I was going to journal about this lovely autumn day but apparently the thought on everyone's minds is the most recent duel! I never realized that deciding whether or not bars can be noisy, sociable places required reverence on the sand. Good to know, Arx! Thank you -- every day is a journey. The more you know, that's what I always say!

Considering that a recent duel between Caspian and Prince Luca resulted in His Highness stripping completely nude and I do not recall there being any fuss afterward, Jeffeth's chest must have been ASTOUNDING and Bliss' moves AMAZING in order to stir up such a hullabaloo! It's either that or Luca's genitalia is .. no, no, no. Clearly, Jeffeth's torso must simply be -that- shocking!
It makes me a bit sore that I missed it.
So if any of the artisans in the city would like to create a painting of Bliss and Jeffeth's duel for me, please reach out! I mean, if it doesn't offend your eyes, that is. Which, if it does, simply heightens my curiosity. Goodness, what did I miss?!

Regarding the events of the duel that has been burning through the Archives:
I think the issue was that, from the things that were reported back to me, that both Champions, Bliss and Jeffeth seemed to be in on this plan, this tactic to add spice to the proceedings. And beyond that, that Princess Saoirse was informed of this plan as well, whereas Lady Eirene very much was not. Being uninformed, and unaware of this 'plan' would certainly leave a bad taste in my mouth, especially if the person I contracted to represent me was informing my Challengee and not myself. Are not the Champions supposed to represent their client? Was Bliss fairly representing Lady Eirene by devising this plan, with the apparent approval of Princess Saoirse and not the woman who was paying her?
Does that seem correct?
If I am mistaken in this understanding, please feel free to correct me.

Believe it or not, there was more to the show than nudity. There were prepared costumes, acrobatic stunts, color and life and action - and a man who took off his shirt while I pointed out he had some nice muscles, in a silly show of good sportsmanship.
As a side note, since I did start this conversation in this venue, of course I knew I was opening myself to criticism. That does not mean I cannot call the criticism idiotic, the people who make it misinformed and dull, and say that those who left, while they had every right to leave, are fools for expecting a Rite to Gloria over this particular duel.
I can do serious duels - I can do them and still make them some of the most interesting things this city has ever seen. I have ideas ever flowing, my hand is always writing, I watch every bout I see, every mummer I pass, every poet I hear to learn and adapt and improve.
I am getting a lot of concern from friends, so let me make this clear: I am feeling in no way torn down. Eventually, this city will catch up to where I am - and I will be on another level again entirely.

Since I only do things to be liked, I will share some possible opinions and I'd ask that everyone reading choose the one that most aligns with them:
It was a bad thing.
It was a good thing!
I am shocked and offended.
I am surprised and delighted!
People need to wear more clothes.
People need to wear way less clothes!
People are wearing the proper amount of clothes currently, but that could change in the near future.

Showmanship or not, it is within the purview of all people to have an opinion on whether or not they enjoyed a public event. I had to leave for reasons related to business, as it is my wont these days, and I wish both fighters of the duel the best.
Nevertheless, I'd just like to point something out for His Highness, the Peerless of the Champion's Guild, but if the Archlectors of either or the Legate of Concepts or the Dominus himself believe my understanding in this is flawed and erroneous, I am open to correction forthwith: Artistry belongs in the realm of Jayus. Strength of arms, so long as it is done honorably and fairly, is Gloria's purview. It is not about her 'caring', it is about the mode of worship. We worship Gloria by fighting. Even sparring can be considered worshipping Gloria.
Thus, to say that Gloria 'doesn't care' whether or not the issue is serious is besides the point. In fighting, she is given her honors. That said, Your Highness, I applaud you for your decision to stand by the members of your Guild, as that shows a willingness to support and make sure your own prosper.

It's the first day of autumn, though I've felt it in the air for weeks.

It amuses me how often people see fit to tell others what to do or not do, when to take offense or not take offense when it is those very people who appear to take offense so easily and often.
It is also amusing how often people say something that equates to, this is not your business, stay out of it.
If it is not others business, perhaps one should consider keeping it private. If it is not a duel meant for the public, don't advertise it and then there will be no audience to take offense or not. If you do not want your words read and possibly commented on for good or ill... keep your writings to the blacks.
Things brought to the public attention make it open for public reaction. Actions have consequences, whether you like what happens or not.

Such bustle among in the Archive today. I suppose some other bit of outrage has occurred. Our scholarly wrists shall, as ever, guard the words of men and gods.

As for my next project, I find myself rather intrigued by the life of our previous sovereign, King Alaric the Third. I shall be seeking information about his life, and with any hope, have something to add to the Archive at some point.
