I've spoken with Master Barik, who approached me to discuss the Lodge and potentially joining it. Some of what he said made me consider how the Lodge has been progressing. On my return, I'll ask him what he has found of us.

I've procured a number of sea cloaks for our travel, and I'm sending them to those who will be travelling. I'm very proud of the design, and I spent time waxing them myself.
Can't have important people getting cold on the trip. Or ruining their silks.

Five days until my birthday. I don't think I thought to live this long. Nor did I think all the things that have happened in the past year would have happened to me.
It has been a year of the greatest joy I have ever known, and the deepest sorrow; a year of family returning, new friends, and laughter; a year in which I have done things I regret, and things I am proud of.
Starting over this year, I keep in the top of my mind the following:
Great things do not come from realms of comfort, and when there is nothing left to lose, there is everything to gain.

Had a lovely wedding reception I went to for Lord Ian and his (very pretty and capable) new wife. It was really very nice, for a noble reception. There was booze, a good bit of talk, and a free-for-all tournament!
I came in a respectable third, ahead of Prince Luca (if only by luck and chance, i admit) but behind Prince Barric and Lord Wash, if only just. It was a /very/ good bout, even if my wife was a bit agitated about the many, many, /many/ bruises I received from it.
And I got an excellent bottle of liquor out of it!

The crotchety old Master I apprenticed with to learn the fine art of brewing had an idea of lessons: watch you fail, punish you, and then give short snippets of wisdom you had to dissect. I won't write down the particulars of the story that led to this little slice of wisdom, and I'll leave out a bit of the more colorful language he utilized, but in essence he said: 'Venturo, make it for the people you don't see, not the ones you do.' While we have yet to meet face to face, I know the Legate has had the opportunity to become intimately familiar with my craft. It is my intent that every drink crafted has such a compelling story in both its name and the taste to back it up, that you never need actually meet me to understand who I am, and the quality put into the craft. The Legate's help in an endeavor has been invaluable, and I appreciate both his assistance and his own appreciation for a good drink.

The more I look into this journal's frame the more I guiltify myself by the white nature of its borders. Almost as if I had no right to stand in the white light of a white book, as if my thoughts were a poison meant for darker wings, and darker words. Black journals aren't exactly healthy, however- and no legacy ever stood on them.
I met Prince Ainsley the other night. He seemed disturbed, as if something within him struggled. I consider myself socially perceptive, but with what little hints I received I underwent the assumption he had failed his latest romantic pursuit, but that's folly of my part. It could've been anything. But could've anything made him threaten a scholar? I can't judge him, Rinel does have a rather abusable countenance at times, so help me Vellichor, but it seemed to be against his very nature. I wish him the very best, and a hasty recovery, Gods watch over him. Except the last one. If they even exist, that is.

I've never stood up for anyone before. Not even for myself. I don't know what I see in this scholar to be risking my neck, but my neck I risked; neck I've tenderly cared for the past eighteen years. Maybe I should distance myself from her, or do something; find something to snap out of this bout of chivalric streamlining that is bound to get me killed. Its not who I am.

I am now the house physician for House Acheron. I am very excited and I hope I don't kill anyone. Really, I hope I don't let anyone die, or lose a limb or an eye or something else important. That would be awful. So I hope no one injures themselves while I'm the house physician.
But it's like I was saying to Lord Riagnon, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So I'll try to help so no one in the House injures themselves.
I've written down everything we have in the stores as far as medicinal herbs and other ingredients, so if anyone needs a simple cure I can probably brew something interesting. I have to buy some more tools for brewing and mixing, but I think I can buy them out of my allowance. That's what it's for, I think.

While I was recently in Stormwall, the summer in Arx drove that chilly memory quickly from my body. And we are in Whitehold in the Autumn. I'm freezing my tits off and loving it. I forgot the crispness, the energy, that the cold gives you. Going back to Arx is going to be hard.

I think Princess Agatha and I have devised the perfect form of warrior girl talk. Random fighting gossip and where to find the best weapons and armor. Or rather drool over the best weapons and armor. Best...Girltalk....EVER!

I made some new discoveries the past few weeks. First being that keeping busy is wonderful and also frustrating. It is wonderful in that you get to meet so many new people, and learn so many new things. It is frustrating in that it is hard to keep everything straight. It does keep the guards fit having to run across Arx after me though.
Second I learned that I love my House. The more I get to meet the people involved, the more I am so happy to be here. It is so different from Maelstrom and when I was growing up. I can be who I am, I can help!
Third is that I actually can enjoy learning! I just have to do it on my terms, who knew!
I wonder if Warlord Galen will teach me how to be a Warlord. Is there a Warlord training camp or something? My only fear is that I can't pull off that warstasch though. Plus I would look awfully strange with one.
