kind word when things are tough, or someone to just listen to you say silly things on your mind or laugh at your stupid joke. That almost feels like it might have been a remark meant to remind me of my age, which surely you would not do. I have a lot of books and they sometimes all start to look the same, faded as they are from the years. Besides, they are usually on the shelves when I'm not in such a panic to find one of them in particular.
